Great dining experience. Will definitely come back!
Party of 11, good food and service. After dinning we went out onto rooftop lounge/bar for drinks. Great night.
The only thing I did not like is they sat us right under a vent that was blowing cold air. Not only did it make us cold but it made our food get cold quicker.
Ambience was amazing. Serve was horrible. The waiter brought us the wrong food, orders were not heard or taken wrong. I’m not even going to blame him, maybe it was a short staffed night. I don’t know, but I’m willing to come back because of the atmosphere.
Everything was delicious. We only wish there had been another option of ice cream with dessert. The only option was one that didn’t interest us.
I didn’t listen to the reviews. Service is very slow and not because they were busy. Management must not read all the poor reviews about the service or just doesn’t care. Won’t be back.
Service was great. Took our drink order right away and received our drinks in a timely manor. The meal came out right away also. We had a great experience. The food and drinks were awesome and so was the service!! I would definitely go back!!
While the food and wine was good, the service was terrible. The waitress put the dessert menu on the table before we even finished the entree.
It was a really nice place. Great scenery. But I was disappointed in our service. Took 25 mins to get our drinks, my friend was given the wrong one & the food was not great.
My wife and I went to Louisville for a long weekend. Based on the reviews we thought we would try 8Up Drinkery and Kitchen. There was one other couple in the room where we were sitting. After giving us water and menus the server never came back for drink or food orders. Another couple came in next to us and after being there for less than five minutes was offered to take their drink order. We got up and left after 20 minutes. HORRIBLE.
Great place for dinner and then some drinks outside
Food was pricey for what was received. Our reservations were in the dining room which was understaffed. The server did not even check on us after receiving our meal. My husband ordered the New York Strip which was under cooked. No one checked in until after the rest of our party had already finished their meal. Then the manager, I am assuming it was the manager since he didn't introduce himself but was wearing a suit, asked my husband about his meal since he didn't eat it. Then just proceeded to take his plate and said he would just take it off the bill. Still deciding if we will give this venue another chance since the other orders at our party were fine.
Service was extremely slow. Waited over 10 mins for drinks each time we ordered them
Our service was great inside, but the bar service outside was unfriendly and subpar. My wife and I have both worked in the service industry in Louisville, Nashville, and Chicago, so we get that a rooftop bar at an upscale restaurant can be stressful, but that comes along with the territory of making good money. Bottom line is when you go out for drinks and nice dinner there are several components that make paying $14 for a cocktail & $35 for an entree worth it, and 8 Up checks all those boxes (ambience, waitstaff, and food quality ), but the one area that needs improvement is the service in the outside area. This is not a one off opinion, Im writing this after my fourth visit and decided to finally give my humble opinion.
I know that when I booked this for Mother's day, I was hoping we'd be able to dine outside and see the pretty views of downtown. The weather had other plans, so I was ok with being inside on the cold, wet day.
But we were not satisfied with our expensive meal. First of all, it was a buffet, which I understand for Mother's Day. But the food was not ok. The hot brown was dried out, but at least that seemed to actually have been made in-house. The mini quiche and biscuits were cheap frozen products. The coffee wasn't hot, nor was it refilled often. The variety on the buffet was minimal. The "prime rib" looked like a little burnt end of a chuck roast. For $40 per person, we would expect excellent food. This was not excellent.
Save the parking money and enjoy a better view and food at RiVue.
I was very impressed that the service from manager. I wanted something green and prepared as a delicious salad. I will most definitely return.
For what we paid for the Mother's Day brunch, the food and service was not up to par. Omlettes were not made to order - sent all back to be remade. Obvious pre-frozen items on the food bar, had to make your own waffle and the drink prices very outrageous - $12 bloody Mary and a small orange juice was $4.
There are not enough words to describe it! It was wonderful! The inside decor was just beautiful and food was the best I’ve ever had. The outside patio was just beautiful. We sat out on patio and had wine and cheese tray. Definitely coming back here soon!
Great service. Food was fresh and delicious. Nice atmosphere.
Upon arrival we found the lounge and reception to be lively and fun. We opted for the dining room where it was quiet and quaint. The Salmon Tartare was delicious and the steak was perfectly prepared. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent scene, great food and drinks, attentive staff
It’s a great atmosphere! But the service sucked. Sat outside for 45 min before someone came to our table (and we were just a party of 2 on a Monday night) . And when she did, she was only coming to grab her receipt from the last party. The hostess tried to make things right by bringing us a free appetizer. It’s a great place to hangout and grab drinks, but just expect to wait a long time.
We had a reservation that they did not have set-up until 15 minutes afterwards. The place was not busy so I don't know why we had to wait. They only had part of the brunch menu, which was a buffet. The bacon on the buffet was not cooked all the way. They had everything in metal holders that would slam open or closed and disrupted everyone. They also served me one of the worse Bloody Mary's I've ever had. I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy
Honestly, I was very disappointed. I was happy to get “high top seating” for Oaks night. However, when we arrived, we were told there was a “set” menu for the evening at $125/person!! I have taken guests out on Oaks night for 25+ years, to nice restaurants. I am accustomed to limited menus, but not one that is that expensive and especially NOT being told ahead of time!
Luckily, we were able to find a table in the bar area. The short rib pizza was great and the brussel sprouts were very tasty. Service was average, but given it was one of Louisville’s biggest nights, we had no issue with that.
I did not know it was a pairing menu when I made my reservation or was that shared when I called to confirm. The meal was lovely but more than we wanted after a day at the track. We enjoyed our time a the service was pleasant. I’d recommend just trying to grab a seat in the bar over the restaurant.
The atmosphere and rooftop lounge is awesome! But the food and drinks are very pricey for what you get. You are definitely paying more for the view and atmosphere.
Excellent. It could have used a little more seafood and smoked salmon
Go for drinks - not food; at least in terms of the Sunday lunch buffet. Coffee at room temperature, with the food only slightly warmer. Want water glass filled? Take a trip to the bar. Waffles? Make your own. Looking for the omelette (or any egg) station? Fugataboutit. Looking for the seafood station? Hidden on the opposite side of the bar.
Seriously - this is not a food place. Go for the wonderful rooftop.
The staff seemed very unprepared for Easter brunch. But when things were ready it was tasty and a lovely place to spend time on the beautiful patio.
Some friends and I went to celebrate my birthday. We were 20 minutes early for our reservation (we thought there would be more traffic) but our table was already prepared. Our waiter was very nice and patient with us while we decided on wines. He was also very concerned when we brought some food allergies to his attention and worked with us for substitutions. One of the best dining experiences in Louisville.
The wait staff were terrible, they didn't know what was on the menu and didn't seem to know who should wait on our table. We were told that we would be able to see the fireworks on the river but couldn't see anything. Very disappointing evening, our first time visiting Louisville.
Let me start with a caveat, I never write bad reviews. The food was not good. My husband sent back his food twice (he NEVER sends anything back) it was that undercooked. Mine was so hot I burned my mouth. The atmosphere is great, but we will never return to eat dinner, EVER.
Our first impression was great as we walked off the elevator. However, we were very dissappointed that a family with 2 kids no older than 7 who were screaming, yelling and watching an iPad with the volume on high. Then the 2 women at the table were obnoxiously loud. For the price of $85 for 2 people to eat a meal I would expect fine dining with no yelling or screaming kids. The food was okay. The salmon needed another minute or two, it was cold in the middle (the risotto was great!). The chicken was GREAT. Potatoes were way, and I mean WAY over cooked. The veggies which I believe they were carrots, were hard and crunchy and under cooked. Overall I would not recommend this resturant for the price. The enviornment is not what it is portrayed to be online either. The pictures make it appear to be very nice, intimate fine dining, but it was not.
Amazing experience! Food was delicious. Ambiance was wonderful. Highly recommend.
Awesome service and atmosphere
Was expecting the place to be busy, but it wasn't at all.
Very little options on the menu, food was small compared to price, only good thing was the view. Staff is very nice and helpful, but it didn’t make up for the food.
The service was awful. Server was told from the beginning that we needed to leave by 7:30. Spent two hours there with no ability to have dinner because the server wasn’t attentive. Drinks were watered down and cost was outrageous for what was received. Took forever to get last round of drink and check, even after asking a manager. Very disappointing experience.
Serving a gin and tonic without citrus has happened once or twice in modern history and both times led to wars... With tRump in office and the worst G&T, expect another?
