The atmosphere and rooftop lounge is awesome! But the food and drinks are very pricey for what you get. You are definitely paying more for the view and atmosphere.
Excellent. It could have used a little more seafood and smoked salmon
Go for drinks - not food; at least in terms of the Sunday lunch buffet. Coffee at room temperature, with the food only slightly warmer. Want water glass filled? Take a trip to the bar. Waffles? Make your own. Looking for the omelette (or any egg) station? Fugataboutit. Looking for the seafood station? Hidden on the opposite side of the bar.
Seriously - this is not a food place. Go for the wonderful rooftop.
The staff seemed very unprepared for Easter brunch. But when things were ready it was tasty and a lovely place to spend time on the beautiful patio.
Some friends and I went to celebrate my birthday. We were 20 minutes early for our reservation (we thought there would be more traffic) but our table was already prepared. Our waiter was very nice and patient with us while we decided on wines. He was also very concerned when we brought some food allergies to his attention and worked with us for substitutions. One of the best dining experiences in Louisville.
Let me start with a caveat, I never write bad reviews. The food was not good. My husband sent back his food twice (he NEVER sends anything back) it was that undercooked. Mine was so hot I burned my mouth. The atmosphere is great, but we will never return to eat dinner, EVER.
Our first impression was great as we walked off the elevator. However, we were very dissappointed that a family with 2 kids no older than 7 who were screaming, yelling and watching an iPad with the volume on high. Then the 2 women at the table were obnoxiously loud. For the price of $85 for 2 people to eat a meal I would expect fine dining with no yelling or screaming kids. The food was okay. The salmon needed another minute or two, it was cold in the middle (the risotto was great!). The chicken was GREAT. Potatoes were way, and I mean WAY over cooked. The veggies which I believe they were carrots, were hard and crunchy and under cooked. Overall I would not recommend this resturant for the price. The enviornment is not what it is portrayed to be online either. The pictures make it appear to be very nice, intimate fine dining, but it was not.
Amazing experience! Food was delicious. Ambiance was wonderful. Highly recommend.
Awesome service and atmosphere
Was expecting the place to be busy, but it wasn't at all.
Very little options on the menu, food was small compared to price, only good thing was the view. Staff is very nice and helpful, but it didn’t make up for the food.
The service was awful. Server was told from the beginning that we needed to leave by 7:30. Spent two hours there with no ability to have dinner because the server wasn’t attentive. Drinks were watered down and cost was outrageous for what was received. Took forever to get last round of drink and check, even after asking a manager. Very disappointing experience.
Serving a gin and tonic without citrus has happened once or twice in modern history and both times led to wars... With tRump in office and the worst G&T, expect another?
It took FOREVER to get our food. However the waiter and the Manager were great in acknowledging this. In fact they “comp’d” our drinks, which we didn’t ask them to do. The Manager also gave us a voucher to return another time to give them a 2nd chance. We will.
Don't understand the hype. Definitely will not return. Main entree meats were acceptable but the sides were very bad. Was very slowly and wait staff rude. Very disorganized.
Our dinner was fantastic. My wife is pregnant and has gestational diabetes, and we we’re unsure of what appetizer we could have. We took a flyer on the brussel sprouts and they were phenomenal. My wife and I kept commenting on how we did not anticipate liking those that much, but we cleaned our bowl! I ordered the salmon and the combination of the risotto and the salmon and the glace was wonderful as well. Your chef/cooks should be proud of the dishes they’ve come up with.
Great food and great service. Our only complaint is that nowhere did it say in the description that it was a part of the adjoining hotel. Walking in the rain to find 8up was horrible; and had we known that it was the same building as the Hilton, it would’ve made for a better dining experience.
The first place we noticed that the restaurant was on the 8th floor of the hotel was in the elevator after just going into whatever doors we could find open.
More info on the exact location would be beneficial to future clientele.
Wine was fine. Gnocci good flavor but not hot. Brussels sprouts good. Steak not bad but not hot, decent value. 8Up does not offer bread and no other carb option was offered when we asked for bread service. Our waiter forgot to pour 1 of 4 glasses of wine then took the bottle to put on ice, then was gone for 10 minutes. He was not engaged, not attentive, and not good at his job. Great atmosphere. Hostess was friendly but not enough to make up for the poor service.
We enjoyed our dinner at 8UP. Our special dietary requirements were not an issue, and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was very relaxed with low noise, making conversation easy. Service was delightful, with just a slight delay in getting our check processed. We will definitely eat there again.
I enjoyed the food and the experience.
The waiter was attentive and informative.
The decor and views of the city from the rooftop area are exquisite and make the mildly pricey menu worth the cost. The food was creative and tasty but not extraordinarily so. Service was prompt and attentive.
Very neat atmosphere where they’ve done a good job taking advantage of being on the top floor. You’d never know this was in a hotel, feels more independent. Food and service were very good. Entrees seems a bit high but all other prices seemed appropriate for the quality of food.
But with only one vegetarian option, that was only so-so we were a bit disappointed. Salads were great as were our cocktails. Dessert also wasn’t that great. It’s challenging eating out as plant based diners to begin with and my husband is an amazing home chef. It was just a let down when we know it had the potential to be better.
Large party for my birthday. Excellent service and awesome food!!!
Birthday. Ambiance was great. I think menu should carry a few more items.
Very nice place to share with friends and family!!!
Price of the food does not justify ambient, quality of food and service. Very expensive.
Great date night! Seated and served quickly. Server was knowledgeable and made great recommendations, and gave us plenty of time to talk before ordering. Food came out quickly and was very good, high-quality. Would go back!
The mussels didn't really have much flavor. The muscles were good but the broth/seasonings can be improved. Ceasar salad OK. The brussel sprout appetizer was excellent and the hot brown was delicious. Shaved tender turkey, the cranberry was a nice touch great bread.
They only have 1 chardonnay on the menu by the glass and they were out of it (John our waiter said because of Valentine's Day they were out. Seems like poor bar management to me?!
portion sizes a bit small, but very delicious! will definitely be coming back!
The electric violinist was directly behind our table and was pretty loud, but overall the best valentines dinner ever
Excellent atmosphere to be in and the food was immaculate.......
My girlfriend and I could not have asked for a better valentines date! The food was delicious, the drinks were tasty, the service was excellent. I couldn’t think of a complaint if I wanted to, thank you!!
Nice valentines menu 👍🏻 Little high priced, good attention
Outstanding atmosphere. We will be sure to go back again!
Food and service was excellent. Drinks were a little pricey. Noise level would have been good, except for the table next to us who spoke so loudly you could hear every intimate detail. But the restaurant itself had a decent noise level.
Excellent drinks, awesome service and great views and atmosphere! Highly recommend!
Best meal ever!
My wife’s burger came out
We went on New Years Eve and had to order off the fixed, 5 course menu, which was fine. $75 each + drinks and tip = $280.00. Very poor value. Food quality ranged from “ok” on the high end, to below average on the bottom end. Pretty disappointing considering the food was excellent on a prior visit. Perhaps it was the fixed menu and they are better when you can order whatever you’d like. Certainly wasn’t worth the $$$ on this night.
Came here for NYE because it was connected to the hotel. Limited menu due to the occasion but still good options. Salads were doable but expect to pay money for any entree. The portions were smaller but it was very delicious! And you'll pay for the drinks. Maybe not the casual drinking spot but great for a quiet date night. And our waiter was awesosme. Very knowledable and friendly.
