The restaurant was closed!!!
Once we ordered it took 45 minutes for the entrees to get to us and the entree was cold.
The food wasn’t great. It wasn’t tasty at all m. It was just edible. They need to replace the chef and revamp the menu. It’s either the person can’t cook or the menu is just awful . I didn’t think someone could ruin lamb kebab.
The appetiser was great but the mains were mediocre at best. Service was down right terrible.
8th Hill is trying hard to deliver an upscale dining experience under pandemic rules. The food is good, the service is prompt, and they give you real silverware, not plastic. But you're eating on a busy sidewalk, under construction scaffolding, next to fairly heavy traffic. So ... it's a compromise.
the food was not good. Hummus had no flavor. the grain dish was flavorless and the vegetables in it were few and one was sweet something. the fish was tasteless, the vegetables were tasteless. the desert was bland.
you need a new chef.
The experience could not have been better! Excellent food, great and friendly service and a beautiful outdoor setting! We love supporting our local restaurants during these hard times! We are NY STRONG!
Excellent spot for a healthy, light dinner safely outside. Well spaced tables, friendly service, good food, reasonably priced.
Casual dinner with an old friend. At one point they had a live performer for like 20 mins, which was nice. Great ambiance, great food (we got a simple salad with cucumbers and tomatoes, grilled shrimp and braised short rib)
Very good outdoor option in the Isabella space. Food and service are excellent. Plenty of social distancing space.
Amazing food , wait staff , environment .
I was not crazy about the dish I ordered. It was recommended by the waitress but did not like it at all. Even my boyfriends dish looked ‘poor’. The terrace was nicely done but not impressed at all with the food. Will not go back.
The food is very bland and needs seasoning. Second time at this restaurant and it's the second time we were disappointed. The setting is nice. The staff is helpful but a bit disorganized.
Food came out cold. One meal was good. The other one mediocre. Service could be a lot better.
We had a great time. The food was very delicious! Service was excellent and the waitresses were so friendly and helpful with the menu.
Nice service with good food. Definitely recommend it :)
Great atmosphere, awesome outdoor space, and terrific wines and food.
Very polite staff and efficient service. Maintains social distancing protocols.
Third time back. Our server Sam is wonderful. This time there was such nice music, that sounded live, coming from the speakers in the plants. Great outdoor dining!
Well spaced tables outdoors with good food, great service and reasonably priced. What more could you want?
The wines were all good selections and the food was delicious. Bread was warm and fresh. Nice seats outside - other than the sun seats. Need covering for all seats.
Amazing drinks, nice outdoor ambience. Tables spread far apart. Food was INCREDIBLE.
Always delicious and marvelous. Meat melts in your mouth. Best Turkish!
We came on Sat 4 July '20...5.30 pm table:
Your Rose was excellent. The gentleman who waited at our table was considerate, patient, and most helpful. Sorry, I didn't ask his name...but he deserves all your support, financial and a promotion too.
Good addition to the UWS. Had lunch under awning outside.
Dined outside and our server Sam was terrific and so nice. Great food and wine! We will be back!
Great experience given the circumstances re coronavirus.
Wonderful place. The waiter was so helpful, and his suggestions (which we got) were exquisite. Everything we had was sublime. All the dishes had interesting textures and flavors. The portions were perfect. My date took note that they did not remove his plate while I (the lady) was still eating, which is a rare phenomenon nowadays but shows class.
I had the grain salad supplemented with char-grilled octopus. He had the heartier "Shaslik". We split the Tarama for dessert which was so interesting and well balanced with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My boyfriend even tried Turkish coffee for the first time, or what I lovingly call " delicious jet fuel". All in all, we will be back and hope this restaurant sticks around for good.
Great restaurant-friendly service and delicious food
We had a wonderful evening
I honestly have never had a bad meal here. The food is excellent and the wait staff is always extremely friendly. Tonight there was a table of people that were being particularly rowdy and the staff offered us free dessert because of it which was a very nice gesture. Highly recommend this place
The food is very good and the large glass windows let in tons of light. The service is pleasant, although last time I was there for lunch it seemed like they were down one waiter to handle the crowd.
I can eat the assorted mezze plate as an entire meal. The fried calamari is also excellent: light and crisp.
There is a $24 prix fixe lunch which is a good value and has something for everyone. You can also order from the main menu.
What a gem of a restaurant! Everyone goes the extra mile to make sure clients are served well with a smile. The food is outstanding. Some of the best eggplant, shrimp and octopus. Everything tastes fresh and everything shows how much attention they pay to detail. Nothing seems ordinary. GO and try them if you love great Mediterranean food. Even their bread is fresh baked and comes out warm and wonderful.
Living in nyc for 20 yrs I definitely have my favorite spots listed and 8th Hill is on the top of the list.
The staff is super friendly and welcoming , There is always a nice looking crowd there, men and woman so definitely come for happy hour. Great selection in wine as well
Now let's talk about the food, first they have the most amazing soup the lentil soup! To die for in fact whenever I'm sick or feeling under the weather I crave this homemade soup.
Their octopus is amazing the chicken skewers are also another dish I get , and oh and zucchini pancakes delicious. You can't go wrong with this place it's on my top 5
I really liked this restaurant from ambiance, food to cocktails.
We tried the red sangria, which was delicious and not overly sweet.
Complimentary bread came to our table and was decent. Two of us shared a babaganoush appetizer with pita and it was very flavorful and a large portion.
Our main courses were the chicken and mussels. Both were seasoned well and memorable. Our service was great, checked on just enough, but not in your face too much.
Loved having dinner at this gem called 8th Hill. I told a bunch of people about this place as soon as I left.
Service is really attentive and friendly. We had a reservation and got a table right by the window, but we were told that another reservation was coming in an hour and a half. This was fine because the service and food were pretty quick and we actually never felt rushed.
We ended up getting a bunch of mezzes: hummus (tasty and creamy, pita was fire), babaganoush (great smoked flavor and texture), burrata (maybe the best I've had). We also had the Mediterranean salad - really fresh and bright. This inspired me to make my own at home.
Overall a really great experience. We'll be back!
Looking for a light lunch to share on a sunny Sunday and I remembered I wanted to try this place. I'm so glad we did.
First the service at the bar with our friendly bartender was outstanding.
She said yes to everything we asked for... light ice in our drinks. No problem. Medium well on the steak. In other words, they are VERY accommodating and didn't make us feel weird about it.
We sat at the bar and shared that steak sandwich along with a couple of fruity Rose Sangria's. It was a really nice day and meal. Felt like family. Stop in but late in the week for dinner. Wonderful and will be back.
The food was not good. The rolls were almost frozen on the inside, multiple entrees were served without the proper items listed on the menu. Would not go back.
Seating was prompt for Sunday brunch (before the rush). But the following missteps occurred: 1 - chargeable water brought even though tap requested; was sent back, but remained on bill at end. 2 - companion's bloody mary was so salty he could not drink it. 3 - companion ordered omelette without the feta cheese - it arrived with feta cheese. In each case the problem was made good, but one should not have to keep requesting corrections. Provided rolls very nondescript.
On the plus side, my eggs benedict and accompanying screwdriver was good, and the prices are decent, considering a brunch drink is included. Atmosphere is pleasant, had gotten quite loud by the time we left.
On Friday night they have live music which makes conversation nearly impossible. Service was very good,
