This is one of the best Turkish restaurants we've come across in the five years of living in the UWS area. The food was phenomenal and the service was excellent. It's a great place to visit to try Turkish food and couldn't be more authentic.

The ribs gets its own paragraph. It's such a classic dish, and this was the best I've ever eaten. Everyone at the table was completely entranced with the perfectly flavorful sauces, delicate bread, and juicy meat. You must get this.

Our Turkish tea and coffee were perfect and beautifully presented, with lovely little sweets, and we didn't feel rushed to get out.

Overall an absolutely wonderful restaurant, completely deserving of its many accolades! I can't wait to be back in town to eat there.

Great experience! The food was delicious. We ordered all vegetarian dishes. There was couple entrees for vegetarians, but with all the mezes, it was enough!

We absolutely loved their signature cold mezze - manca. So much flavor. The falafels may just be the best we've had. The red lentil soup was a bit under salted, but was delicious once we added a little salt. The complimentary bread was served with butter and cheese. All the appetizers were delicious!

The vegetarian entree baby okra was also undersalted, but was good once we added some salt.

The almond pudding was a lovely light dessert to share to round off a wonderful meal. HIGHLY recommend!

8th Hill is the BEST Turkish restaurant in NYC. This was the first time I ever had Turkish food and it is simply to die for! This became my husband and I's regular date night spot when we lived in the city. The adana kebab is exquisite! The wine and coffee are delicious as well. Go here, you won't regret it!!

Excellent food here! Started off with the sampler platter of cold. The starter bread is wonderfu. We moved For entrees, we chose the lamb chops (of course!) and the kebabs wrapped in bread. Both were delicious. The lamb was very tender and tasty; I just like it with a little bit more salt. It also has a very strong lamb taste (some of you will understand what I mean by that, lol) and not everyone likes that.

All this food is way too much for two people, but if you follow my reviews, you know I like to order the whole menu... because who knows when I'll be back!

-Good service
-Food is prepared very quickly
-Loud atmosphere
-Tables are closer together; can hear conversations of the table right next to you

8th Hill was a great restaurant where they welcome you with a smile and seat you quick.
I just got back from dinner at 8th Hill Restaurant and Excellent Turkish food in a cozy setting with impeccable service! It was not too crowded. The lamb chops were exquisite. Perfect! The chicken kabab was also wonderful. Both came with side dish, which was deliciously prepared. The 8th Hill salad was excellent and large enough for a complete meal.
We split the special dessert that is made with "sweet cheese" and shredded filo pastry. It was unusual. We liked the ice cream very much, but the texture and taste of the cheese and the sweet, crispy filo were what we were expecting the service was perfect--attentive but not intrusive. Our water glasses were never empty and our plates were cleared.
Definitely a great spot to pick up or dine there.

The menu was expensive, the food was awful and the service terrible. No wonder the restaurant was empty. I can’t imagine it will stay open for long. The worst evening in a very long time.

The food at 8th Hill is delicious. There is good space between tables so you’re not on top of your neighbors and it was not noisy.
On a recent Monday evening, the service was unfortunately slow though. We had to call over the server to place our orders and it took a while to get our drinks. I’d try 8th Hill again another night because the food was tasty and it seemed like they just had an off night.

Very authentic Turkish/Mediterranean food. Everything was fresh and delicious- we really enjoyed the grilled Dorado (filet), that was crispy on the outside but moist and flavorful on the inside. Also loved the lamb chops- so juicy and the marinade gave great flavor. Both came with nice sautéed veggies and crispy potatoes. Almond pudding for dessert was phenomenal.

Service was great; everyone friendly. We will definitely be back to this new (four months old) restaurant!!!!

There was an issue with staffing which delayed the meal considerably but the owner Sam was very gracious & comped our meal and desserts. We will give it another chance in the future.

Although the waiter was very helpful in describing several items on the menu, he then ignored us for almost 15 minutes. Our appetizers arrived before our first round of drinks. Nonetheless, the food was beautifully presented and each of us enjoyed our meal.

Fantastic!

Great food, great ambiance and excellent service. When i find out this place is open for just 4 months, i was shocked because doing a business in this level in very short time is exceptional! I will be back again and again.

FYI: All items that we tried was delicious but their branzino in traditional way and octopus were “die for it” ! We are glad to have this kind of business in UWS!

Delicious food... from their mezes to wine to the main course. Lentil soup was amazing and so were the other vegetarian dishes. Our friends - who eat meat - said that the lamb here was one of the best they have had.

I was so excited to try a new restaurant that was so highly rated while in NYC with my team last week! 8th Hill did not disappoint. My friend and I were the first to arrive, and we were deciding between the two rosés on the menu, when our server offered us a taste of each - very nice! We opted for the drier of the two, which was served in chilled glasses which I thought was an awesome touch. Nothing better than a super cold glass of rosé, in my opinion.

When the rest of our group arrived, we ordered a selection of appetizers. Hummus, falafel, and a baked shrimp and feta dish were just some of the dishes among many we shared. This was a great start to the meal and everything I tasted was delicious.

The chicken dish I had my eye on wasn't available that night, so I opted for the baked salmon with creamed spinach. My other thought was to go for the off-menu dumplings in Greek yogurt sauce, but I will have to try those next time. The salmon proved to be a great choice - a nice mix of healthy and rich/savory on one plate.

Everyone was stuffed after their meals and we skipped dessert. It's worth noting that service was excellent and the staff worked together so you could make eye contact with any of the servers and they would be right over to help (usually just for another glass of wine since they were so on top of everything else, including water refills). I would happily return for another meal.

Excellent dining experience!

The menu was very unique, food was tasty, staff was friendly and courteous, and food was reasonably priced for the location.

This was my 1st time dining here and will recommend it to others looking to try something new.

Absolutely fantastic food - we had a wonderful meal here. The ambience is very nice and it is a good location for a date. The lavash-wrapped kebab was delicious and they had the best kunefe that we've had between many Turkish restaurants. We recommend that anyone try this out and we will definitely be going back again.

Noisy and crowded. Dangerous seating by open staircases. Food is marginal - especially fried food. They reuse the cooking oil and it leaves a rancid taste on the food. What a pity - it's a great location.

This was our second visit to this restaurant with a mezzanine. We enjoyed out first time because they had just opened and we ate early. This time it was at 7 pm and on a Saturday nite. We were 5 friends, some we hadn’t seen in years from far away and to our utter dismay, were seated on the mezzanine at a table for 5 adjacent to a loud party of 10 or 11 young women. The din was terrible! The restaurant is totally open and noisy. There are no surfaces that absorb noise. We couldn’t hear the person next to us. We watched as others sampler parties came up and wanted to move downstairs. We bolted our food to get out of there and saw that another table for 5 downstairs sat empty the entire time we were there. We will not be going back for dinner there.

We went there to celebrate my birthday. The food was good but not as much as you usually expect for brunch these days. Tasted good and healthy options on the menu. Just not really anything special in my opinion. I thought the decor was lovely but a bit disappointed in the overall experience. Wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

Went to 8th Hill the first time this past weekend with a party of four. The food was consistently excellent and we tried many different items. Nothing disappointed at all. Our server really hustled and the manager was on the floor working hard also and both were very pleasant. Things were a touch disorganized - took too long for the bar to make the cocktails, some appetizers lagged (we share everything so no one was kept waiting). It seems like the growing pains of a new place. But we were impressed with how nice and diligent the service was (our waitress was literally standing at the bar pushing the bartender to make our drinks) and we loved the food, so we will happily return.

Very UNINSPIRED food; soggy cream soaked spinach beneath salmon, which was served rare, when I had requested medium well. All food was quite bland. Music was too loud.
A very diappointing dinner. A neighborhood restaurant we would not consider returning to.

Without a doubt the worst meal in years. My husband started with liver with onions. It was served sliced up and deep fried with raw onions. We sent it back. Dorado fish was fine but salads dripping in olive oil. Desserts were not homemade. Too sweet and a date confection that was like frozen ready- wip. Wine by the glass made this meal quite pricey. This place will never last.

We enjoyed our first dining experience at 8th Hill. The food was excellent. We had the salmon and the burger. Both were perfectly prepared. The bread is amazing! And the wine selection is quite good - the sauvignon blanc is a nice selection. The seating is very comfortable. There is ample room between tables. The neutral tones of the decorating are soothing. Service was good, but varied by server. Some were much better than others. We will return to the restaurant.

Just wonderful for brunch. The restaurant is lovely, comfortable and quiet. Brunch was delicious (though no drink or coffee was included in the price of the dish). The jazz piped in was not overwhelming, and we were able to carry on a conversation. Very pleasant.
