Terrific first experience at 8Eleven. Everything from the Blueberry Coconut old-fashioned to the crab croquettes and the mushroom Bologna’s was excellent. The service from our waiter Ian was fast and attentive. We will definitely be back.
Maybe if I were 45 years younger, I'd appreciate this place. I don't like loud music, lethargic service, lukewarm food, and overpriced everything. If this is supposed to be training for Purdue students, it needs a teacher who has been doing it for 90+ years. It seems like the kitchen is far too small to support the number of diners. 20 plus minutes for a piece of pie is ridiculous.
Amazing atmosphere, service, and food. My favorite place in Greater Lafayette to celebrate.
While the food was good, the service was very poor. After being seated, we were not approached for at least 15 minutes and finally had to go up to the hostess and ask for our waiter. When he did show up, he brought us a carafe of water, but no glasses. That took at least another 10 minutes to get glasses. After we ordered, it took at least another half hour to receive our food. On top of that we were seated in a small room with a large group of extremely loud college kids. We could barely hold a conversation. I will never return.
Food and service were both very good. Each menu item was tasty and generally well prepared.
Service needed some polish that could come from additional training. Wine service and overall attentiveness could be improved but the server was very friendly and polite so it was not an issue.
The only food complaint would be the braised beef. It tasted great but even with the deliciously luxurious sauce, the cubes of meat were insanely dry. They were tender and fell apart in your mouth - but only to suck up every molecule of saliva you could produce and end up in a ball of dry mush that was difficult to swallow without washing down with any liquid within reach. I suppose using a more fatty meat or adjusting cook time could solve this issue. Again - very tasty and flavorful, tender but powder dry in the mouth.
French Dip sandwich was remarkable as were the escargot, bone marrow, and cocktail shrimp.
Overall, highly recommended for a great evening - Next, we want to go for brunch.
Wonderful dinner, service and atmosphere.
We went to eight-eleven to celebrate my son’s admission to Purdue! I had their signature old fashioned (cocktail) and immediately texted my friends about how great it was. We started with the escargot which were perfect- not too chewy - and the garlic basil butter had just the right amount of salt. My son gobbled all the rustic bread it was served with. We split a Cesar salad. He had the filet Oscar which was cooked to perfection, and I had the diver scallops. It is easy to ruin scallops (I’ve done it many times at home!), but these were not. The scallops stood confidently in that narrow space of being cooked just enough and not too much. Even though the portion sizes are small by American standards, we felt satisfied enough to not be tempted by dessert. I’m very much looking forward to returning over the next four years!
Fries were particularly good. Young man waiting on the table was really classy.
Sorry....I find it aggravating to not be able to send my ratings without writing something.
Our first time to 8Eleven was for my mothers birthday celebration. It was a great experience, and the food was amazing!
We were in town to visit our son for Easter and we had an amazing dinner at 8Eleven. The food was amazing and we did not feel rushed at all, we were able to truly relax and enjoy our time together. The staff did a great job making guests feel comfortable and safe in these crazy times. Thanks guys!
Unexpected surprise in the Purdue Memorial Union. Instead of a “Faculty Club” atmosphere with anticipated cafeteria-style banquet food, the ambience was romantic, soft music played, decor was contemporary with lots of marble and glass. And the food! Exceptional! Best restaurant in Lafayette or West Lafayette
Best French cuisine in the area! Highly recommend!
Took my family for brunch on Easter. Food and drinks were awesome. Highly recommended.
Nice Easter brunch to share with our Purdue student.
Quick service, excellent food, terrific ambiance and centrally located. Highly recommend!
We celebrated our sons 23rd birthday, the food & service was wonderful!
Great food, great service, best food in Lafayette. Ask for Grace
Visitors to the campus -
Great to have a nice place to relax and dine after o long day of driving and touring campuses.
(And eat a nice meal!)
The food was very good and flavorful. The management was attentive and helpful. Our server was outstanding very knowledgeable of the food, she also was perfectly polite we really enjoyed her. Our waitress was key to our enjoyable evening at 811! Alex was the name on our bill, we will ask for her next time.
Most elegant fine dining experience available in the Lafayette area!
Great experience and wonderful service. First time here and it was great, our guest was impressed and enjoyed the whole experience.
Great upgrade to the campus dining scene. 8eleven was excellent. Service was smooth and polished (Grace was excellent)!
Food was well prepared and presented. Thoughtful cocktail and wine list. Would definitely go back!
The staff was very pleasant and the food was very good. The French Onion Soup was one of the best we ever had. All of the food was very good.
Really great place to eat. Very upscale feel and food is delicious.
Highly recommend!
We dined here for the first time this week and was so impressed with the design, service and food!
Great job, Purdue Union Club!
We had dinner here while visiting Purdue. The food was delivered and service was very good.
Best restaurant around Purdue!
Lovely! Excellent attentive service. Hearty portions.
The only thing that wasn't good was the appetizer bread - somewhat dry and tasteless.
Really loud music. Fun atmosphere but could not hear server with mask. Escargot were tough. Cocktail service slow. Overall C+ experience. Will definitely give it another try but need to step it up for these level of entree prices.
Everything we ordered was fantastic, delicious and elegantly presented. The servers were excellent. And cocktails...get the Peppered Paloma. wow.
Well prepared food. Tasty and ample portions. On the pricy side for West Lafayette. Didn't have several dishes available that were listed on the menu.
William was an amazing server and the food tasted delicious!
Our waiter was very attentive. We were having early brunch and did not need to ask for coffee refills, he was very proactive. My husband and daughter both had the duck confit and agreed it was delicious. I had the quinoa cakes and was thrilled this low carb option was offered- it was addicting. Can’t wait for our next visit.
William took great care of us! Food and coffee was awesome.
Three plates in our party, Mussels $18, Mushroom Bolognese $18, and tomahawk ribeye the evening special. The mussels and broth were fantastic. Mushroom Bolognese tasted very little of mushrooms but of a cup of sugar instead, similar to the sweetness of SpaghettiOs when I was a child. The steak was fantastic. I could not say a bad word until the bill. Entrees at 8Eleven range from $18-$48. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill for a $140 steak. Never a warning by the server as to the price of the special before it was ordered. I bear joint responsibility for not asking, however I will not dine there again, unless someone else is buying. Warning to others, ask the price of the special(s)!
Delicious meal. Really cool setting. Service was prompt and friendly.
The food and drinks are awesome here. If you only have time to have one meal at Purdue, choose this one
Excellent experience. A great place for an upscale breakfast
Wow! Great experience for my fiancé and myself. Great service and food!
