   One of the better restaurants I’ve been to in awhile. First, the restaurant is beautiful inside, and super comfortable. Second, service was seamless, friendly, helpful and not rushy. Third, all of the dishes we had (grilled octopus, golden potato, escargot wontons, pasta, short ribs, lemon cake) were outstanding—the escargot wontons were especially memorable. Highly recommended—saw a great shout out of the restaurant in Found NY and decided to try it out with my Mom and Dad—glad I did!

   I travel internationally and have eaten at many top establishments, and I can honestly say that 87 Sussex is in my opinion, the very best I have eaten at. The cuisine was incredible, and the service impeccable, making the entire experience very memorable, therefore I’m happy to recommend this wonderful restaurant to all my international followers.    It was....okay. The service was great, as was the ambience. But the food was disappointing. The cardamom cinnamon roll was actually very unpleasant; dry, overcooked, and not a hint of cinnamon in it. The entrees were tasty, but portions were small and some odd choices detracted from the food (the Pork Belly Benny, for instance, was served on corn for some reason?). There's a plethora of brunch in JC, so it's hard to justify 87 sussex's prices.

   I booked this restaurant as a Mother’s Day brunch for my family and all of our mothers. I wanted to love this restaurant but the entrée portions are small while the cost high. I have experienced fine dining and this unfortunately, was not it. Our server was charming but there were multiple mistakes to our order, including two sets of undercooked eggs that we requested be cooked over-hard, one set which was for my sister-in-law who is pregnant. We had to make this egg request three times as the eggs were initially brought to us undercooked, then again undercooked. We did not receive the third set of eggs prior to the end of our meal. I also did not receive a freshly squeezed orange juice I ordered but amidst the egg confusion and me having to depart brunch early for work, I didn’t bother making a second request. In my limited time with my family, it was unfortunate that the meal didn’t live up to the reviews I’d read. The staff was friendly but considering the eggs were a significant part of a very small lobster benedict, half of the meal was not present for the two people in our party (both mothers). Perhaps, this restaurant’s dinner service is better but I am not eager to explore it.

   87 Sussex exceeded all expectations! We attended the Cooking Class with Executive Chef Brian Walter and it was an extraordinary experience. Gorgeous, intimate setting, fun and informative presentation, and the cuisine was amazing. Will definitely be returning for future classes and candlelit dinners.

   Absolutely incredible restaurant! We did the cooking class and wine pairing and it was such a fun night! The food was absolutely delicious, the wine pairings were perfect, and the staff was excellent. We’ve eaten here prior for dinner and it did not dissapointed. 10/10 all around.

   Easter Sunday brunch was another memorable experience at.87 Sussex. Brunch can often be a pedestrian experience, eggs, waffles, etc. Not here, the experience is elevated. Creative offerings on old standbys and new dishes that said a return visit is in order. Chef Walter has created a very special place tucked away in Paulus Hook!

    So happy to have celebrated my birthday at 87 Sussex! This was an incredible dining experience I will cherish until my next visit there. I’m already planning on returning to 87 Sussex for my next gastronomical treat! OMG, I have never had such a wonderful dining experience in my life. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys terrific cuisine and a special dining experience.
