I think this is my new favourite restaurant. We’ve been twice in a month as the food is absolutely fantastic with some lovely wines & ciders. The staff are friendly but not over the top and it’s well socially distanced - just go...you won’t regret it!

81 Beach Street is our regular and a favourite eating venue. The set price menu even with a surcharge for steak is great value, wines are reasonably priced and a variety. It was a pre second lockdown blow out and we really enjoyed it

Evening spoilt by a waitress with attitude: a brusque manner. She was rude with her remarks which was even noticed by neighbouring tables. 2nd to last night b4 lockdown so several things ordered has to be changed as were not available. The red drinkers were happy with their wine. The white wine we wanted was unavailable so with several diff preferences we had trouble finding one to suit all tastes so eventually went for the house Sauvignon/semillon which was not great. Understandable to be low on some items at this point probably but waitress was pushy and impatient. Think she was stressed by it all BUT you don’t put that onto the customers! I’ve been a waitress and am not sure she’d been properly trained in the correct way to talk to customers. Hadn’t come across her b4. Spoke to us with a condescending tone as if we were small children. I usually have a great experience at 81 and their food is mostly very good and the staff are lovely. Their Sunday lunches are delicious. There were 6 of us and just 3 had starters which were nice. 4 had burgers which were dry and a bit flabby. Great chips though. The other mains were fine but not up to usual standard. We’d hoped for a fun convivial eve b4 lockdown at a venue we all know well but sadly it was marred and we came away thinking “what a weird evening”.

I’m so glad we took our friend’s recommendation to go here for dinner. It was a great experience. I had the prawns to start, then the place and I shared the cheeseboard with my husband, he had the brisket. It was all delicious-we would definitely go back.

Excellent food, cooked to a high standard. The lunch menu (between 12 - 5pm) offers particularly good value with two courses for 12.99. Imaginative and inventive "home made" hors d'oeuvre's are particularly recommended. Staff are always welcoming and friendly.

So glad we chose this restaurant for a pre lockdown Sunday lunch with my Mum. We all plumped for the Sunday roast. I chose the pork which was delicious with nice crispy crackling. The vegetable accompaniments were fresh and tasty. The cheese board which I had to follow was first class and not the standard selection youre often presented with! Finally my top tip try the recommended gin - Warners Pear and Apple!

My husband and I really enjoyed our Sunday roast and veggie option it was amazing. The starter was so original and tasty.

As a fairly regular customer to 81 Beach Street I think that says it all. Their menu is always interesting and varied, seasonal and local, with a good choice to sort all tastes. Always reasonably priced with a good selection of wines. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Great Chef/Kitchen staff - food cooked perfectly, never had a bad meal.

I and my family have used the restaurant for small, intimate meals to large family occasions and have always been made very welcome as well as very attentive and understanding staff for some of our older relatives - so an all round great restaurant which we will continue to us.

Sadly, the ambience and service was not as good as last time I visited. Basic things wrong like not offering water with meal and wine glasses warm. We were sat upstairs so may have been because of that and limited staff. Hopefully when things get back to normal, all areas will improve. I would ask for a table downstairs, as their us more ambience.

Fish was cooked well enough but accompaniments were unimaginative. As a main dish we were unimpressed. The desert, a mousse, was very tasty and well presented. Service was efficient and pleasant. Ambience was dull. Pity. Perhaps all due to covid restrictions. The catchment of customers seemed to be 20s and 30s and they seemed to enjoy the occasion.

As always, great food and service. Slightly disappointed with my cauliflower steak, which wasn't a steak but just three florets of cauliflower. However the triple cooked chips were to die for. And as for the peanut butter cheesecake - absolutely delicious. The lady that served us most of the night was very friendly. Shame we didn't get her name to be able to call her out.

As usual, the 2/3 course menu is very good value and always comes up with a very nice starter, I had the mushrooms in cheese sauce and delicious. The steak at a supplement is always beautifully cooked and the chips to die for. Puddings are lovely too and witgh wine reasonably priced we enjoyed another very good lunch at 81

Delicious seabass. Lovely to see Chapel Down Bacchus on the wine list. Sadly Covid regs make the place look very spartan at present. Black and white artwork not helping. However, very glad to see the restaurant busy and surviving.

this was not my 1st visit and will now be my last the team at 81 are doing a great job in these hard times everything is being run exactly how it should be with the covid very safe and still serving great food

Still as good as ever. Well worth the drive from Maidstone. Really innovative and tasty side dishes. Couldn't eat it all. Superb value for the money.

After an initial problem, which was resolved immediately, I had a lovely birthday meal. The young lady who served us was excellent and responded immediately to any requests. Meal was delicious. Thankyou. I am visiting again this week with friends.

The service was excellent and everyone enjoyed their food. We had asked for a window table because our party consisted of visitors to Deal and we were given one. Our guests had a lovely view of the sea and pier. Thank you for a very pleasant experience.

Great location with direct views of the sea and the pier. Food variable - limited choices for vegetarians but the fish was good. Decor was odd and using a professional stylist would improve the ambience.

We've enjoyed a second lovely meal with friends over a few weeks. Absolutely everything was of a high standard particularly taking current circumstances into account. Definitely recommend.
