Fabulous dinner with family! Food was outstanding, and tableside flambe was fun. Everyone loved their meals. No kids menus but they easily accommodated our 10 year old with pasta. Its pricey, but there was live music and a tableside magician (he said he is there one night a month) that was amazing. A great place for a special occasion. Wasnt stuffy, we were dressed typical portland diners, parking was easy too. Note that the regular steak diane is good... you dont need the filet they upsell you too.
Really pleasant experience! Great service and nice ambience.
I have long been recommending Wilfs to my friends. Our server, Kim, achieved the right level of attentiveness. John's recommendations for dinner are always wonderful! The Portland Dine out Menu looked so delicious; we plan on returning before the night is through. Dinner here is not cheap, but it is truly fine dining, and we enjoy every moment. Truly an outstanding way to celebrate my birthday, and any other occasion. Thanks for another great night!
We hadn't been to Wilf's in a few years and found everything to be as wonderful as before. I can't think of another restaurant in Portland that's comparable in service, ambience and quality of all menu items.
We love the music at Wilf's. You can reserve a place in the lounge ($10 each for Ron Steen trio) which is the best Jazz you will see in Portland and as good as you will see anywhere. Food, service, atmosphere and drinks are great.
John, the manager, and our waiter, Doug, made this dinner and experience the special night it was for us. Thank you. Wilfs will always be in my top five choices to dine in Portland.
Fantastic service from John!
We were there on a very quiet night, and their old-world ambiance was perfect. Even saw a couple of trains come and go.
Great venue for a business lunch, thank you for the great service.
An evening at Wilf's is always a special occasion!
Waitress was delightful, lighting was marginal, music outstanding, pricing was as expected for good music dining event. Recommend very well, not highly, but a great opportunity to see good music at a comfortable venue with fairly good food!
Food was good but served cold. Server was somewhat attentive.
Classic American dining. Unimpeachable food preparation, textbook attentive service. Great music, spectacular wine list.
Absolutely loved our evening listening to Tom Grant and Shelley Rudolph perform in the bar. We had a front row seat. Great cocktails and burgers - even the vegi burger tasted good!
Enjoyed listening to great live blues music while dining.
Great place. The atmosphere is amazing and the live music is such a great touch! Generally jazz playing, but when we went it was a blues band (Norman Sylvester) and it was awesome. Food is also fantastic. Wife got tableside steak Diane and its fun to watch John prepare it.
We went primarily for the music as well as celebrate Valentines. Great music and good service but food way overpriced definitely not worth it. Special prime rib was tough and potatoes cold and salad drowned in dressing. $39 for an entree worth maybe 1/2 that.
I don't know if it's Wilfs responsibility or Groupon, but I bought the Groupon coupon specifically for Valentine's day, which is what I thougfht the promotional was for in the first place, but after arriving and being seated and reading the fine print at the end or bottom of the menu and finding out that that the Valentine's promotional Groupon coupon would not be honored was a surprise, I spent approx 250.00 for two meals which were definitely absolutely not worth the cost, To be honest, if the food was good or worth it I wouldn't be Complaining but I was and am disappointed, especially when it was for Valentine's ☹☹
Our company depends on reviews for our success so it is with trepidation that I write a negative thing about any company. We had Valentines dinner at your restaurant last week. We realize that it was a special occassion and no doubt busier than your average dinner. Our waiter was not attentive in the least and the meal (in my opinion) was overpriced. The cod was good as was the cheesecake. We like Wilf's and the history behind the Union Station but we both vowed that we probably would not return. It just wasn't a pleasant experience. Sorry, I know you try hard but we felt like beggers all night having to ask for the basics, water, bread, wine etc. in addition to having to flag down our waiter. We were beggers who ended up spending $250 dollars and regretting it I'm afraid. We wish you well and hope that Wilfs will remain a part of the Portland restaurant scene for many years to come.
Terrific service, food and atmosphere
Valentines Day. Food and service were great. Live band was excellent. Ambiance was very nice. The pricing was a little high for what we got, but still a great experience.
Three out of the four meals were great. One of us got a grisly piece of meat and should have sent it back. The ambiance was very old school elegant, but our service was not up to par. We felt rushed all night, definitely not on scale with Ruth Chris, Morton’s or other upscale restaurants in Portland.
They have live jazz Wednesday through Sunday which was s nice feature. Valet parking would be nice. We had to park in a lot across from the train station where homeless were camped, it was a bit sketchy.
I am glad we tried it and if we go again it will be in the summer when it is lighter longer!
Was an extremely limited menu only four choices our table was next to the cold door and the minute we sat down they told me that I would need to be out of there by 6:45 for their next reservation? Felt rushed and it was $235 with a 21% fixed tip for a party of TWO
Nowhere on OpenTable did I see there was a limited set dinner for Valentine’s Day at a very expensive price
Everything was perfect, except for the parking ticket I have to deal with despite parking in a marked “WILFS” spot
The live jazz music was great. The meal was good but left us wanting more. Service was fantastic & the wait staff makes you fell special with all the table side options but the table side options aren't necessary to enjoy the restaurant. No fancy clothes needed the place is a older restaurant and casual
Free food was extraordinary. Must try the prawn cocktail with flying fish calamari!!
We loved the food and ambiance!
We dined in bar because we wanted to hear the evening entertainment. It was a quiet Thursday night, most of the guests were there to hear the music. We ordered from the bar menu: steak bite pasta and the Cubana sandwich. Both were very tasty. Service was excellent and very friendly. Prices for what we ordered were a little on the high side but competitive for today’s comparable restaurants. We did not look at the dining room menu.
Excellent tableside service
Excellent experience with pretty good food and wonderful service, in a warm inviting atmosphere and live muaic.
Wilf's is a great place to have dinner before a show at Rose Garden; excellent service and good food. Will definitely be back.
Great live music and a lovely atmosphere with friendly staff.
Great atmosphere, food and music. I will go back again.
Amazing as always. We have started a Christmas tradition with very close friends that are like family and we feel that way about Wilfs! The staff is like family!
Although a little bit pricey, the food was wonderful portions are small for the price, but pretty much expect that in an upscale setting. Wonderful live music the band playing was absolutely fabulous. We got our requested seating comment the wait staff is very friendly and efficient. Definitely a place to go
It's always a treat to dine here, and I don't know why we don't more often? Think we'll need to address that situation more in 2019! Wilf's is elegant without being stuffy. The food and drinks are old-school delicious, served in a classic atmosphere. One note, music starts at 7:00 most or all nights. So if you want a quiet meal, might be best to book at table at 5:00 or so.
Wilfs is consistently a memorable and wonderful dining experience. The food, service, ambiance, and live jazz music are always superb. Maitre d John is fabulous with tableside flambe’ presentations, and wields great stories while doing so.
As always Wilf's was excellent. The staff is always great, food is very good, you can taste the alcohol in the drinks (not watered), music always great. James, one of the servers is a great example of excellent customer service, actually the definition of it. A little spendy but well worth it. It's always a 5 star experience.
Did not like my $27 very salty omelette with 2 eggs on the top with a fancy name. Has 2 bites and was thirsty all night. Don’t recommend at all. Let’s not forgot it was in the worst part of Portland. Didn’t feel safe walking in the union station at night.
As always, Wilf's doesn't disappoint. For over 20 years it's been our favorite restaurant.
