Great for special occasions, amazing view and terrific service. The food is quite good but cannot compare but you are paying for the view.
Service was good once we were seated. We waited 30 minutes for a table that was available the moment we checked in. Hostess skipped us in order and acknowledged the mistake as we were being seated.
Food was average. Scallops and ribeye were too salty and sent back. Meal was not memorable. The caviar oyster app was good as was the dessert, stone fruit with pear ice cream.
Recommend coming for the view and apps + drink. Not worth sitting down for a full meal.
Had a lovely evening. Our server Emily was a gracious person and we enjoyed the scenic view along with a delicious meal. Will be back again!
Poor service from the 2 waitresses. The guy that was cleaning the table was the nicest one. Too much attitude
Great staff. Great food. Great experience.
Spectacular view and good service. The food, although good enough, is not great, and at these prices, one should demand great food. The value simply isn't there. One is paying for the view. Great ambiance, professional service. Food is good. For the price, however, better food can be found in this city at half the price. It's an experience restaurant, I guess. (I did notice everyone around us was there for an anniversary or birthday.)
Best restaurant experience I’ve ever Had
The restaurant is excellent. I think the website could improve their instruction about how to reserve the window seat correctly. That would be helpful for customers to make an accurate reservation!
Food, View and Ambience. All commendable by itself. Together manifested almost magically.
What would have been a great anniversary experience, was thwarted early by the front receptionist who didn't seem happy or welcoming. She shuffled us to a poor table, calling out impersonal table # options to her helper that felt cold and obviously careless of my call into the restaurant over the weekend to tell them of our event and desire for a West facing window at sunset (which was told to me would not be a problem when I booked). After complaining of the table given (East facing and next to kitchen with noise and waiters hanging out), we were given a somewhat better option (why not present us that earlier?) The food courses started out wonderful with an intro small bite platter (excellent), 1st course egg dish and oysters (both truly fantastic), 2nd courses steak tartare (flavorless) and prawns (pretty good, but not great) and finally the main course dishes of ribeye (too smothered in sauce) and chicken (good, but nothing special). The cocktails were quite nice and I have to say all of the staff, besides the reception girl were truly excellent. Our waiter was genuinely strong and felt right for the price point. Overall, it was a good meal marred by a negative introduction that frankly ruined the experience and energy.
Beautiful restaurant up in the sky
Great friendly service and food was delicious..specially the Market Fish which was Halibut. It was to die for
Always one of the most creative seasonal menu in LA & the kitchen never misses!
When I first looked at the menu, I was not sure what to order. I knew most of the food by name, however, I had never heard of the spices that were being mixed with the food items. I needn’t have worried. All the dishes were explained including the best way to eat them. The food was delicious, with many unique flavors. I highly recommend this restaurant for the delicious food and the panoramic view of the sunset and the city lights!!!
We came in late because of our navigation and that’s my fault. We did not get a comfortable dining seat table rather we had a standing seat table eventhough we had 3 kids w/ me. We requested to be seated by the window but did not get them. It took a while before our waitress came in but she did well afterwards. The food are to die for. We’ll definitely come back but w/o the kids this time...lol. Overall, the experience is great!!!
Reunion with old friend
Great food, great service and awesome view!
I have dine with them several times. This time I had a bad experience with the host who told me that I needed to leave with in the 2 hours of my arrival.
Absolutely amazing experience!
Service was great!
The ambiance of the restaurant was very calm and relaxing. The service was spectacular and the food was great. The only thing I would t recommend for anyone to get would be the oysters that’s part of the first course meal. Other than that everything else was tasty and delicious. Would recommend anyone who is planning on going on a first time date or a birthday dinner date to go there!!!
Manolo was our waiter and he did phenomenal job, the whole team amazing! Food was delicious, we will be back!!!
Food and service was excellent along with the stunning views. Will definitely return again.
Celebrated 1 year wedding anniversary with wife. I am glad we decided to come here as the service , food and ambiance was amazing.
Everybody was nice. We booked a chefs table. Food was great. 5 course and we were fed well!
How I wish there was steak and shrimp in the menu. The view was amazing.
We did the chefs table with wine pairing. Food was great, nothing too exciting really. Everybody was so nice and friendly, but not personable. Weird, but true.
View was spectacular. That’s pretty much it. Will we ever come back? Uhm... doubt it. But who knows?!?
Celebrating 50 years anniversary
despite the cuisine and the environment is. nice it's extremely overpriced. in all the world of turning restaurants this is the most awful view thanks to pollution. And for not being a turning one it is overpriced.
dishes are small and creative but do not worth what is priced.
Ambiente moderno e ricercato.
SPECTACULAR view and service. The food quality and portions was totally garbage and too expensive!!!
We love going there
There were four of us for dinner and overall the food was very good to excellent. The scallops were excellent. The oysters were excellent. The egg was very good. The egg was more of a preference item. We all sampled the egg and it ranged from very good to excellent. The pork was very good as well. The halibut was the special for the evening and was very good. I thought it was slightly over-cooked. Again, it may be a preference thing. The view and ambiance was totally excellent. There's nothing like this in the Los Angeles area! We have been to the restaurant twice in less than six months!
Great service! We really enjoyed our visit to 71above, and we appreciated the servers knowledge of the food and her recommendations!
Surprised diners do not receive open table points. The self parking is horrendous!! Food is tasty but pricey. Hostesses could be friendlier! Server was stellar.
My recent experience at 71 above was absolutely stellar. If I had any complaints it is the slightest. The main host and the waiter need to be more welcoming and more genuine. That's it. Thank you for a great time.
