It’s was the best restaurant in the city. The view reminds you that all is possible and the chef’s plates were exquisite. I took too long to not go. It’ll be my go to place from here on out.
Truly loved this place. My wife and I enjoyed the food very much and will be returning.
The only issue was the dress code. This is something you should consider before going.
I wasn't aware that it was not being enforced so when I saw two people behind us in bright, graphic T shirts. It honestly ruined some of the experience...it no longer felt upscale...it felt tacky. I don't mind casual attire but I think if 98% of people followed the dress code posted on the site and in the email then so should everyone else. I was told that being underdressed was accepted for business reasons but how would anyone know or assume dress code wasnt being enforced?
It would have been nice to see this mentioned somewhere before spending the amount we did...
We go to upscale places to see upscale surroundings and not spongebob shirts on adults.
Great food as usual small crowd, great staff.
They didn’t make us feel special for our special day
From beginning to end, service and food was amazing!! Definitely going back!
If you don't get window seating, it's is not worth it. Food was meh and same for service. Overpriced unless you have window table.
The ambiance was nice but the food was so overrpriced and was horrible. could get better meal for $10
First time coming here and I have to say that it was a very pleasant experience! The ambiance is very nice, the views are spectacular, and the food was delicious
Great service. Drinks were great and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. I’m for sure going back. The food was just ok for the price. I loved item of a set menu with limited choices, it made deciding easy :)
Was a really nice time. Look my wife for a quiet Mother's dinner, and she loved it.
We are long time customers of 71 Above and this is the first time we were disappointed. The food was OK - not great and the strawberry dessert was not edible. View and service was great. It was much more expensive (for smaller portions) than we remember. Not sure if/when we will be back
The Worst experience ever dinning out as me and my wife were in shock of how a beautiful restaurant on the highest floor of one of downtown LA's tallest building could serve the worse possible food and still be in business.
We eat out frequently at LA's best finest restaurants and know when it comes to quality and food we know what to expect and this restaurant unfortunately has none of that.
I don't care about the ridiculous over priced menu or the automatic gratuity (tip) they put on the bill if it is equal to the experience to be happy with.
The ONLY thing to enjoy at this restaurant is the VIEW as I found that out once I inquired with a couple of my colleges at work after the horrible experience.
In advance of informing the restaurant that we are celebrating our wedding anniversary and to sort us a good table, we were given a table behind the bar with NO VIEW and we were promised a better table when one opened up near a window to get moved to (did not happen). The food is below standards to be called a restaurant as the lamb my wife had ordered was so bad that she could barely chew it.
To keep her happy I opted to switch my main entrée of short ribs with her Lamb dish, and then for me to find out that it was actually meat which was bad . Once I alerted the staff they immediately changed it for another unchewable piece of meat which at this point I was ready to walk out.
After 5 days of not getting over the experience I contacted a manager at the restaurant which they NEVER possible to get on the phone and to express EVERYTHING and his only response was to offer me a gift certificate to return to get Tortured again. I explained to him that with a free entire nights bill I wouldn't return even if they paid me.
Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this place!!
Lovely place , great for romantic dates
Everything about this was nice. The only thing is I had requested a window seat for a special occasion and they wouldn’t accommodate. Other than that, everything was great... food, drinks, fine dining at its best.
At first, we were seated at a table we weren’t quite thrilled with, seeing as we were celebrating my boyfriends birthday. However, the manager, Nelson I believe, was extremely helpful and gave us an absolutely amazing table with a view once we asked. The ambiance and food were extraordinary, and the service was amazing as well. Highly recommend for a special occasion. Everything about this restaurant met our expectations and even exceeded them, cannot wait to return.
The food was amazing as well as the view. If you don’t mind spending $250 then you’ll have a great time.
The bartender and the guy whose day was only his third day were great. They got the Sommelier when I asked a question and she was amazing too. Great experience will definitely recommend.
our waiter was excellent. very personable and accommodating!
Amazing space, ambiance and service!
We had a wonderful dinner on our 20th Anniversary😍
Great food, awesome view!! What more could you ask.
AMAZINGGGGG!!!! Where do i begin lol
I know its expensive but i think this might be my favorite restaurant in LA and so much more worth it than some Hollywood instagrammable spots.
First of all, the view is immaculate but i think thats why ppl go here for, so dont need to rave about it.
Service was amazingggg we asked window seats and we got them . So so accommodating all along. Drinks are super super good and strong!! The food is amazing too. It just wasnt dishes that i personally liked, but really good ingredients and good quality. I recommend the octopus app and cheese plate for desert. And the vibe and music was amazinggggghh.
I think its so so so worth the price!!!! Thank you for an amazing experience! <3
Loved it. Our server was knowledgeable about the wines and was able to choose some per our preferences. As always, the view is amazing.
It was a lovely.
The service was outstanding.
The food was delicious and with the great wine pairings it felt like a wonderful guided adventure.
Thank you for providing a indoor dinning experience that felt safe and welcoming.
Two birthdays... 4 great friends... absolutely the Best restaurant in Los Angeles!
so lucky to book a table for friend's birthday dinner with them!
the view at window seats is just amazing, especially btw sunset & night time, its a moment to enjoy💕
food & drink are both at the level of the height there, for sure there is some surprise🤙🏻
Wonder place for date & gathering👍🏻
Amazing place , amazing view and food
The environment is super sexy and the drinks were great. Overall the price was a bit high, so only go for very special occasions.
AMAZING GREAT FOOD AND THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT .
Excellent service! The hostess, bar tender, waiters, everyone was so welcoming and friendly, simply love it! I ordered a painkiller (with mezcal), delicious that I ordered a second. The food was the right amount and very well spaced in times. And something that I absolutely enjoyed was the music volume, no to high (loud) and not too low. I was perfectly able to hear and talk without raising my voice.
Definitely going back.
Of course the view is amazing!
Very nice place, amazing view and friendly service.
Amazing the views, the food and the wine were great
An outstanding experience !
The food was prepared and presented beautifully !
Our server, Austin was fabulous .
I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys fine dinning !
We love this place!!
Was mentioning and wrote a request on getting a window seats in my reservation but I was told my reservation was for a high chair. It’s like come on man, I’m not here for sitting inside without enjoying the city view on a high chair and I made it clear! And I’m sure two parties after us were served for a window seat while I was the first group arrived at the waiting sofa. And I was actually thinking lucky there are two window seats available at least I would get one but I end it up without one! Ridiculous! I’m not sure whether you should call it a discrimination or a do NOT understand English words! Clearly no sense at all.
Then during our dining, the server forgot about our fork and knife were taken away and made us waited for him to getting it after serving another table! While we were sitting there and looking at our food for a embarrassed conversation!
Finally we finished eating and were trying to ask any server for helping with a photo. The server was clearly smiling while making eye contact with me and shaked his head. And then he started checking someone else out on the computer with a weird waving hand. I feel like this is very rude and unprofessional due to uncleared signal between the human beings communications.
One last thing is that, they bring the payment machine on your table and want you to tap and slide card on your own to pay them. I’m not sure whether this is a new creative way of getting paid. For a 294 dollar dinner, i feel like at least you can do the work for me while getting your 15% tips!
I hope everyone else won’t get this kinda worse experience like me.
I would like to give compliments to Manolo in particular. It was sooo nice to have him as our server. Not only did he recommend the short ribs that were amazing!!!!! But he took it upon himself to escort us down to the 69th floor to accommodate us with a spectacular view for the sunset. He is truly an example to follow and we will be returning. Mostly for the food and his service. Thank you again Manolo!
Sat at a bad table and service was poor
Romantic, Best view ever!!
Loves the food and drinks were great.
Amazing night and service!
It was my husband’s birthday and I wrote about it in my reservation . Nothing special was offered, no candle, no cake or cocktail . I left the dinner feeling hungry , small portion on plates . The only good thing is the view of the city ! No more !
