Offering elevated modern American cuisine by Chef Javier Lopez, 71Above boasts breathtaking ocean views from Malibu to Laguna Hills, along with spectacular views of Los Angeles and the surrounding mountain ranges. The Restaurant and Skylounge have a Smart Casual dress code. Jackets are not required however, no hats, athletic wear, shorts or flip-flops are allowed. Reservations are held for 15 minutes.

    Loved it just needed a window seating would of been the awesome would of made our special night even extra special, the host didn’t even try to sit us next to a view as I had ask even they I mention it was my 19 year anniversary I would of waited at the bar had a few drinks until someone was done but no, the waiter that sat us down was way helpful than the host

    Amazing service, amazing food, amazing ambiance. Highly recommend for a special occasion where you want feel special. Heather our waitress was so wonderful and accommodating and the whole staff worked so well as a team!

    The restaurant is beautiful, ambiance and views are amazing, however the food was not tasty. My husband and I are foodies, the quality of the food was good, yet it was not seasoned or cooked well.

    Everything was absolutely perfect for my girlfriend and I’s anniversary dinner. Just wish we were able to get a table by the window. Especially when the couple that checked in before us had a reservation for 7:30p and got one and ours was for 7p and we didn’t. Hopefully next time. But other than that, everything was absolutely perfect!

    Went last night for wife's birthday, been coming here over 9 years for special occasions but it's been getting worse the last two years. Made a point to make sure they knew it was wife's birthday. Our table was far away from any window, Thanh was our server and we waited 20 minutes to even be helped, order cocktails and bread (bread $7 now, was free) the bread never showed up. When we ordered we asked for wine with dinner it also never came. The Salmon was good but the Ribeye Wagu steak horrible. No candle on dessert or any kind writing like before. I asked Thanh cor a candle and he brings out two mints with a candle stuck in middle then laughs. We had to have him remove wine and bread from bill and received no apology. $450 bill for okay food and bad service, we will not be returning here. It's sad because this place was great before.

    It was a wonderful experience and evening. The whole place consistently congratulated me and my wife on our anniversary and were so kind and thoughtful. I’m super happy that they made our first experience here so meaningful. The first course Id say was okay, very salty the pasta. But the second course my gosh the Wagyu and Pork dish was immaculate. Dessert was a unique experience as well. Thank you again for your great customer service and food. Will most definitely be taking her parents here on another special occasion!

    Come in for the views, stay for the excellent wine pairings. All was excellent, except for the Ribeye. Cocktails were also extremely well balanced. Our waiter went above the call of duty to make sure my wife (spanish only) felt comfortable.

    Starters are amazing. Salmon was good. I had the worst A5 wagyu I've ever tried here. They don't know how to cook wagyu. Service was pretentious but lacking. I appreciate that they wiped the table before every course though.

    We have been coming here every year and this year by far We have been the most disappointed. It did not feel the same, it did not feel special, It used to be superb service and now this restaurant is like everywhere else. such a shame because it was amazing. Food still great. The waiters used to fill up your glass of water before you could even ask, now it feels more like a regular upscale restraunt. Also the vallet - It says $10 on every media but I was charged $15. Also it was pouring rain and the vallet wouldn't even comes to the car to receive us. My husband had a run back and forth 3 or 4 times. We come every year for his birthday, we don't have much money so this means the world to us. He said we don't have to come back again. It was not worth it. Food is superb! Also waiter was nice just as a whole just not the same level of service.

    It ok, food was adequate but nothing to run back for. We were prepared for this as previous reviews have said ,you pay for the atmosphere and view..unfortunately, we picked a night with a heavy marine layer, so we had dinner in a cloud..So we got an adequate $350 dinner ..

    The atmosphere was beautiful, fantastic service with knowledgeable servers. Drinks were fun and the food was the best I’ve had anywhere. Definitely will be returning.

    For the first time there I was not disappointed. It was real foggy out and we had a 10:15pm reservation. The experience with a foggy night made it incredibly memorable. Definitely see myself coming back in the future. The service was awesome and food was delicious.❤️👌🏽

    Went here after proposing to my now fiancé. Management was well aware and even though I specially requested a window table, I didn’t get one. Instead we were placed inside with absolutely no view from our table. Ohhh well, maybe if there’s a next time we will get a window.

    For as much money as we spent for dinner it would have been nice to have a better table. Sitting along a wall was not how I expected to celebrate our anniversary dinner. I get that not everyone can have a window table but the wall tables suck. It was an overall good experience but we won’t be back for dinner.

    Good experience! Food is good, they always have little surprises for us, like mushrooms soup and dessert for birthday person. We love the kiwi Jelly too. Only thing is we did not get windows seat because our party have 7 people.

    The food was outstanding, the service exceptional, and the view was very eerie and spooky in a nice way due to the stormy weather! We enjoyed the farm salad, crudo, grilled pork, salmon, chocolate and pavlova in a very cozy and warm ambient table next to the window. When I made the reservation, I requested the view, and they were able to seat us at the window!

    Beautiful experience from beginning to end! We were expected when we arrived and we were promptly taken to our seats. Our waiter was amazingly attentive while being extremely knowledgeable about the menu. We opted to get the wine pairing with our meal which I highly recommend! We had someone personally come out and tell us where each of the wines hailed from and why they match with our meal. Food was brilliant complements to the entire kitchen staff. Will definitely be back.

    it felt like they were having preferences on were to sit people down. I asked for view table when. i did my reservation and didn't get it, but there were other people who had later reservations and got the view seats. we felt like they profile people once you get there. me and my husband were wearing a coat and they didn't bother to come and asked to put them away, but here was a couple who got there at a later time, and they were on them to ask to put their coat away. if we are going to pay for a service we need to be treated equally. I WASN'T PLEASE and please relay this to them.
