Offering elevated modern American cuisine by Chef Javier Lopez, 71Above boasts breathtaking ocean views from Malibu to Laguna Hills, along with spectacular views of Los Angeles and the surrounding mountain ranges. The Restaurant and Skylounge have a Smart Casual dress code. Jackets are not required however, no hats, athletic wear, shorts or flip-flops are allowed. Reservations are held for 15 minutes.

Valet is available at 633 W. 5th Street or Self parking is available under the building at 633 W. Hope Place. $15 for 3 hours.

I did not appreciate that the hostess presented the bill before I asked for it (that is extremely rude) secondly within two minutes she returned hovering around my table even before I was able to place my card into the bill wallet, customers should feel rushed! The steak was quite cold so it may have been left to rest for too long. I also disagree with the automatic added 18% gratuity.

If you like your mets thoroughly cooked as in grilled, this is not for you. The style of cooking proteins here is more undercooked. I don’t like steamed textured meats. Salmon looked raw, returned wagyu filet, didn’t realize is was wagyu. I know some people love that “melt in your mouth” but i can only eat grilled medium well to well done. It tasted raw. Chicken was better but again something that tasted steamed or boiled. I wouldn’t return for the mains i ordered. Maybe its just not my style of cooking. Drinks were great Appetizers were good Deserts were good

The view is nice. The food is pretty bad, definitely walked away feeling scammed. Service was okay, the place feels chaotic and impersonal. I’m glad I went just to have an opinion but I definitely won’t recommend to others.

Even if you can't get seats at a window, you'll love 71Above for a special occasion. The food is delightful, the wine list is remarkable, the views are fantastic, and the service is terrific. Our third time there, and we will happily go back.

This resteraunt is one of the best restaerauns I have been to in a while, the view gives you a different lens to look at LA through! The ambiance is warm even though we sat right next to a window in the winter. Make your reservation at 5pm to catch that LA sunset, the service was excellent, and the food was amazing. Each dish was a new experiance of flavors, and the presentation was top-notch. My wife and I both loved it, we may make it our usual anniversary place as the menu has plenty of options!

Celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday with a gorgeous view and excellent food! The chef even complimented us with a delicious off the menu soup as an appetizer! The staff is so incredibly helpful and friendly and I can’t wait to visit 71 & above again! It’s a must visit location!

The service not what I expected for a gorgeous place with amazing views and great, great food. As I was having a great conversation with my daughter the food runner decided that it was his time to shine and the center of attention by rudely interrupting and making sure we heard (he’s voice increased as we didn’t pay attention to him) de detailed description of each dish from the first course. For a high end place like this an experience like this could ruin the whole experience. We felt we were in a”mercado “ and they needed too detailed telling me what was what I ordered. We ordered it so we know what it has. That’s why we ordered it. Too much ego from this employee

Wow! First time visiting and so impressed! The staff was incredible, the food was delicious and the view, amazing! We were 3 celebrating a birthday, they sat us (in my opinion) at the best table, against the window, at the edge of the dining room with the city view as well as a view of the kitchen, which as a big foodie I absolutely love. I did the wine pairings with my 3 courses and the sommelier was very informative and gave the most amazing descriptions of the tasting notes in our wine. We went family style on every course so we all got to try 3 of each course. Our favorite was the octopus and bucatini for the first course, the ribeye and the pork tenderloin in the second and the peppermint chocolate as well as the glazed pear for the dessert. All the wine pairings were spot on and we added a wonderful madeira to go with the chocolate dessert as the wine pairing went with the glazed pear dessert. Afterwards (and towards the end of the night) we saw the chef cutting something up and when we asked our server what it was, he grabbed the chef who graciously spent a few minutes at our table explaining what/why he was doing it. Beginning to end we were all impressed and cannot wait to go back!

Beside not getting the window table for 6 for my wife's birthday even I stressed in the reservation many times (They don't guarantee which is reasonable,) the food this time was not as good like last time. The octopus was hard and chewy. The ribeye steak was also chewy. The vegies that came with it was sour. We spent more than $1k but not happy! :) Don't know if I should bring friends next time. :)

Once again a stellar experience from beginning to end. Rebecca as usual was on point but we also met Marc (sorry if it's Mark.. with a k). if the food was only ok.. getting a chance to sit at those seats, our fave in all of lalaland.. watching masters at work with great, perfectly timed non intrusive banter alone is worth the price of admission. Kudos to the staff from top to bottom & it was also great to meet Javier the chef! what a treat. The Filet Wagyu is excellent, I highly recommend 71Above to all that can make it & often.

Food was good - everything tasted fresh and was cooked well. Only thing that bothered me was that at the end of the meal, the server assumed my boyfriend was paying for the meal and looked directly at him and didn't even glance at me. It happens, so I didn't say anything, grabbed the bill, and put my card down. He came back, and - even though my card has my name on it and they saw me grab the check - he still put it down in front of my boyfriend, asked him to sign the bill, and continued to speak to him as if he was paying! A terrible interaction to end an otherwise seamless night.

My overall experience was outstanding! I was fortunate enough to get " window view" seating, which enhanced the romanticism of the night. The three course meal menu strategy was a nice feature that fits the billing of a restaurant of this magnitude. I really enjoyed the pasta dish. Although, it was only lukewarm, the king salmon was tremendous as well. The service was top notch and the waiters and waitresses were knowledgeable and on their game. If you have not experienced this dining venue, make your reservation and see for yourself!!

I took my girlfriend here for dinner and everything from valet to the elevators to us being sat at our window table was fabulous. The service was great, the view was amazing and the food was perfectly made. Cons: Cocktails are extremely expensive at $20 each but they were delicious. We will definitely be back! Ps. The yellowfin crudo app and the grilled ribeye with black garlic are to die for!

Waiter service was kinda bad our first waitress was great but the one that took over was very mean and had RBF really killed our mood for the rest of the meal. Food was mediocre Ribeye steak was over cooked and very salty.

I liked everything!!!…VIEW,AMBIANCE,SERVICE,FOOD!…everything was top notch!. I just wished we could have had a few more choices for our main course. Also, $110 extra to upgrade to filet mignon, I thought it was a little too much!…considering it was only 6oz. Other than that, everything was perfect….and would definitely be back!

I took the whole family to celebrate my moms birthday. Everyone was very polite and respectful. My mom loved the way the green her in the lobby . The food was amazing. I will definitely come again. Definitely recommend.
