Service was excellent along with the food. Drinks are strong but perfectly made. Overall perfect night!
Awesome view, beautiful dishes.
Great staff and excellent food along with great views
Gorgeous ambiance. Very dramatic views. Seating at the bar is good as you can order menu items separately which you cannot do at the tables. It is very expensive, but if you've got the means, worth it!
It was an AMAZING experience, the view was spectacular, I was here for my Bday, and the service was outstanding as well as the food! Already recommended to all my friends, and I look forward to come again!!
Incredible ambiance inside the restaurant and incredible views outside. Lunch was delicious and service was impeccable.
I ordered duck and it was under cooked. I did not send the plate back because I never ever send a plate back to the kitchen. My two guests ordered the prime rib and they were happy with it.
I had the mushroom soup for the first course which was good.
The Parsnips for the second course did nothing for me.
My server was great and everyone was very attentive to our needs.
In comparison, last night I attended a function at the Beverly Hilton with about 500 people.
The dinner was Filet Mignon and Halibut and their food was prepared perfectly.
Your chef should go visit their chef.
Generally, I was not impressed with the food that I was served at your restaurant .
I rarely complain or compose a negative review, however here, I am just being honest here.
The food and experience here was truly amazing it definitely was one if the best times I have had in Los Angeles. I loved my view it was so beautiful and the service from the staff is beyond excellent
It was disappointing. On prior occasions I felt cared for and well served, even when the food was less than stellar. Now, not only was I denied the seating I had requested, the service was absolutely NOT attentive and we were treated as less than valuable human beings. Maybe good service would have made up for the poor food, but coupled with the quite low par food, it was overall an incredible waste of over $950.00. Even though four of the five ordered the wine pairings, the manner in which that was handled would have suggested that we had ordered still water and did not know what we were doing. Shame on this restaurant.
Same on it and its staff.
Jose our server did an excellent job!!! Truly enjoyed the crudo.
Everyone was pleasant except the man at the valet. He’s one of your establishments’ frontline and didn’t make a good impression, same thing at the end of our experience as we about to leave your establishment. He’s NOT at all welcoming, friendly and/or professional.
Good food, but excellent service! And keep in mind this is a high end restaurant.
But at at a place like this where you get served a 3 dish meal with wine paring, I'm expecting to get the new cutlery and the wine served before the next dish is served. They failed on this twice.
This means that the communication between the waiters and the kitchen could have been a little better. Except that, excellent experience!
I was expecting more from the food, but the views were outstanding.
Really really good food, creative and beautifully plated, enjoyed the wine pairing and the conversation with the sommelier, amazing views and cool decor. It is expensive! Will come back for a special occasion soon
I simply loved it.
Amazing and delicious food! The service was impeccable and every person was knowledgeable of the food. Everything was amazing, and our server really took great care of us on our anniversary. Can’t thank them enough for their hospitality. The view is amazing!
Amazing service and food!
I had a perfect first evening here. My client was happy, the cuisine was amazing and the staff could not have been nicer. Thank you for a wonderful time, I will be back soon.
The ambiance was great, service superb and food delicious. We were a group of 4 celebrating a friend’s birthday and they made her feel special with the attention she received and we couldn’t have been happier with the experience. Tara was the best!
The view was great but the food tastes horrible and was in extremely small portions
71Above definitely has an amazing view of Los Angeles. Possibly the best one I've seen till date, its a beautiful location. Service was really good too, everyone was really polite and nice. We booked an appointment for dinner so our wait was almost zero minutes. Regarding food, its decent but not remarkable. Few things were good and few were pretty compromised. My husband eats meat so for him it was a moderate experience, he had quite a few options to chose from though he did get sick that night for intense stomach pain. I am a vegetarian so less options to eat which is normal, but the food was also not great in terms of the value of the meal ($78). There was a chestnut soup which was amazing, but the pasta and cauliflower were not good at all. I actually had a bad stomach for the next day which I am thinking is the cauliflower. My husband really liked the duck and mushrooms.
I would say go for the view and some wine, its really amazing to see the city especially at night! I wouldn't recommend it for food, you can find better restaurants for the same cost like Bavel or Bottega Louise.
Reasonably priced tasting menu, and the view can't be beat. Everyone serving us was very polite and took their job very serious. Great place to go, just loved it
The chicken mole was lacking mole. The rest was great, beet salad, Caesar salad and great scallops, seared perfectly.
January 2019 ~ Loved the quiet elegant service and the wait-staff is super food-smart. Not just spouting nonsense at you but really bringing the whole interest to food ordering. My gluten-free client was treated very well and shown how to gluten-hack their menu, and I went paleo hog-wild. The VIEWS remind us of what Los Angeles is all about from on-high. It stretches for miles in all directions. On a very cold January night< I valet parked at the curb, ($10 for three hours) then inside the lobby the 71Above person had my rezo in the system, waved me up a couple elevator banks (you have to transfer to get to the top) then at the top was welcomed by a black super-model who I wanted to kiss ~ the environment was so cozy and urbane. Just what I needed after a long and hectic Christmas and New Year's season. I imagine a day-visit is totally different, but at night, this restaurant is a total wow. Will continue bringing clients here when I need an elegant DTLA fix. Three-course dinner menu with 2 glasses of wine and two after-dinner coffees (no dessert) was about $250.
Took my wife for her birthday. Very romantic atmosphere. The view was superb!
Best view possible in LA! We went for lunch and were treated with excellent service and window seats. Highly recommend!
Tonight I went in to celebrate the New Year and had a phenomenal dinner. The view was amazing, the food was as savory as everyone describes it, but above all, the service was magnificent. Our server was Manolo. He was attentive and described every dish to its finest detail, that you wanted to try them all. I look forward to dining here again. Definitely worth every cent. I enjoyed the Farm Egg, the Parsnip, and the Rib Eye. My love had the Oysters, Octopus, and the Chicken entree! RECOMMEND THEM ALL!
It was a little breathtaking. Overall, it was amazing!
Had an amazing time watching the sunset.
The conveniece of valet parking, a quiet ride to the 71st floor (2 elevators) and a gorgeous city view, plenty of space around the tables, great inventive and tasty food....what more could you want.
There was 5 of us. We all agreed that the food was ok . The service was very professional and the environment and of course the view were amazing. Overall, the experience was good.
No complaints here! It was absolutely delicious and the view was amazing!
At first we were disappointed that we could only get a 10:15 reservation with a pre-fixe menu. However, after going, I feel I couldn’t have planned it better. The food was excellent, and we scored a table next to the window with fabulous views. The crowds were dying down and we got excellent service from a friendly and unpretentious staff. This was a perfect place for our 21st anniversary weekend dinner. The prefixe menu gave many great options to choose from. The main course was not as good as the earlier courses, which were amazing. The prices are meant for special occasions, but well worth it for an unforgettable dining experience.
Excellent customer service! Wonderful view of the city of angels!!! A must visit.
Awesome birthday experience
71 Above is pricey, but you get what you pay for. Certainly a unique experience between the scenery, layout and food choices. The second course pasta dish was disappointing (thus the 4 stars), but the flavors and freshness of the other dishes were exquisite. Who would think that a roasted avocado could be amazing? The scallops were among the best I have had. The service is wonderful. There is a great balance of service and attention, without feeling like they are trying to turn over the table quickly. The cocktails were fresh flavors (Southside was a favorite) and did not overpower the food. I plan to come back to 71 Above and recommend it to friends.
Waitress kept pushing us to buy additional options outside of the pre fix menu and acted surprised when we didn’t order it. That’s what happens when the tip is charged in advance — it creates an incentive for the waiter/waitress to maximize the meal price.
We had a 9:30 reservation and were not seated until 10pm. However, the hostesses showed us to the bar and retrieved us and our drinks when our table was ready! The menu had several great options and everything we had was outstanding. My girlfriend and I tried each thing the other ordered. Specifically, the oysters and mushrooms were some of the best I've had as well as the 28 day aged ribeye! We went there for my girlfriends bday and were disappointed they didn't have a special course or option for the occasion but the food was so amazing already! Also, we were full going into the third course! We also learned that you must say filtered water instead of still water, since still water is $8 a bottle!
Overall, this was some of the best food we've had!
This place promises a lot but the delivery barely makes the grade. It is supposed to be a classy venue with some dress code but it is not. The price tag would eliminate those who do not belong but the rest can wear anything they want. I do not see any class in the dilapidated pillows in the lounge which are barely visible due to the darkness. The view is of course spectacular for those few lucky ones sitting next to the window but the architect did not put any effort whatsoever to enhance the window exposure, such as staged seats, rotating floor, or any tricks that would make it a more than ordinary eatery with sky-high prices. The waiting staff tries the best to enhance the smoke and mirrors impression but even they can't go past the vodka diluted with water and a way too salty salmon. No wine pairing was offered which worked for us, but this is not what the menu promises. Overall impression is a lot of cut corners but nowhere near the WOW one may expect. For dessert we went next door to our hotel with a rotating floor and were seated next to the window without even asking for it. Our first and last time.
Fantastic view with scrumptious foods!! Highly recommend !
Aa spectacular views of LA as you can get. Good equaled the view. Service friendly and professional. Highly recommended
