Made my reservation for 9:30, I got there at 9:30, they informed me that they closed early because it "was slow". I made a reservation. Honor it.
Food was okay. Could’ve been worse but definitely had higher expectations going in.
the mussels were delicious, and my glass of rose was great. Sitting on the patio on a warm summer night was lovely. I ordered the tilapia which was yummy. We were one of two tables in the whole place!
The service was slow but our server was very nice. The food was very salty that kind a killed our taste buds
Wonderful rustic Italian food.. just a little noise from street traffic. Both otherwise great
Very pleasant sitting outside on a warm Sunday evening. We had the Prix Fixe menu for restaurant week. The food was good, particularly the trip tip and bread pudding. The service was excellent. There were only 2 other tables filled. Overall pleasant experience.
There is a reason the businesses on all sides of the restaurant are packed and this one appears mostly empty. Extremely disappointed to have made a reservation and ended being ignored and brushed off by staff after my arrival. Even when informing staff that I had a reservation, the staff member tried dismissing the idea that he needed to verify it. Left after he walked away abruptly as if we’d interrupted him from something more important than greeting guests.
Food was amazing and our server was very nice. He seemed to be the only employee and was running around from table to table with large gaps of time in between.
Pre concert dinner on a very interesting occasion. Not only was the first Sunday that the restaurant opened for dinner but they were not ready for all the reservations that showed up.
I was a bit apprehensive at the beginning, my welcome was by saying, we are not taking walk ins before even a hello!!!!!
That did not stopped us from staying and I am glad we did! Food was freshly prepared, the staff was a bit in disarray but they had so much passion for making it right to every customer that instead of dividing and conquer ( only three of them) they all did everything!!!! The ran food, took orders, bartenders, cleaned tables, check with customers and of course looked after each other. That spirit is what make me give them 5 stars! Just imagine with a little bit of direction how far those three can take that place. We had the steak, was a decent size, the tenderloin was a bit undercook and the carbonara that by the time it made it to the table was cold BUT was so delicious that I could not stop. We also had the pancetta flat bread that was a great start!
Overall, was a good discovery that for sure I hope to visit again!
Food was good, servers were pleasant but definitely very hectic. It was the night fo large concert so it did feel like they were not anticipating the large dinner rush that occurred.
Concert at SAP so slower service was expected as everyone was wanting same time... Otherwise fine experience
Small menu, staff wasn’t familiar with what ingredients were in the specials. The one thing I wanted to order, off of the small menu-they were out of. Not sure how That happened, we were the first ones there and the only ones dining. Staff was very friendly though.
We have been here years ago, it was much better then. We won’t be going back.
We were greeted promptly. The service was good. The food was excellent. It was a good meal and a good experience.
We love 71 Saint Peter. It's a great place to relax and enjoy your meal and watch the world go by while surrounded by rustic touches. Typically the service is impeccable, but this time it was a huge miss. Still the food was consistently good, I could have done without being seated next to the loud espresso machine which seemed to take the only two servers to operate it. I also don't like having to continually try to get my server's attention to ask for a refill on my tea rather than trying to enjoy the company at the table with us. Not sure if I will go back for lunch.
This was a nice quaint spot. I wasn't overly impressed with the food for the price that you pay, but it was still good. The staff were very friendly and very attentive. I would consider going back for cocktails and appetizers.
The food was delicious and our waiter Andrew did a great job serving us!
The server was very attentive and helpful with food and wine suggestions. We went before a Sharks game and sat outside. The atmosphere was very lively. The Cinco de Mayo celebrants were also very entertaining with their old cars with the hydraulics. The food was excellent, the wine selection was extensive. The pork was butter soft, cooked to perfection, smoked trout salad delicious.....
Nice location, good menu. Food was tasty.
Always good food and reasonable prices.
Quiet which I deem to be important
Probably the only downside is that the menu is quite limited
But on "hockey night" a quick and reasonable meal is all you need.
Excellent service. Servers very attentive. Food was very good but a little on the pricey side. We were a party of 6 and the bill came to an average of $35 per person (no appetizer just main course and non alcoholic drink). Noise level was not too loud so you can actually have a conversation and hear the person. Good date night restaurant. They validate parking. Parking structure is just across the street from the restaurant.
Great food and service.
71 St. Peter has always been one of my favorites and it never disappoints.
Great food but they need to do some work in there. Very old and tired. Not good ambience and it should have.
The food was good, not great, but good. I had a fish with Parmesan dish and my husband had the gnocchi. The restaurant is cute but one trip to the test room would tell you it needs better management. The back area was messy, with things stacked about in a haphazard fashion. The service was terrible. Apparently there was a party going on in the back which hobbled up the wait staff in the front. I doubt we will return.
While 71 Saint Peter is in a prime location with very nice ambiance at first glance, the food and details left us wanting more as we left our wedding anniversary dinner disappointed. We made a reservation for 7:30 on a Saturday evening and were seated at a cold small table jammed up against the corner of two dirty windows with dust and spiderwebs lining the wall. When it came time to order, we were informed they were out of the spaghetti bolognaise. When we tried to order the special the server had recently told us about and highly recommended, we were informed they were out of that as well. It was surprising the kitchen was out of entrees as it was fairly early on a Saturday night. We then picked another dish from an already small and limited menu. I will say the main thing that saved the dinner were the delicious cocktails. Maybe if we had a handful of the drinks then we wouldn’t have left so disappointed.
DID NOT HONOR RESERVATION. Booked a table for 5. When we arrived were told they were full. Said we have a reservation through OpenTable and they said they weren’t taking those bookings.
I love the intimate atmosphere but the Valentine’s Day fixed menu wasn’t very good. Especially for the price. We left there after our 5 course meal and ate at the hotel lounge. Maybe their regular menu is better.
The food, flavor wise was excellent. We had the Valentines Day menu. The soup and spaghetti squash left us wondering if they were supposed to be served hot or cold - they arrived tepid. As we had the wine paring, the pacing of the service was also off. The wine and food arrived at different times and everything felt hurried. Portion size was right, with the exception of the soup course - which was far too small. The pesto sauce was fantastic, I do not really like spaghetti squash - but really enjoyed the flavors in the preparation. Overall - good but not great.
The service was extremely slow and unorganized, the food was over priced and average at best. They sat us in the back room and basically forgot about us for Most of the evening. Portion sizes and descriptions of the food were not accurately described by the servers and we couldn’t tell who (if anyone) was actually our server because no one came over more than once every 20 minutes or so.
The restaurant is quaint and cozy, the issue stems from there only being 3 staff and a restaurant full of people. This resulted in a frenetic atmosphere and very slow service plus items missed. Our waitress tried to do all she could and needed reminders for things like missing drinks and entrees. But, this isn’t her fault- this is poor management of staff. 3 people can not adequately run a full house. The food quality was very good though somewhat small portions for the price. I would definitely try it again and hope for a better overall experience.
Great service and but very disappointing food for two out of 4 of us. The two pasta dishes were the most tasteless we have had although the pork chop and the tilapia were both good dishes according to the other two in our party.
Thank you for staying open late for our large dinner party! We had a wonderful time.
The menu is limited, and they are very inflexible about accommodating special requests. When I dine out, my favorite is a seafood pasta entre, and they have one seafood pasta item on the menu--a seafood linguine dish. However it is only available in a "white wine sauce"--no marinara or other tomato-based sauce. The "white wine sauce" is essentially no sauce, and it is like eating plain pasta with only a little olive oil as a sauce. I asked them to make a marinara sauce for my dish and the waitress said they could not do that. Others in my party had the fresh fish entre, and were satisfied.
Excellent food and service! Answered all our questions and gave great suggestions.
We were disappointed with our dinner experience, particularly with the inattentive service. Although the restaurant was not at all busy (on a Friday night--perhaps a sign!), our server brought a wrong drink, forgot an appetizer, and had to be asked repeatedly for more water. I had to get up to find flatware as my entree came and the server didn't think to bring flatware, although my knife and fork had been removed with the salad plate. Our spinach salads were delicious. My spaghetti carbonara was poorly prepared, but my friend enjoyed his pork dish. Our server didn't even ask about dessert; she just brought the check. I won't return as there are other restaurants with much better service and food quality in the area.
The food was phenomenal, our waitress was personable and friendly, and the drinks were perfection.
Had the Prix Fixe menu on NYE, which was a pretty good value at $60 per person. Most of us got the Filet Mignon medium rare, and though mine was cooked perfectly, my friend’s was more on the medium side. The service was painfully slow at times when there were plenty of servers on staff that evening. It took more than 10 minutes for our server to even greet us or take our drink orders after we were seated, and as a manager in the restaurant industry I was trying not to let it ruin our experience, but this was unacceptable. The ambiance was romantic, the food was generously portioned and tasty, and they had some nice gems on the wine list. Aside from the service, a nice experience.
Very cool inside... needed to wear our coats throughout dinner. Wait staff attentive but a little disconnected.
Had the tasting menu expected better because of that but seemed as though it was made in bulk keeping warm for service.
Had the bruschetta for appetizer and the pork Loin dinner for me and Pancetta/risotto dish...wow! We enjoyed it with a nice Italian Pinot Noir. Our table was in the corner, nice and cozy. Overall, it was a great night out with the spouse.
Great food and service, nice ambiance. Highly recommended.
