Both private & semi-private spaces are available for groups of any size. We have one small private dining room that holds 12 people comfortably. Our Corner View room can seat 22 people. We have semi-private larger areas that are defined by large columns and architectural features.
View Private Dining DetailsWe were able to hear each other speak which is rare in DC. The background music was relaxing. The food was good and the service was very good.
Great location, practically on top of the Archived/Navy Memorial Metro stop.
as always, lovely service, soft music and delicious food
A consistently great restaurant. The food and service always are top quality. We are pleased to find venison regularly on the menu. It is one of our favorite dishes. A good selection of wines for all cuisines.
Our waiter accommodated our needs very well and got us out in plenty of time for the theater. The food was very good and the drinks were good.
Excellent food and a quiet, low key space for conversation. 701 is the perfect place for foodies who want to enjoy a relaxed ambiance.
This was a great option between museums closing at 5 and hopping on a 7 pm bus tour. Service very high, food and cocktails delicious. Definitely on the high end side, as even my light-eating teens cleaned their plates
Good food well prepared and presented. Service very attentive and personable without being intrusive. Friday and Saturday live jazz is excellent and refreshing.
Ivan was an exceptional waiter. The meal was delicious. This is a gem close to the Washington Mall at the Archives Metro stop.
Wonderful food and outstanding service; especially nice that one can have fine dining and still be able to hear a conversation!
701 exceeded all my expectations, from the table service, to the food quality, to the reasonably priced cocktails. Definitely worthy of repeat visits.
This is a great restaurant. They are very attentive and they have some excellent dishes. They also have live piano music Thursday, Friday, Saturday evenings. Really classy place!
Service exactly as we like it--attentive, friendly, but not "Hi, My name is ... and I'll be...." All the food tasted delicious, was attractively plated, and had interesting touches.
The server did not check on us throughout the entire meal. In fact, he wouldn’t make eye contact. There were 2 managers on the floor and did not come check on us. When we finally would flag down one of the servers, they didn’t speak English... so asking for a Coke and then for ginger was a chore. Food was decent, but will not return due to poor service.
This was a great find. We'd recommend it to all. Beautiful restaurant, great food and service. And the piano bar added a perfect touch to the evening. A very nice price / value ratio. Not cheap but well worth it.
From start to finish, we were pleased with the knowledgeable service. Our waitress is a sommelier of a certain level who listened so she could advice us about wine pairings without condescension. While the menu is not extensive, there is variety. Preparation allowed ingredients to shine - from the green salad, tuna tartare, to papardelle and venison, to spiced chocolate tart and cheese plate. They offer a reasonably priced, 3-course pre-theatre meal. There’s live music from Thursday through the weekend!
We were more than pleased with our after theatre dinner at 701. Beautiful restaurant in a great location with valet parking. Service was exceptional, from entering to leave taking. Everyone was pleased with their choices for cocktails and dinner. Welcoming ambiance, animated but without the noise found in most DC restaurants. Loved it and will return.
701 is our go-to restaurant in downtown DC when we want a tranquil meal with a low noise level that fosters easy conversation. The food is meticulously prepared and served, and the dishes usually include creative touches that enhance diners' enjoyment. The pre-theater menu is a great deal, but the regular menu also offers good value. The wine list is solid, and the bar delivers well-made cocktails. Desserts are interesting, too, so save room for a final course.
Valet car parking is available in the evenings, and a small jazz combo (usually a duo) adds sophistication and zest to the evening while still allowing diners to converse. This professionally-managed establishment is reminiscent of some of the best-run, classic New York restaurants. We plan on returning often.
Excellent food, great to have menu with not any choices), food perfectly seasoned, gracious service, very helpful sommelier made perfect choices for our meal, quiet atmosphere a BIG plus.
Take note: Valet parking is on 7th at the corner. Courteous and helpful valet - went above and beyond.
701 is known to locals as one of the premier restaurants in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. The food and service are consistently first rate. The seating arrangement and acoustics are the best that can be found, allowing for easy conversation. The friendly greeting at the entrance sets the pace for a relaxed evening of excellent unhurried service. The valet parking is reasonably priced and extremely efficient.
Beet salad and chicken main were excellent. Staff quite helpful.
Great food, a little "twist " to authentic food makes them so unique. We love this place!
High quality food and good wine choice in a quest but businesslike atmosphere. But not so pompous we couldn’t take out 14yr old son. Highly attentive service.
Waiters rushed us. Also throughout the meal they kept pouring bottled water even as the meal ended without asking if we wanted more bottles.
Always a go to spot for us...good food and service.
701 is always extraordinary and returning regularly!
Great for a downtown DC experience. I would certainly recommend this location to others, but this is not place for regular dining due to the price. Great for occasions or to impress a date.
Wait staff was excellent. Food was lack luster, and over priced.
Service was pleasant nothing to denote excellence meal portions were small lobster tail very small three course for $85 each was not a value. We actually stopped on the way home to get something else.
Valentines day
The food, service and ambiance were spot on! Perfect location for a date.
Table and ambience was nice. Jazz in background good touch. Our server was prompt and clear, maybe a lil rushed but good overall. Food was delicious but a little pricey for a valentines day special. Dessert was delicious. You ice cream is the best I've tasted. Valet service was convient.
Overall experience was good. Great service just a lil pricey for small portion of food .
Always enjoy my meal; but Brian, the bartender is the real draw. He consistently provides excellent service!
The food was good, but not outstanding. Service was attentive, but not obsequious. Food came a bit too quickly, suggesting that it was prepared in advance. Primary complaint was the restaurant was not crowded, but they bunched everyone in the same area, creating a circle of noise, which made for a difficult conversation.
Went for a light lunch. Kale salad was large and flavorful. Filling. Also the beet tartare was tasty and inventive the best was the Brussels sprouts. A must try. Wonderful lunch for two light delicious and wanting us to return for a more hearty meal.
Our dining experience was very enjoyable. The food was delicious and we had very good service. Both the waiter and maitre de were very attentive and friendly. We are planning on returning soon.
Overall it was good. We ordered tuna burger which came with potato chips. Really?! It could've been something more sophisticated. They did have delicious bread and butter!
Bad food, don’t worthy the price. :(
It had been some time since I dined at 701. The staff were exceptionally attentive, courteous and very professional. But the facility showed a great deal of wear and tear. For example, the ladies room was badly in need of repairs - broken tissue holder and toilet seat, dim lighting. Throughout the facility there was worn carpet, chipping paint, etc. The cost for two pumpkin soups, two Caesar salads (just one with steak), sparkling water and coffee came to $73. The food was ok, a bit on the bland side. Again, I commend the staff for exceptional service and courtesy but I doubt I will return.
Great service and friendly staff! I enjoyed my family outing for my mother's birthday! I will definitely dine here again!
