Delicious and fresh! What an awesome place to go to brunch. The complimentary bread is especially delicious.
This very lovely neighborhood restaurant is wonderful. Fresh, well prepared, seasonally inspired choices in a welcoming atmosphere.
Stopped in for a quick bite and fell in love with the popover to start. Beautiful texture and delicious taste. You could come for that alone and just order anything else. The Chimichurri chicken salad was delightful as well... dressing was a bit on the salty side but the ingredients were fresh and overall it was a great light meal. Service was attentive and atmosphere was very cute.
Don’t miss out on their dinner rolls. To die for.
Lovely place with wonderful food. The small menu delivers very delicious food, beautifully presented at a very reasonable cost. Service is attentive. Great local find.
My birthday. Yummy, service great. We’ll go back.
This is a wonderful place for dinner with friends.
Great food and drinks. Waited quite a while to be sat despite our reservation and longer to be served but we had a big party so this is likely why. Overall would definitely go back.
We had the best experience - lovely servers, amazing food, delicious mimosas. The popovers were delicious and the eggs Benedict divine. We would totally go back!
Good food, though the polenta starter leaves a lot to be desired. The vegetarian options were really great. The cocktails were disappointing on the second occasion (great the first time I ate in this restaurant). The second time was like having a pure alcohol shot rather than any care being given to actually making a palatable and enjoyable drink.
Our neighborhood favorite for a casual dinner and weekend brunch. Pleasant atmosphere with excellent food and service. Always a good selection with reasonable pricing!
We loved this place so much the first time we went a month ago, that when we returned to the area for a play my husband insisted on going again....I was in total agreement.
Excellent neighborhood gem at an affordable price.
We had an amazing Easter brunch with all ten members of our family. I loved the intimate ambiance, and our server was very attentive and very, very nice. Everyone loved their entree and it was a general consensus that we cant wait to return. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!
Seven Plates is a neighborhood gem! Great food and affordable wine. Highest recommendation!
I went to 7 Plates before a pay we saw at Victory Gardens. We shared the polenta a mushroom appetizer which was really excellent. We also shared the calamari appetizer. Then I had the mushroom and spachetti (sp) which was also very good. All in all we enjoyed 7 plates and I would go back another time.
Had a party for 12 for an old friend’s birthday. Staff, food, service, noise level — even the delicious chocolate birthday cake they provided — were just perfect. My guests all raved about the lovely dinner and evening.
Lots of fun, good food!
What a jewel!
The grapefruit basil orange soda was outrageous, loved it.
Great for brunch and to take my DePaul student to.
We will be back.
Quaint Lincoln Ave restaurant with good food. Menu is a bit limited but service is excellent and you can'tt beat the location.
Very pleasant atmosphere with one side white tiles and the other side a retro "spackled" white wall for a bright appearance. A bar when you enter leads to the back. Several two top round high tables break up the space nicely. A long cushioned seating bench along the entire right wall allows two top rectangular tables to be pushed together or split apart in order to seat small or large groups. The seating options are very effective. Fresh flowers in a mason jar and hand-painted salt and pepper shakers on a small tray at the table were a nice touch.
None of us ordered coffee so we can't comment on its quality. They also offer brunch cocktails and mimosas.
Several of us had three sides combined as a main meal and the others had eggs Benedict and an omelette with the fluffy buttermilk pancakes.
Fresh flowers in a mason jar mug added to the quaint appearance and hand-painted salt and pepper shakers and a small tray at the table where a nice touch.
Chicken apple sausage which is currently the sausage offering was a little dry and a little salty but had a good flavor. Was looking forward to the chefs andouille sausage which was on the menu online but it had obviously changed on the menu but not online before we arrived.
The creamed spinach side was not overly creamy, had fresh spinach flavor and was a good portion for $4.50. The bacon side was three very large pieces for the same price.
The daily special omelette had Gruyere cheese chicken apple sausage. It was served with crispy, well seasoned small wedges of potatoes and a light spring mix salad. The eggs Benedict were very fresh with what appeared to be homemade hollandaise.
The buttermilk pancakes were out of this world according to the two who ate them. They served them with a little ramekin of syrup which was not quite enough.
The service was very pleasant and attentive with extra water and inquiring as to our meal but not overbearing. Early on a Saturday or Sunday morning it's easy to park outside. We would return.
We love 7 plates cafe! It is such a great spot to have in the neighborhood! The food is excellent, the service attentive and friendly and the prices reasonable. We’ve had almost everything on the menu, and it is equally delicious. The menu is concise and well executed. We’ve always found parking on Lincoln, too.
We visited 7 Plates Cafe for the first time early Saturday evening. The restaurant was almost empty, leading us to wonder if we had made a mistake. We had not - and more diners came throughout the evening. The food was very good. Two of us split the Brussels sprouts salad. It is somewhat misnamed as there were relatively few Brussels spouts in it but was nonetheless delicious and we we order it again. The salad was served with truly excellent popovers. Another diner had and enjoyed the French onion soup. For entrees two of us shared the Mediterranean salmon. It was excellent. (The kitchen split the salad and entree for us without being asked.) The person who ordered the special lasagna was very happy. The forth person had the shrimp saganaki appetizer as her entree. While she was happy with it, she was surprised that the shrimp did not seem to be the focus of the dish. There was (I believe) a tomato sauce on it. Prices for the food are quite reasonable. You could easily spend more on drinks, but that seems to be the way of the world. Service was outstanding. We will be back.
Great brunch spot! For my birthday brunch I decide to try a place myself and my friends hadn't been before. This was a fabulous choice - based on Yelp and Opentable table reviews. The polenta, French toast, and pancakes were all delicious. The drinks were spot on. Definitely returning and highly recommend!
I returned for lunch with a friend after having been here for dinner with family last summer. I very much appreciated again the experience. Service was good, food tasty and fresh! Delicious desert - a melting chocolate cake :-)
Wonderful neighborhood spot. Great food and service.
Awesome place! Just don’t want too many others to discover it because it will be booked for weeks! Haha
Great food, ambiance and excellent service, very friendly !
Service was slow, and just plain bad. The ambiance was quaint but nothing special. The food was quite good, but I doubt I'll be back, because of the service.
If you want to shout in order to be heard by the other people at your table over pretty good food, then this is the place for you. It is a small room, with no attempt to buffer sound. The menu is eclectic and changes seasonally -- both good things. The wine list is limited but acceptable. The noise is intolerable. We should have left early, as a number of diners did, but it was a special occasion.
Greatest food and service
Excellent! We were a party of twelve older types, chatting and dining and drinking before an evening show. Everyone loved their food, the service was absolutely flawless, especially given that the restaurant filled up while we were there and we needed to finish and settle our bills in time for the curtain.
This is a wonderful hidden gem in Lincoln Park. How lucky are we to have this so close to our home. Easy, “nicer” dining that is still family friendly - albeit with a 5pm reservation - to tactfully avoid weekend dinner dates later in the evening. Everything that we ordered came out perfectly prepared, especially the steak frites and salmon crepes. The chocolate cake was divine, according to our 5year old chocolate connoisseur!
This review is a bit delayed--I was here over the holidays. Went with a group of friends prior to ZooLights. Delicious food, cute space, perfect noise level so that I was able to have good conversation with and hear my dinner companions. I wasn't sure what to expect with a restaurant name like "Café", but it had great dinner options that exceeded your typical café fare. Would go again!
We came here for dinner and the food was pretty mediocre. I had a chicken dish that tasted overwhelmingly like dill; there were large clumps of dill all over the dish. Even if I liked dill I think this would have been way too much. My husband had a burger which was not bad. Their brunch may be much better, but I would not recommend for dinner.
Great setting with friendly service and some different food options. Not a huge menu but a lot of different choices between appetizers and mains. Had a very tasty handcrafted Manhattan.
We really enjoyed the brunch at 7 Plates Cafe. The portions were European sized (not oversized) and food was very good. The bread they served with our coffees, prior to the order, was to die for. We had a party of 12, so they called us a day prior to confirm our reservation and I mentioned that we might have a baby joining us. They had wonderfully readied the table for 12 of us, including a baby seat at one end. I really appreciate their service for this. I highly recommend this restaurant. Great service & excellent staff!
A wonderful addition to the neighborhood - just down the block from The Greenhouse Theater, parking was right out front, and everything about the place is very pleasant. I recommend it highly.
We had our Thanksgiving Dinner here and it was stupendous. We were seated early which was great. We had their "pimp your prosecco" it was great shared amongst 3 people. The food was served quickly and we left those plates empty!
