7 Mile Kitchen
A nice venue with crisp clean decor with both indoor & outdoor seating. Great family restaurant.
They were somewhat busy. It is in a resort which should have been my clue to stay away but I thought we would give it a try. We waited almost 10 minutes for our server. Server didn’t ask if we wanted anything besides water which seems like server questions 101. She didn’t ask if we needed anything but asked kind of strangely “everything is good, right?” She rarely smiled. In the end the power plant wood-fired pizza (which featured artichokes and broccoli) was delicious. The smoked chicken fries were also good but the chicken was dry. We liked the decor but it was so loud. We may just leave this place for the visitors and stick to other local places.
Food was just ok - service was good. Food was very pricey.
Overpriced and under seasoned.
So, I really want to like this restaurant. It is close to home. It is a nice location and a lot of potential.
Unfortunately, after several attempts, I have resigned myself to one simple fact - 7 Mile Kitchen is not a nice place.
The restaurant is divided into two parts - inside and outside. The inside might be an option when the weather is too cool for outside. I say "might", because nothing has been done to make the inside a pleasant environment. The host stand is oddly situated in the middle of the interior room so there is constant traffic wandering around. The kitchen and service stands take up a large part of the interior and diners are regularly treated to the singing kitchen doors. To top it all off, the acoustics in the dining room are so bad it is often impossible to hear across the table.
The outside is much more relaxing, particularly on a sunny day. The problem outside is more about the food and the service. Everything is just average. The pizzas are always a little soggy, the fish and chips is always just a little under done, the glasses are almost clean. You get the idea.
The servers are all friendly, but are always either distracted or over committed to tables on different sides of the restaurant.
If you are staying at the hotel, stop in for waffle fries and a beer. Otherwise, there are so many better options in Carlsbad.
We go to 7 Mile frequently. The food is always good and the view is great! Good service and cool drinks!
Bad food bad service I don’t recommend
Service and ambiance great. Food pretty good, nice “standard” cuisine.
We have been here a few times and had a good experience. Went last week and the quality was just mediocre. I think it's fine for a hotel stay but not sure I would go back as a regular San Diego choice.
Food was good but service was pretty terrible. Server forgot to put our appetizers in. Got the kids order wrong. Asked for salad no onions, came with onions. One of the dishes came 20 mins after all the others. And our server wasn't very friendly.
It’s a fun location. Food is ok. Service is great.
We really enjoyed our server who took time to find out what we liked then steer us in the right direction.
The salmon special was fantastic and the gelato is incredible!!
7 Mile is our favorite local place for date night!
Food was decent, service was ok. The seating was pretty poor as you had the feeling you were sitting in a part of the kitchen. Worst thing was that when we came back from tasting the gelato we wanted for our desert our table was almost cleared like we had already left.
We ate here several times for dinner while staying at the Sheraton. The food was very good, they had a good kids menu, and the gluten-free pizza was the best I’ve ever had. The wine selection was also good and the service was friendly and attentive.
The food was delicious. Location was perfect. Only issue was, we booked a table starting that it was a celebration dinner for my daughters birthday. Nothing was even mentioned by the host or server. Pretty disappointing. There we’re approximately 11 people at the location from the beginning and end of our stay
7 Mile Kitchen was chosen based on Opentable suggesting the restaurant as we were in an area we were unfamiliar with. It was not apparent from Opentable that 7 Mile Kitchen was the 'quick and cheap' option within the Sheraton Hotel. If this was known at the time of booking we would have not booked. Lack of time was the only reason we stayed. Very disappointing.
We keep coming back because the good is delicious and the service is excellent. We enjoyed the new offerings on the menu!
Jacob L was our server and he was friendly, helpful, and funny, too!
I'm always skeptical of restaurants attached to hotels. I gave 7 mile a fair shot. Too cold as they left doors and windows open with temps in the 40s. Food was ok. Some entrees were left off original order.
Good Food and service
The chicken was undercooked. We simply asked for it to be cooked a little longer, not a brand new meal. I got a glare, the food came back, and the chickens was once again undercooked.
Food was excellent but we sat outside & froze our buns off! Service very slow also but it was Christmas Eve so staff was limited.
on Christmas Day, it was great to find the restaurant open. Excellent variety great for our family meal. very good beer.
We liked the place, but it is not good for the winter. Most of the restaurant is outside, there are no doors and it is cold inside. It will be great in the summer
Neopoltean pizzas were mediocre for the price. Ambiance is fine and the waiter was excellent. Extremely disappointed with the food won’t go back.
It took 14 minutes from the time we were seated to have a server come to our table. We requested service 3 times from our bus people. We continually struggled to get service at our table. Food was excellent.
We were celebrating my husband’s birthday. We wanted a nice casual place and 7 Mile delivered on the food and atmosphere. But, the service was very slow. The men enjoyed the burgers and the cocktails were excellent, very well made. We will try again and hope to get our food in under an hour.
Four of us went for dinner. The food was o.k., nothing outstanding or special, but the prices were good. Most restaurants these days are so noisy that you can't have a quiet conversation. Not true here. We enjoying the relative quiet even though the restaurant was about half or more full.
We found out after we got there that you can only use your Passport card for their limited amount of entrees. This does not include their hamburgers or pizzas. After we each ordered a horrible entree, we heard our waitress telling the table behind us that the best deal is to order appetizers (which included pizzas) as they were 50% off. It would have been cheaper for us to get pizzas then to use the Passport card on entrees that we didn't want in the first place. It would have been nice for our waitress to share this information with us prior to ordering. Once she saw the Passport card, things went down hill. She could have said that the Passport card is only good on certain entrees, however, you can get a really good deal on other items during happy hour. How hard would that have been? Then the bill came and an automatic tip of 18% was added on to it. We use the Passport card at least once a week, and this was the first time since we got our card 7 years ago that a tip was added in automatically. We read some of the reviews on Open Table prior to going, and everyone was raving about the hamburgers and pizzas. Too bad no one mentioned that you can't use the Passport card on them. It was a bad experience and we will never go back again.
We had a very pleasant open air lunch of burgers and salad. Plenty of choices and an attentive waiter.
Food was delicious. Outdoor seating was very nice. A bit pricy for lunch, but food was great, so makes up for it!
It was truly delicious. Everything that was served had flavor. The waiter was very polite and the setting was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone that will be passing thru Carlsbad.
Food was excellent although expensive for what you got. Service was responsive and great.
The food was amazing...you have the best gluten free pizza crust...it was a special treat! Enjoyed twice during our stay. Service was great.
Wonderful dining experience throughout the meal along with excellent services!! Yes will be back for sure!
Only reason to consider this place is if you have to stay at the Sheraton hotel to which it is attached.
Food was less than mediocre
Service was slow and brusque
Prices were ridiculous in light of the poor food quality.
To start with the ambiance was outstanding! The staff were all so friendly, helpful and full of energy! The grilled artichoke was a bit tough and not much flavor. The Lasagna ( meat sauce) was very tasty but was an extremely small portion for the price( even our server commented it was an unusually small piece). The steak with sautéed mushrooms and onions , fries and salad was the showstopper!!! Simply amazing!!! Macaroni and cheese was perfect too! The sausage pizza was excellent!!! Can’t wait to go back and try a few more things!
This was our second time to 7-Mile and both experiences have been good. Our dinner this time was very good and our server was excellent (not easy to find great servers these days). We sat outside and they had live music - fun time.
This was our 2nd time @ this location. First time was for happy hour a few weeks ago. We ordered pizza and drinks. Pizza was good and the happy hour prices were fantastic. Not to mention it was a great spot for kids to dine at.
This past weekend we decided to go there for a special occasion with a couple of guests and the service was horrible!! Our drink order was wrong & when we addressed it we received a horrible attitude from the bartender. In addition, one food order was wrong. Our pizza was cold and the wings were horrible and needed to be sent back.
Lastly, it wasn’t crowded and the waiter barely came to our table. At one point I started stacking up the finished plates and glasses so that we could make room on the table.
The hostesses were wonderful. They accommodated 2 couples with 3 kids - not an easy task!!
