6Smith Ratings and Reviews
Very accommodating for a larger group. However, 3 steaks had to be sent back for either being too cooked, or not cooked enough. Same thing with a burger that was burnt. Would be a cool place for summer patio and appetizers, but not for a main meal. Way too expensive for the food we were served.
We had a reservation and called ahead to let you them know we were running 5 minutes behind. We were told this wouldn’t be a problem and we should be able to get seated just fine when we arrived. When we showed up, we were told that we would have to wait almost 40 minutes to get a table in the dining area. As a result, we took a hightop in the bar. It was very loud and noisy and because we were next to the bar, we had a group of people with their backs up against our table for most of the meal. It would have been nice if our reservation would have guaranteed us seating in the dining room.
Most everything we ordered was wonderful. One of the fillets came out well done when medium was requested, but they promptly made a new one and it was cooked perfectly. We enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back if looking to go out for an expensive, tasty meal.
Our server was beyond amazing. She was so helpful and was even willing to buy us dessert as it was a special night out for us. However, the food was just not that great. It was super expensive and it was only a C+ in my opinion. While the service was top knotch, the food didn’t live up to the expectation.
OK - here is the deal. I made a reservation for 4 on Open Table over a week in advance. We had an earlier reservation and the place had many, many open spots...yet they somehow decided to put us in the nosebleed section - right by the kitchen in a little room with no music - no ambiance - and a group of about 12 sitting beside us.
I asked the server - couldn't we get a booth? She stumbled around and tried to tell me why we could not. I couldn't bear it so I asked my husband to ask if we could sit at a hightop right by the bar. They agreed - and then we had a perfect night with a perfect server. I don't think we should have had to ask twice.
Thank you for making my friend’s birthday lunch special! When I selected “Birthday” as the reason for our lunch, I didn’t know there would be confetti on the table and a gift certificate for her to use next time she’s there. What a treat!
The food was excellent. I had the Autumn Vegetable salad and loved every bite! The service was great as well!
Thank you! We’ll be back.
So good. Had Lobster Guacamole for an app. He had the rib-eye, the NY strip. Both perfectly cooked, to medium rare. Had the Brussel sprouts and fries. The truffle aioli is. Ah-mazing. First time there and the waitress (who was amazing) let us pick a free desert or a side order was on the house. We chose the brownie, very very good, very chocolatey, I had to quit when we ran out of ice cream. Will be going back.
I took my grandson for dinner here before he heads off to college in AZ. We had a wonderful time visiting and enjoying our meal together. Our waiter was superb and the food was delicious! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wanted to enjoy a special night out!
We like the main food a lot but appetizer and dessert were really bad. Also this place is very expensive . Also that night we got the check just a minute after we got our desert and the server did not act that fast while we wanted to order our food also he charged our card as fast as we out our card. Usually normal restaurants let guests enjoy their food and then customer ask for check not forcing them to leave.
Our server Emma was simply awesome. This has become one of our favorite haunts in the Minneapolis St. Paul area. Great happy hours, great food, great service - 6Smith consistently delivers time and again. A must-go for those of you who appreciate great quality.
We enjoy coming to 6Smith for their fat pants Friday's. We went this time for restaurant week and to celebrate my spouse's birthday. We were so surprised to see that they had decorated the table and had a birthday card for him!! The food was excellent but it appeared they were running short of the deserts since ours was so very tiny.
The wait for service and our food was pretty bad I had been bragging about this place to my guests and everyone was getting pretty crabby with the wait for service and then the wait to get our food. The food was excellent so at least this made my guests happy and soften their disappointment over the wait.
We visited for the first time on Tuesday night! I loved the atmosphere and service - which was phenominal! Our waitress happily made recommendations off the Menu and was very prompt. For the first course we got the ceaser salad and bacon & bourbon which was amazing! I was a bit disappointed when it came to the main course food though. I got the filet mignon and found out it didn't come with any sides. For that price, I figured it would come with something! I ended up getting a side of the fries. My husband got the Tamarind braised short ribs which were delicious, but we asked before him ordering of the pickled mango salad came on the side. The waitress said it did, so we were good with that (not knowing if we would like that) but then got it, and it was on top of the short ribs. My filet mignon was asked to be medium-well, but when I received both top and bottom were pretty charred and little red in the center. I got a few really delicious bites but didn't like the char flavor I got in some bites. When it came to dessert, I got the chocolate pie and husband got the butterscotch & chocolate ganache budino. Both were very delicious! Again, smaller than I expected though so glad we each got one. Overall, I don't know if I would return here over a few of our other steak and seafood places.
We always like to try new restaurants when Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine’s Restaurant Week comes around, and we’d been here for their Happy Hour before, but this was one of our favorite finds to date! The whole experience was phenomenal, from the special confetti and birthday card (that even included a $15 gift certificate) they had on the table when we arrived, to the knowledgeable and friendly waitress (Krista) who never made us feel bad for using the Restaurant Week menu, to the entire staff who kept our water glasses filled & our empty plates removed quickly. Each part of our evening was made extra special & we had I’ll absolutely be back!
The restaurant staff seemed out of sorts.
The food, though, overall, was good.
It was restaurant week, which might explain the chaos. We received our courses out of order. Dessert came before the entree. A side we ordered was flat out wrong and another was prepared differently than how the server described so it had to be sent back.
I would give the place another go on a quieter night.
