68 Degrees Kitchen is a neighborhood restaurant for Austin locals. It's a perfect place to eat for those coming from Deep Eddy Pool or the Hike and Bike Trail, or locals living in Tarrytown, Pemberton, Rollingwood, Westlake, Clarksville, and Bryker Woods. Our restaurant is operated by hometown sisters Joan and Marion Gillcrist, whose restaurants Andiamo! in Santa Fe and La Traviata in Austin have deep roots in made in-house fare and local ingredients, we love our food and are excited to bring our Italian-Mediterranean cuisine to the neighborhood. We feature an extensive beer and wine menu for guests of varied budgets.

We were there on a busy Sunday night. The team worked their tails off taking care of everyone. We appreciate that we can have a conversation without shouting across the table.

Food great. Service great. Waiter knowledgeable on all foods and wine selections. The salad and soup was great and will order again. I will return to your restaurant when I am in town.

Limited menu choices but so well done. We would like to see the 3 cheese pasta modified to be a bit more healthy (aka veggies, meat/fish puree). This a true neighborhood gem with warm, friendly servers.

Planned a last minute night out to nearby 68 Degrees. Food was good as always (had the shrimp linguine and a caesar salad). Service was a little slow (really bad weather was slowing down the traffic and parking, but not sure why that had an effect unless some staff were late). All in all, this is a great restaurant for a good meal.

Food is always great. Service sometimes lags behind the quality of the food, in that even when it doesn't look that busy, servers disappear for long periods with no explanation.

Standard Italian fare with nothing outstanding. Squid was tasteless and the sauce was weird and not very good. My pasta and clams was underdone although they did agree to take out the pepper flakes at my request. The pork in marsala was tasty, but the green beans were overcooked and limp. The wine list was very small. The noise level was moderate, but we were in a corner booth so were not overly disturbed. The main dining area was very noisy and somewhat hot since it gives onto the kitchen. Decent neighborhood place but nothing out of the ordinary. Prices high given quality of food.

As a part time New Yorker, I've been on the lookout for a better than meh Italian restaurant in Austin, which in my estimation would offer off the beaten track but not necessarily unheard of dishes like calves liver, matriciana, cacio y pepe, osso buco, bronzino, sweetbreads, fagioli, bottarga, etc. prepared by an expert hand - as opposed to the familiar northern Italian fare which Austin's so-called Italian restaurants seem to never tire of endlessly offering to their seemingly unadventurous clientele. 68 Degrees doesn't get there in the off the beaten track department, but the usual stuff is well-prepared and tasty and reasonably priced albeit with over dependence on cream in meat based pasta sauces. One stand out was the buttermilk panna cotta, which was divine. And a well selected wine list. So come on guys - step it up a little and I'll be a regular. Austin needs a Bar Pitti or an I Sodi. You could be it!

We really appreciate the feedback! You are right that adventuresome food can be hard to sell. The chef, also of La Traviata, was excited to hear from you. Here is her reply: 'Please respond to this person that I look forward to the challenge...and that I love to cook that way, and I wish there were more of him in Austin. I will start introducing some new things. And thank you!' Stay tuned. We may have a day of the week for adventure.

I will begin by saying that our meal was delicious.

The Service, however, was TERRIBLE! After receiving our meals, and ordering a drink, our waiter had been MIA for 30min. We mentioned this to the hostess, and said we had been waiting on drinks for 30min. She said “can you describe your waiter?” I assume she didn’t follow up with him because we didn’t see him again for another 20min.

We made our second visit to 68 Degrees and had a nice dinner. The service was a bit slow, probably because the restaurant was at capacity. Staff was helpful in getting our bottle of wine poured while we waited a few minutes for our table, and everyone was friendly and professional. We had the mac & cheese balls as an appetizer, the beet/burrata salad and salmon, trout and pork entrees. The food was all delicious. We'll go back, most likely on a weeknight or with an earlier reservation for a quieter ambiance. Overall, thumbs up.

Party of 4. Midway into the main dining room. First time for the other couple. Had a great time, food was superb, but the service team seemed a little taxed at times. Nothing major, just was a different service experience on our last visit as we were there in a bit slower environment.

we were there on the terrible rainy night last Friday. Our server was very sweet however he did forget to bring one couple their Caesar Salad after we had all been served ours. When I finally told him he was very concerned and though the couple told him they did not want it he brought one anyway compliments of the house but they refused since the main course was a short time away.
I do not understand why we have to pay for bread when most restaurants offer it free of charge. Also you might consider putting a mirror across the back wall as it is not as cheerful looking at a blank wall if you are sitting banquet style.
We brought our supper club there after having lunch and enjoying the food. I had to ask for a slice of bread to go along with my spaghetti during that visit. That should always accompany your food. Also no pasta spoon offered to twirl our own pasta. I know you are 'somewhat' new and you seem very successful...just need special 'little' services to improve . Sincerely, Sandra Roche

We got the macaroni balls to start off with and they were just as expected.
The fresh ravioli came out cold and wasn’t as described. The fresh bread was good and worth the money but the $2.50 up charge for 5 olives seemed ridiculous to me.

I liked the ambience and the service was overall good.
