Absolutely could never recommend. My $42 “ribeye” (something that didn’t resemble a ribeye at all) came well done when I had ordered medium rare. I sent it back while my wife ate her lamb burger. When my new steak came it was blue rare and had been loaded with salt. I called the manager over and nicely complained again. He wanted to have them prepare yet another steak to which I said no. They couldn’t do medium rare after two tries. I told him I would not be paying for a steak that I could not eat because of all the salt encrusted on it. I asked if it was supposed to be salt-encrusted, offered for him to taste it (which he declined); and continued to tell him how disappointed i was in this very expensive steak. The cook should have been fired. The manager must have been on the job for the first day due to his response, and our waiter wasn’t much better. He acted completely oblivious to there being any problem. So the bill came with the $14 lamb burger ( the cheapest thing on the menu) and half the cost of the wine. I left a 10% tip. TERRIBLE. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!!!!
Service was a bit slow. We waited quite a while after being seated just to get our drinks ordered. And then a while after that to order food. Other than that everything was nice. Food was very tasty!
Every thing was fine except my omelette could have been warmer. It was served just above room temperature. Cheesed was no longer melted
Our w daughters and grandson came to visit for the weekend. It was the oldest daughter’s birthday. We decided something in uptown would be fun. Had a great time, great food as always. The staff was excellent!
Reserved space for a cocktail reception, and we had a lovely alcove with room to sit/stand/visit. Service was attentive and helpful for drinks and snacks. Love that hummus! Flatbread was delicious, also shared meatballs & brussel sprouts (not crowd favorites), meat & cheese platter, beet salad.
Great food and great coffee
Very unhappy that I celebrated my birthday with friends there as a first timer. My reservation was at 8:30 pm on April 7, 2018. I called ahead because our Escape rm ran over. I was told that the table was still occupied but by the time I came they would be up. When I arrived, my guests were at the bar. We didn’t get to sit down at ANY table until about 9:45 pm. We asked to be moved to a different table because it was too cold at the one we sat down at. The hostess was the one to take our order because our waiter didn’t come to us yet. Once we reached our final table, and received our food, my food was completely cold. I spoke to the waiter and the owner/manager brought me back a new order but all my friends were done eating so I got my food to go. When you go to upscale restaurants you’re paying for the experience plus the food. My experience was great but I do appreciate the hostess and the owner doing what they could to turn it around. I’m disappointed because my night was thrown off because my reservation went sour.
Brussel sprouts were well done with a sweet flavor at the end. Both fillets that were ordered came out medium well or well instead of medium rare. Recommend the mushroom flatbread.
We went for Easter brunch. At $33/person for a buffet that included shrimp and crab legs, it was a fairly decent deal. There was a very wide selection. The food was okay, but not great. I found both the NY strip and lamb served to be lacking in flavor. The "fried chicken" that was served was actually just breaded chicken strips. And not even homemade ones - they were of the mass produced freezer variety. The shrimp and grits were good. Our server was very nice. For such a hectic day, she was pretty attentive and even brought my mom a complimentary crab cake b/c she really wanted to try it but also really wanted the buffet. Maybe it's not fair to judge the food here based on an Easter buffet, but I have had better quality buffet experiences at that price point and was a little disappointed that the food wasn't somewhat better prepared. I probably would not come back based on this experience.
Easter brunch 2:30pm seating. Very loud, chaotic setting. Buffet poorly accessible. Food set up so high on bar that shorter patron could barely reach, or see it. Buffet poorly replenished. Food itself was overdone and mediocre at best. All in all, did not live up to hype. Would not recommend.
Service was lacking during this Easter brunch. It diminished our experience and overall thoughts about 5Church. Our server did not welcome us. Seemed annoyed to be there and never visited our table after taking our order. We had to ask about coffee, water, remind her about drinks and our food. By the end of our meal, plates were piled up.
This was our first visit and I found the restaurant to be run down and not cared for. It's time for some TLC .
Won't be back
Food was absolutely fantastic. It was packed due to being Easter. When we got up to get another plate our table was cleared even though we had left items there.
Wonderful Easter buffet!!!
We loved our Easter brunch here! The buffet was a great value, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was great!
Every time I visit this restaurant I have an amazing time. Your waitstaff is gracious and your entrees are “Pure Deliciousness”....much love and peace.
The dinner was very good however my desert
Lacked a little. It just didn’t seemed
This was my second time at this restaurant. I really liked it the first time. This time was not the best experience. Our reservation was at 5pm and it seemed as if the crew was still setting up. There was even a young lady bartender standing on the bar with her shoes getting down bottles of wine. I didn't feel that I should have seen that. We knew that the prices were above average but the food was not as spectacular as before. It just seemed rushed. Our server was great. So it was an ok experience that should have been great for the prices this restaurant charges.
Took over 40 minutes for me to get my meal, Ceviche, after the rest of the table had finished theirs. Thankfully the server was fabulous.
Too pricey for the quality, and amount, of food. Had a glass of wine for $18 that can be bought by the bottle for $24.99 at a store. That's quite a mark -up. It was fun, but I won't be back.
Very good food. A nice experience in Charlotte!
Birthday w/ close friends. Enjoyed the service, food and environment!
Excellent meal and service. A very interesting menu and presentation.
Neal our server was excellent. Food was very well done, tasty and presented well. Overall a great experience.
I've been for dinner before so I decided to go for a birthday brunch - $3 mimosas can't be beat! The brunch menu was solid, the restaurant was as dark as it is during dinner hours which I believe was odd but otherwise nothing negative to say.
Great food! Great cocktails! Great service! Great atmosphere! Made a reservation for a pre-show dinner, and we were able to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. Everything was delicious!
We had tickets to a matinee play at Blumenthal and decided to try for reservations that evening, knowing it was St Patrick’s Day and Charlotte uptown would be busy. We were able to get a table for 6:30.
To be brutally honest the only good thing that occurred was sitting next to other friendly diners.
We checked in to the hostess stand at 6:25. There were still a few people at the bar from the 20,000 strong ha crawl that day. The manager said our table would be ready in about 10 min and directed to an open spot at the other end of the bar. We lasted 5 seconds because it was quite evident from the atrocious smell that someone had thrown up at the bar. It was nauseating. We went and sat at the couch to wait. 20 min later after 2 other groups had been seated ahead of us, I checked in again, and without any hesitation or apology we were taken to an open table. The guests next to us said the able had been clear for 30 minutes. The hostess had clearly forgotten about us.
After ordering drinks and appetizer, the server took our entree order. My wife was looking forward to the bouillabaisse. But we were told there was a substitution that was a prawn on top of a black bean cake. The server knew this yet didn’t offer the information ahead of time. Instead of wanting to take more time my wife quickly decided to choose the substitute.
15-20 minutes later our entrees came out. I had ordered heart of ribeye with crushed Yukon gold potatoes. The steak looked a little strange for a ribeye and the sides were Brussels sprouts and a dollop of mashed potatoes. I asked the server if those were supposed to be the crushed potatoes and she quickly realized I had been brought the wrong entree. My wife ate her meal so it wouldn’t get cold. 10-15 min later I had my correct entree. It was actually cooked perfect and tasty along with the red wine reduction. My wife’s prawn was just adequate.
I doubt we will return soon. Too many other great choices to consider in Charlotte.
A little too loud last night, due to St. Patrick’s Day revelers in the bar; but the staff did a good job!
Have been to 5Church several times. This time we had a reservation for St. Patrick's Day. There was a bar crawl and 5Church was one of the participates. This was the loudest noise I have ever heard in a restaurant. Everyone (waiter, host, etc. was apologetic, for what that was worth. Not a good idea if you want a peaceful dinner. My wife and I could not even hear each other across the table. Other diners was having the same pain. Other than that, the food was good and service was good. A message to management, if you are going to invite such a disruption to your restaurant environment, do your regulars a favor. Don't accept reservations until a solid hour after the event is over to give time to get the party goers out.
A group of friends and I drove down to Charlotte from Michigan for a weekend get away and wanted to find a nice place to have brunch. We found 5Church and booked a reservation online and we definitely weren't disappointed. The location was easy to find, the atmosphere inside was amazing, and the staff was accommodating and friendly. I called a week before our reservation to set up a surprise dessert for our friends who recently got engaged and they were more than happy to help. The dessert, along with all of our other food, was amazing and we enjoyed indulging in a carafe of mimosa. There were tons of places we could have gotten brunch in Charlotte, but I'm very glad we decided on 5Church. I would definitely grab brunch here again if I were ever in Charlotte.
Service was really good. Server knew all details of the menu. the layout doent offer an alternative (open architecture, but the tables were a bit crammed and the high-top seats a bit uncomfortable. Of course, we were eating in the bar area and the other dining tables looked great. Booked on OpenTable - easy as pie. And valet parking was available.
5Church never disappoints. Great food & great service makes for a memorable dining experience. The staff asked if we were going to the theater (we were) and they gave us the appropriate attention to get us to Blumenthal in plenty of time. W will be back.
Flood was great! For being relatively not busy during lunch it seemed to take a while for the main order to come out on a business lunch.
We had a 7:30 open table reservation for 11. 6 of the 11 showed up at 7:10 and the balance at 7:25. They gave our table away and had to wait another hour to be seated. The staff wasn’t able to describe what was in the food we were eating. Everyone’s steaks were prepared incorrectly or just were just simply given the wrong cut. The staff tried very hard to apologize for their mistake by buying drinks and appetizers but I will have a hard time recommending 5Church to anyone.
Lousy mixed drink.
This was my first time at the restaurant. I loved the ambience, food, bar, cocktail specialties. I had the best hot toddy I've ever had.
Excellent Service and loved the daily menu too! Great ambience and vibe!!!
Fantastic -service and 2 out of 4 dishes
2 entrees were only ok. The trout seemed like they put so much emphasis on it looking good that they forgot to serve it hot. Gnocchi were very bland -all I could taste was flour.
Empty restaurant and they put us in the worst back corner table possible right by the kitchen door.
Was am amazing experience! Service was fantastic, Chef made personal appearance, as did the Maitre'D. Server was very knowledgeable about the menu, read the table and was very unobtrusive of our conversation, made excellent recommendations, and was there when we needed him.
The food was really spectacular, and there seems to be something on the menu for all tastes.
I will definitely return often and recommend to others!
We made a reservation here at 7 pm on a Sunday evening since we were at at meeting nearby. We were seated and given menus. The restaurant was not busy but we waited an excessively long time for some to take our order. When someone did come for the order, we were told that several things on the menu we no longer available, so we needed to reconsider what we wanted. Why weren't we told this when we were seated? Why isn't the menu updated appropriately? Again it was a long wait for our salad and still no bread or cracker to nibble. When the entree came it was nicely presented and tasty, but was cold. The prices charged here well exceed the value, considering the service and the small servings. Two small entrees and one salad with no beverage cost $98. No, I would not recommend this restaurant.
