5Church Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
The service was great this Sunday, we had a table for 10 and the server Brittany was amazing and patient and kind. They kept our cake in the refrigerator, and kept our balloons out the way. The cocktail Orgeat was very tasty. I will be returning for the modern trendy atmosphere and brunch, and now that I've had dinner, ill be returning for that as well. Thank you for making our birthday celebration special.
Considering they do brunch every weekend, we were surprised that they ran out of coffee cups and it took 20 minutes to get our coffee. One of our meals came out cold. Was also disappointed that despite making a reservation, we were seated in the bar close to the cold air of the door. I have had a good experience here at happy hour previously, but not sure I would recommend it for brunch.
We made a reservation for 9:15, but we weren't seated until after 10:15. Our waiter was very professional, and he did remove a round of drinks from our bill as an apology for the delay, but the experience was still very frustrating. We had planned a night around the reservation, and the delay kind of wrecked our plans. More communication would have been nice.
overall, I liked the restaurant's decor and feel. Certain parts of the menu didn't appeal to me (other than the 4 steak options), I felt the menu was light and limited in value. With that being said, it's hard to find lamb (especially lamb that falls off the bone). Hummus was a better appetizer than the octopus or other options. It lost a star when I discovered a bug in my drink. Taste of drinks was decent although not my style for value.
Service was outstanding. It has potential but the menu just wasn't a hit that evening.
Moderate plus pricing but ver good food. Saturday before Halloween so place was crowded and very lively.
Service was good, without feeling of being rushed.
Eclectic wine list with prices for bottles from forty to a thousand dollars.
Nice location to walk around uptown from.
Food was good, but I've had better versions of everything we got at other places.
Starters we got beet & goat cheese salad and the meatballs. Both were good, the meatballs were a bit more tough than expected.
Entree, I got the chicken with crispy skin which was cooked really well. The flavors were all great, but it lacked that quality chicken taste that I've only gotten at a handful of restaurants. Overall though was very happy.
Sides were a bit disappointing. Having just been to the 5church in Charleston, I assumed the fries would be the same, but sadly they were of a lesser quality. The ones in Charleston were basically fry shaped crack. The brussels were only lightly sauteed, as listed on the menu, but I think it would have been better to roast them and get a bit of char on them. They also didn't provide spoons for the brussels, making it a bit hard to collect them from the share plate.
Ambiance was nice and hip and overall I enjoyed my experience. I'm only so negative on the food, because I want them to do better.
great service - I was dining alone pre-theatre matinee. Nice brunch menu but found my entree to be bland- crab cakes with a poached egg and a jalapeño sauce - and if I did not know - there was NO jalapeño flavor at all. Inexpensive mimosas - juice colored but mostly bubbly. It seems the ideas were there but no real flavor punch to anything
Chose the restaurant from a Zagat list of best restaurants in Uptown. Overall the service was the best part of the experience. What that chef did to my $43 fillet was beyond unacceptable. It's a steak for goodness sake!! If you can't cook a simple butterfly steak you are in the wrong business!!! It was unrecognizable when it arrived in addition to being dry, and salty. It came with this side of horrible bowl "sauce" not sure what it was for and these horrible potatoes that had a weird twang to them. This was one of the worst meals I have had in a long, long time.
Came to 5 church on a date with my husband. Ambiance was really great, very cool vibe. That was definitely our favorite part. Our server was nice and attentive. Wasn't really crazy about the food. We split the tuna and it was just so so. I believe the menu said it came with potatoes but there were definitely no potatoes on the plate. I wish we would have known that and maybe have been offered something to replace the potatoes. I ordered the daily dessert (that night it was pumpkin cake.) that was truly really bland. Kind of tasted like nothing. I had to get extra caramel sauce in order to make myself feel like I was eating dessert! We would come back and try other things and/or brunch because we loved the vibe so much.
Had dinner at 5 Church this most recent Friday evening. Food and drinks were terrific, and bar area was lively without being overly crowded or congested. For my GF and I who were visiting from out of town, it was a great spot for some shared appetizers and disparate dining palates. The veal shank was excellent. Would definitely visit again
All the steaks were cooked wrong but we were in a hurry. It was our fault for not looki g at the menu before we came but it was so small and not a very good variety. No one likes the mussels as we weren’t told they had vinegar on them and we ordered several plates. So we spent several hundred dollars for 6 people who didn’t really like anything they ate. Lesson learned
I had an amazing time at brunch with a party of 10. The sever was great and I was hungover and he knew exactly what I needed to start my morning off better. He was very helpful. Everything was worth it. He told us about the wall and how the painter took 3mnth it was interesting!!!!!!!!
Food was bland. I thought maybe it was just mine that the seasoning was missed, but all of my friends had to ask to have the salt and pepper passed as well. Service was friendly but nothing outstanding especially compared to the exceptional service that we have received at similar restaurants in Charlotte. I was looking forward to the experience because my friend had dinner and hyped it up. Overall I wasn't that impressed, but maybe the dinner is better than their brunch.
The food was good but nothing I had really wowed me and made me go 'mmmmm'. Nothing on the menu was especially creative or unusual. I found my options to be a bit sweet for savory courses. Seems very trendy and a place to be seen rather than a destination for it's menu. Again, good restaurant but I was hoping for a more unique food tasting experience.
I had the Croque Madame which was excellent! Unfortunately, the accompanying French fries were overlooked and tough. One of our group had the Irish breakfast and her eggs came scrambled when she ordered over easy, which was corrected satisfactorily. Our other diner had the Bisquit dish which she said was rich and delicious. I had a mojito which was fresh and decilicious. We felt that the price for Sunday brunch was very reasonable. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable.
We have been to 5 Church several times and it is always good. The food was delicious and the service great. We sat at the bar before dinner and our cocktails were good as well. If you're going to the Blumenthal for an event it is the perfect location for dinner and they have valet parking which is great. All in all a great evening.
