It was a really neat place that came highly recommended. The reason I gave the food for stars was because the lobster was a little too chewy, still completely edible and still Delicious. Our server was Jerome and he was fantastic. In my opinion you will not be disappointed, great atmosphere as well.
It is hard to imagine a more over-priced, pretentious menu. The burger looked ok and the drinks were good. The rest of the menu was unredeamable.
Great place for brunch! We enjoyed shrimp and grits and the lobster sandwich. Portions are not oversized. Mimosa was awesome.
Amazing place. Excellent brunch. Excellent service!!!
Great experience overall! The food was delicious - I highly recommend the smoked salmon for brunch. The service was fast and courteous. Great location with fun decor.
Went for brunch and got the mimosa flight. It was pretty bad, completely flat. They must make a big batch of sparkling wine and the juices that they pour from rather than pouring from a bottle that's relatively freshly opened. Nearly everyone had some form of mimosa, so I cannot imagine it would be a problem if they mixed from the bottle (I.e. A bottle was probably not sitting open for too long). Yeah, it's a little more work, but at a higher end restaurant, you expect that quality.
Food was generally good besides that. A little under salted, maybe, but decent. My husband ordered home fries as a side to his sandwich, not realizing that it already came with them. Instead of the server saying "the dish already comes with them, I just want to confirm you want an extra side?" He just made the assumption and brought an extra side of home fries, not what we were intending. Now, I know some of the blame lies with my husband for not fully reading the menu, but a good server would have confirmed the order that was maybe a little odd, especially since we had told him it was our first time dining there. Also, asked for aioli on the side and it did not come like that, came on the dish.
Lastly, pretty sure the owner, Jamie Lynch was eating there with friends. Good to see him eating at his own place, but kinda sad to see these slip ups under his nose.
Loved the area they placed us and the food was amazing. They were so accommodating of our party. 10/10 would recommend.
We were visiting from NYC and had made a reservation here. We asked a few locals for recommendations and everyone said 5Church so we were looking forward to it. The restaurant itself is very pretty. We had the crab cakes with poached eggs and the steak burger as well as the home fries and everything was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this place.
Nothing to brag about in the whole establishment except for the ambiance but food is over priced and not that good should just do away with brunch if you not go serve good food menu consisted of 2 omelettes some burgers a lobster role and shrimp and grits like damn all those chefs and we can’t get a better brunch menu
We’ve been here a couple times and for the most part it was a relatively good experience. This time ... not so much. The Aged NY Strip with the 60 Second Sear technique was just bizarre.... searing that hard on one side creates a tough well done consistency on one side of the steak that it takes away from the aging and destroys a totally beautiful cut of beef. Quite pricy for a poorly done steak small portion of mash in a bloody pool in the middle of the plate. Just poor decision to put that on the menu and stand it up as a premier steak offering
The good reviews on this place are definatly deserved. It was a little hard to find on iphone map but it was worth it once we did. We all had a fabulous filet which were all cooked perfectly (even mine which I ordered "rare plus".) One of the high-lights for me was the collard greens which were unlike any I had ever had. They were in a tomato-y broth of some sort that was sweet and spicy-wonderful. Salads and desserts were both very good. Service was excellent. Vibe was classy-cool. We will go back!
The waiter got confused on what drink I ordered. I brought it up but he didn’t quite understand. It didn’t matter it was a good drink, just not the one I ordered, or worth arguing about. The sushi tots and beet salad were amazing. The halibut and seared scallops were perfectly cooked.
I have been to 5Church for several different occasions. While I have thoroughly enjoyed it in the past, my most recent experience was thoroughly disappointing. We had a large group for brunch (in which I made a reservation days in advance) and they set us up in this dimly lit space towards the back. They set up several small tables that we had to awkwardly combine so we could all sit together. Then, after 30 minutes of waiting, with servers just walking by awkwardly staring at us, we finally were able to flag down a server. Once the server came, he was not attentive and was on the verge of being rude. We had to be very assertive if we needed anything and he did not even introduce himself to us. Lastly, while the rest of the party enjoyed their food, I felt mine was okay but somewhat cold. Overall, do not want to go back after this experience.
The food was fabulous, I will definitely recommend 5Church - Charlotte to friends!
Great place to have fun unwind and eat great food and have yummy drinks.
Went before Symphony, all good, great service, very good food, nice to have mgr check on us a couple times. Keep up the good work!
We were visiting Charlotte and chose to have Sunday brunch at 5Church, and what a great choice it was! The food was great, especially the grits and the brioche French toast! I would definitely return to 5Church if the opportunity arises!
We had 3 people in our party for Sundsy Brunch. We had the crab cake Benedict's and lobster roll. We also ordered the bacon which was superb. The crab cakes were wonderful even though the poached egg was slightly over cooked. The crab was fabulous. The Benedict had a jalapeno beurre blanc sauce which was delicious. The lobster roll was good and came with a large amount of home fries. Could have less home fries and perhaps some pickeled veggies with it. Can't wait to go back.
Good food and excellent service.
When making the reservation and checking the website, it was unclear that they stopped serving their dinner menu at 10pm so we went thinking were going to have full dinner but were only able to order off the late night menu which was a real blow.
Everything was great!
Server was great, very attentive. We sat at the bar afterwards and they were not as attentive. Not busy either, it was 6:30pm.
Great food, but the incredible service is what blew us away. Zach was attentive, cordial, provided great suggestions, and could not have been any better.
Amazing environment, the staff was very Professional and the place overall is very holistic.
Our whole experience was great! We attended the Hospital and Hospitality event and Deshawn was our server. From the moment we walked in we were taken great care of. The food was impeccable. The kids were also so cute!! It was such a great event and I really hope they do it again. The kids all looked so happy..and so did the staff!!
From the service to the food. Outstanding. Will be back again very soon
Brunch was excellent.
My parents live in Charlotte and had dined here in the past because my sister lives up the street, so my dad chose the restaurant. My teenage daughter and I were visiting from out of town. I had no idea what to expect. I travel extensively for both business and pleasure and dine out more than most people as a result. I can honestly say this was the most dreadful restaurant experience I have ever had. We had a reservation and still had to wait 15 minutes for our table, which would not have been so bad if the restaurant had not had rap/hip hop music on at a volume that made conversation all but impossible. Don’t get me wrong...I like loud music, just not when I’m expecting to have a relaxing meal with my family. Things went downhill even further when my dad ordered a glass of wine. The glass was so dirty and sticky on the outside. It was disgusting. Thankfully there was alcohol in the glass to kill any residual germs or lingering bacteria. The music got louder the longer we were in the restaurant. We had the most pathetic calamari as a starter. It was a tiny portion of strips of calamari- like the rings had been cut open and laid flat. It was really odd. My mom, daughter and I all had the scallops. There were 4 or 5 tiny scallops with a 3 or 4 pieces of carrot on the plate with no thought for how the dish was plated. My dad had the Halibut which looked better than our meals, but was nothing special. I used the restroom before we left. To get there I had to squeeze past a bunch of chairs and tables that were piled up in the hallway. Not generally a sign of good management. We all agreed that we would never want to eat here again. My lingering impression is of a place that is trying so hard to be edgy and cool that they forgot that they are a restaurant. The worst part is that they didn’t succeed at either.
Great service, great food and great drinks. I had a wonderful time at dinner!
We had the lamb burger and home fries. Also, got a small pound cake with our meal. Everything was delicious and we will go again.
We really enjoyed our food and the atmosphere!
Good food - but what is this place? Upon entering through blackout drapes, we were greeted by two hosts appearing to be our game show hosts. Lots of chatter on the way to our table with a full description of our server AND HIS BEARD. “Be sure to compliment him on his beard,” we were told.
Our server- who I will call Tigger - had a LOT OF ENERGY. “Was this our first time here?” He asked. With our affirmative answer, he was delighted to prepare us for an evening of a LOT.
A lot of tacky decor, a lot of headlights beaming through the plate glass windows (except where the blackout curtains hung), a lot of activity and a lot of LOUD DANCE MUSIC. HUH?
When I inquired about the music, Tigger enthusiastically told us that on Friday and Saturday evenings they want to create a “club atmosphere.” WHAAAT?
I could go on but to wrap up - good food with dance music with no where to dance.
Luke our Bartender was very Welcoming and an Expert Mixoligist. His recommendations were on point. Our server was lovely and attentive and the food was delicious. The Manager came around twice and checked on us. Such a Well Staff establishment combined with high quality and innovative dining options always makes 5 Church Heavenly.
Not much of a menu. Wish had more entrees. Little overpriced/
Great food and very good service; seared tuna was oustanding...a little noisy for a date, but convenient for pre-show dinner!
Must hit this place if you’re in Charlotte! Impeccable service & incredibly tasty food!
The service was okay, it took them 25 mins to seat us when we had a reservation. It was pretty loud at the bar, people hollering and getting crazy on mimosas and cocktails. The restaurant looks too nice for it to be so loud and rowdy. I will say, the food was great, the options were too. I will definitely go back with hopes it’ll be easier to sit on time and it not be so loud.
5church was probably one of me and my boyfriends favorite places so far. All of our food came out promptly and they even accommodated for his birthday. Overall, the food was great and perfectly portioned.
We went on St Pattys day so the crowd was loud as well as the DJ but it was a beautiful time for my family .
It’s an awesome place for a special occasion.
