Great place and location! Easy for groups and babies. We had a great waiter Adam? Who keep us all very happy! Ranch AKA Dill sauce was amazing!
A delightful surprise for Sunday brunch. We asked the hostess to seat us closer to the front where it was brighter, and we lucked out to get Jared as our server. He not only explained the menu and gave us recommendations, but gave us the history of the building and the story behind the unique ceiling. Food was delicious, including the Bloody Mary.
Extremely disappointed. We ordered two appetizers, two entrees, and two sides. Every dish save two was over-salted to the point as to render it inedible. The clams on the other hand tasted like they were marinated in sugar. I love the ambiance and aesthetic of 5Church but it wasn’t enough to compensate for the abysmal food. There is just no excuse in Charleston for that many dishes in a restaurant to utterly miss the mark. Doubt if we’ll go back.
Delicious food, wonderful ambiance!
The hostess staff were awesome!!! They accommodated our large group even when we had more people then they expected. Our server was very good as well. The food was good for brunch but not stellar. The building is beautiful and I would recommend this as a place to go when in town. Not to be missed.
Loved the atmosphere and the food was amazing. The service was top notch. 5 stars all around! Will be coming back!
We spent 5 days in Charleston, and all our meals were superb. We had lunch here for our last meal. Yep last supper at the church 😉 It was amazing. First of all the rose flight was so good, and an amazing value. The poke bowl was the best I’ve ever have. My husband had a fried chicken blt and fries, and both were great. Our dessert was very yummy cocktails. Everything was fantastic. Service was great, and the atmosphere is very cool. I sure wish I didn’t live states away. Actually my waistline is glad 😂
Mother daughter trip to Charleston. Loved 55 Church!
It was very loud in the non main part of the church room they put us in. A loud Bday party was right next to us not a good first impression!
Service was bad
forgot something and long wait
old long time friend in town
This was the worst restaurant meal I’ve ever had in Charleston. Food was tasteless and served cold. The service was indifferent.
Amazing space! Great food and service, very unique
My husband and I went for brunch for our second wedding anniversary. Unfortunately we were sitting very close to the couples on either side of us and felt like we could not engage in conversation. Our food did not come out until almost 40 mins after ordering it. Not sure if they were short on staff but the service was just super super slow. It seemed the staff accommodated larger parties first (even when we arrived and seated well before a large party arrived).
Coolest atmosphere, best food, amazing service, can't wait to go back!
Restaurant was extremely
Food was great. Service was not as great as the food though. Took forever to get table when we had reservations. Plates not brought before appetizers. Silverware before entree forgotten. Our server was great though. It was good but not my favorite in Charleston.
We came at 3:00 for a 3:15 reservation and we got seated at 3:45, that was okay. We were there for a bachelorette party. After waiting at the bar for drinks, no one ever served us. Once we had sat down, we waited another 30 minutes before we had drinks brought to us. After that, we drank the entire time we were there, ordered appetizers, and some people ordered off the brunch menu which was the only menu available until 5:00 pm. Some of the others didn’t want brunch so they decided to wait until 5 to order off the dinner menu. After 4:55, the waiter came up to us and said we needed to go ahead and order our meals because we needed to be out by 6:15 so they could flip the table. I questioned the manager and asked him what was going on as the restaurant was EMPTY. The manager then laughed in my face and said they were very busy although we could still make reservations on the app and there was a lot of empty tables. We have never been treated as horribly in a restaurant as we did tonight. We will never recommend this restaurant to anyone and it is a disgrace. the water tasted terrible. I can’t believe a waiter (the 2nd one) was so nice and a manager was so unprofessional. I don’t know if I have ever been laughed at for a 68 dollar tab for fries and alcohol (not including tip)! This place needs to come to my home town and take some notes on how to treat people. This restaurant may not close over my review but they won’t be open long. Just another failed restaurant on line. I also found it funny but on the menu they asked for you to buy the kitchen staff a 6/12 pack of beer. They strangely were a lot more affordable then the ones I was buying!
Would not go back at 1:00 on a Saturday. Too noisy and crowded. Food was good (crab Benedict was outstanding). Service very good. However, even with a reservation we were seated at the first table in the smaller room directly in the doorway. Cold and breezy every time the front door opened. One of our party ate in her coat. We will go back, but at a different time and day.
Food was not impressive. Beautiful building, decor and sub par food. Pork chops were tough, fatty and waiter only credited a glass of wine (half the cost) of two pork chop entrees.
Service was impeccable and our table was tended to by multiple staff members for every needed whim! Beautiful restaurant and would definitely go back when in Charleston!
Our server was great especially with my food allergy.
EXCELLENT restaurant! You have to come and check this place out for yourself. Such a unique environment, and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. Food and drinks are fabulous. Cannot wait to return!
Specifically asked the waiter twice for no mayonnaise on two items. They both came with mayonnaise all over them. No apologies. 15 minutes later after having to lose my cool to the manager they finally show up. Apology for the confusion I was told by the manager. No confusion just a bad waiter who didn’t listen, didn’t check on what he served us and didn’t apologize. Terrible. Oh. And our guest was reticent to eat his meal until ours was served and had a cold meal.
Fried chicken BLT the best sandwich ever!
Great food in a beautiful space. It was noisier than usual because of the live music which made it difficult to have a quiet conversation.
The food was excellent and the setting in the old church was beautiful.
Gorgeous restaurant. Excellent service. Food was skimpy, tough, and mediocre at best. Get a good chef and it will be a top notch establishment. Won’t return until.
Server needed more practice learning the details of the menu items from the food to the ingredients in the specialty drinks . They did offer good service recovery when they forgot to bring out the side item and when we Ordered a dessert that they no longer had on the menu ,they did comp for their errors. Food itself was very good quality just needed sever to give more attention to detail . The s’mores cake was an excellent second choice dessert.
Went to lunch on a Wednesday. My wife and I. The waiter was excellent and the food was top notch.
Love 5Church, our goto whenever we are in Charleston. Great for drinks or dinner!
Thrilled we found this spot in Charleston — every aspect was wonderful! Our server, Ty, even gave us historical background on the building and recommendations for other things to do in the city.
Ashley and the bar staff were wonderful. Food outstanding
Went for brunch and it was amazing!
I was completely disappointed. We ordered 2 Bloody Marys and was charged an additional 2 dollars per drink. When we questioned the reason for the additional charge, we were told it was for the alcohol. At $9.00 per drink, we assumed it would include the alcohol ( our server never mentioned this option when we ordered them). Food was mediocre at best and we will never return. There are so many better options in Charleston. They should be ashamed of themselves... ridiculously overpriced. This is the first time I have written a negative review of a restaurant.
Excellent food in a beautiful atmosphere! Can’t wait to go back!
Service was off the charts!
My 2nd time and the food was as good as I had remembered. The highlight were actually the low country cup oysters. However, I was initially disappointed as they tried to seat us in an adjoining area next to the main area. Upon request they moved us to the main area, which is half of the experience as the other area totally lacks the same ambience.
The chef's signature dish was excellent. And the service was excellent with very helpful suggestions.
