Great experience! Our server Anfernee was attentive and professional. Food was great.
BLUF: 10/10 would recommend, Shaved Brussel Sprout Salad was my favorite dish of the night
My best friend was visiting from out of town and wanted to go out for dinner, so we chose 5Church to kick off our Charleston Restaurant Week outings. The food was fantastic and a good price for a three course meal. The Garden of Eden, Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad, 60 South Salmon, and the Bruleed cheesecake did not disappoint. I would eat the Shaved Brussel Sprout Salad every day if I had the option, so good. The service was good overall and it wasn’t overly crowded. The ambience and vibes are great. 5Church is unique—cozy but upbeat. It’s like having dinner inside a work of art, combining two very different houses of philosophy where you can come together with friends to make memories over a meal and drinks. The noise is a little loud, but still easy enough to have a conversation and hear across the table if there is a group. This was my second time here and it was just as good as the first. 10/10 we will definitely be back.
Always the best! Great meal options and wonderful vibe. 5 stars
Food is fantastic. Not a bad thing on the menu. Steak cooked to perfection.
The atmosphere, food, and service make 5Church absolutely worth a visit. We visited for Restaurant Week, so we had 3 courses and a cocktail. Each course was delicious and we also got cocktails which are worth a try too.
We had an amazing experience at 5Church. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The ambiance is great for a date night, family in town, or a friend get together. The food was amazing. Everything we tried was delicious. We are definitely going to be back.
Food and service were very good. Noise level is high. A happening place near the market place.
Visited durning Charleston Restauarnt Weekend. Loved the place. THe shaved brussel sprou salad was amazing, the filet was erfectly cooked and the cronut bites were delicious.
Reservation was made for 8:15. We didn’t get sat at a table until 9:00. Were not kept updated on anything just kept being told it would be a couple more minutes. Food was great. But was disappointed with the wait.
Loved the restaurant and the service was wonderful. We found the food to be salty. Would try again
As per usual, an extraordinary meal with impeccable service.
Awesome ambiance, service and food!
Great food, excellent service. My only gripe is that my husband and I were seated snugly between two other couples. We literally heard every word of their conversations and had no privacy. Really on top of each other to the point of claustrophobia.
Loved it! Food was awesome, portions big and everything was well worth the cost. Service was great and it’s such a unique venue. Will definitely return in the future.
Loved the experience, atmosphere, and food! Every dish we tasted was perfect in description, presentation, and taste. We enjoyed the Tuna appetizer and the NY Strip and Scallops as entrees. The waitstaff was very knowledgable about the history and meaning behind the interesting decor and location of the restaurant. It was our anniversary and we were treated to complimentary champagne. Overall would 100% recommend!
Unique place, very good food and good service.
The food was fabulous and our server was very knowledgeable about all the dishes! Service was just very slow. While the appetizers were served pretty quickly, We waited over 45 minutes for our main course to come out, even though the restaurant was not crowded. Would definitely recommend the food but make sure to give yourself an ample amount of time.
The food was amazing. The service was on point. Decor was very cool. I would highly recommend this as a place to definitely check out.
Honestly one of the best meals I have had in my entire life. From the sushi tots, the filet, and our s’mores dessert, it was phenomenal. I never finish my entire meal and I was licking the plate!
Eclectic venue for any meal or special event! Food is very good and service is adequate!
Had New Year's day brunch buffet. The food selection was very good. The waiter was friendly and helpful.
They seated quickly. The restaurant is very beautiful.
Very disappointed in this years New Year’s Day brunch compared to last years. Last year this was amazing so we were really looking forward to going back on New Year’s Day. This year the service was terrible. The food was nowhere near as good and the options were limited. A drink was no longer included in the price for the brunch. Last year there was great seafood they would bring to your table including crab legs, oysters and shrimp. This year there was only shrimp and oysters that were left out on the buffet. I was underwhelmed this year considering the pricing this year was the same as last year and there was an obvious decline in service and quality of food.
Surprised that there was only a buffet option offered for New Year’s Day, as it was not mentioned on website. Otherwise- lovely experience.
We had an 8:30 reservation on New Year's Eve, but were not seated until 8:45 despite several empty tables. We were told those tables were being held to make room for the DJ and the party later that evening. We were excited about the menu posted on the restaurant's website, but we were told that a pre fixe menu was the only option and that left something to be desired. My date's salad was salty and my filet was overcooked and tough despite asking for it to be medium. We noticed that as the diners us left, their tables were taken away until our lone table remained. Then the party goers started to filter in and milled about around table our watching us eat. This was so awkward. We were rushed through our dinner and when we got the bill just an hour later at 9:45, it was $260! We did not even order any drinks. The pre fixe menu and price was not on the website and the price was not on the meu. If it was, it was so minuscule, neither of us saw it. The whole experience was rushed and thoroughly disappointing for a place with so many great reviews.
I’m sure this is a confusing review, but I must get it off my chest. My experience at 5Church was on New Years Eve... after booking an 8pm reservation ( we arrived on time) and were seated pretty promptly. After being told that there was a set menu for the evening ( that’s fine) , our waitress brought our appetizers immediately. We asked if it was okay to order a glass of wine,(feeling like we were being hurried) . Got our wine, with our entrees. Dessert followed quickly. All the food was excellent! While we were eating, the staff was taking down tables all around us. We were sitting in the middle of this turnover of the room. We asked what was happening and our waitress explained that a big party was planned for NYE. All this is great, except for the patrons who are paying a lot of money for a nice New Years Eve dinner. Sooo.... we’re back at our hotel by 9pm. A one hour dinner that cost $350! Yes, I feel cheated. I hope you made a lot of money that night.
We went for New Years. We were a little disappointed to find a fixed menu after making a reservation on open table where it did not indicate this. The fixed price was $110 each but not indicated on the menu anywhere. The service was exceptional. The appetizer (tuna tartare) was excellent. I had fabulous scallops and my husband had the tenderloin. The steak was surprisingly under seasoned making it rather disappointingly lacking flavor. The dessert was good. Wine selection was excellent. All in all it was a good experience but priced a little high.
The menu was not transparent at all. The prices were not posted online, or on their menu presented, then we got stuck with a check of over $500 ($110 per person). When we asked the waiter ahead of time, he said he believes it was similar to the Christmas menu that was posted- that was $50 a person. The managers were not understanding and if we had known, we would have canceled. The managers actually blamed it on open table and us booking our reservation 2 weeks in advance. Will not be visiting again.
The NYE menu being limited to even children was very unexpected and incredibly expensive. Then when we took a NYE picture as a family, one of the hostesses ruined the picture by thinking it was funny to photobomb it.
The only thing great was our server.
Really creative food pairings the sushi tots area must!
Our server, Kalie, couldn't have been more engaging and gave great recommendations.
So fun! Great food, vibe, and service!
Service was so slow and not all that welcoming!
Poor, pushy service. Pork dish poorly cooked and sea bass overcooked. Probably a good place for drinks only
Excellent food and service. Truly outstanding meal and amazing ambience in a city that has good food.
They are not very good about substituting and originally had a problem with offering a menu item. In the end things worked out, but it was a bit stressful instead of being a relaxing experience.
Food and waiter was great...however the waiter brought us an extra side and a free cocktail and explicitly said they were on the house.....said he was in a good mood and he liked us...then he forgot to remove them from the bill. I was on a date & didn’t want to make a fuss, but unfortunately that’s now what I remember from this meal, instead of the fabulous food and artfully presenter plates.
Our server Olav was amazing
After spending time in Charleston this place was probably my least favorite for a dinning experience. When arriving after making reservation the hostess decided to talk on the phone for 10 minutes instead of taking care of the waiting customers in front of her. When placing our food order they were out of several of the main menu items for their brunch menu and the waitress stated that she didn’t even know what an heirloom tomato was which was indicated on their menu numerous times that they used on the burgers. The question was asked what type of heirloom tomato do you use? She had no clue. The fries were awful and cold at that and the burger was nothing special. Not to mention after ordering our drinks our food came out before our drinks. Overall don’t expect great customer service because apparently the staff doesn’t really care and the food wasn’t worth it either. Choose local places and not chain locations.
Fun atmosphere. Good brunch options, huge portions.
Fantastic brunch! The Pork Belly Eggs Benedict was delightful! Great combination of flavors. The PB&J cinnamon roll was a hit. We really enjoyed the uniqueness of the brunch dishes. Terrific atmosphere. Service was a little slow but still acceptable and friendly! (I'll chalk the slowness up to it being a rainy Sunday morning in the south!) We will definitely return and highly recommend this spot for a great meal. Great addition to the Charleston restaurant scene.
A great experience; service and ambiance was fantastic; no issue with our reservation - we were a little early so had enough time to get a drink at the bar but were seated just a few minutes after our reservation time. Will definitely be back!
