A really cool vibe for a foodie destination. We opted for simple staples for our late night meal, fried chicken and an exaggerated pork chop. We left full and satisfied. The bar area is a must with high ceilings and words everywhere. A great date night or late night destination if you are looking for well executed American cuisine.
Nate our waiter was amazing. Great personalization, made my wife and I feel as if we were the only ones there. The food was amazing the atmosphere was beautiful. The ambience was unbelievable.
My daughter is quite the fried chicken aficionado and she gives the chicken at 5 Church a perfect, best in class, best ever score!! I had the duck which also was AMAZING. Service was excellent snd the setting is beautiful. Will definitely visit this one again and again!
Loved it all! Ambience, service and naturally the food. Looking forward to our next visit
The service and ambiance were wonderful. The food didn't really blow us away I would give it a three. Granted we didn't really get anything too extravagant. Brunch fair eggs over easy grits biscuit. I got the sausage patty instead of the bacon it was like a hockey puck. The biscuit was nice eggs were good. Food wasn't bad but I wouldn't say it was great but for the price it was where it needed to be.
We were able to find a last minute late night table still servicing dinner. The main dining room is beautiful! The fried chicken and ravioli dishes were great and we will definitely be back
Great ambiance and
Would definitely go back
Really disappointing for Charleston. Apps came out in literally 5 minutes. Didn't even have drinks yet. They clearly were just sitting there waiting to be ordered. Quality was terrible. Chicken sandwich was not cooked all the way. Asked for crispy bacon and it was basically raw. Lipstick on glass. Second round of drinks came after we finished eating, but were taken well before we got our food. Just totally unacceptable. No idea how they are still in business in a town like Charleston.
Only complaint is I specifically made reservations 2 months in advance and we weren’t seated inside the church part, which was one of our reasons for booking so far out.
Food and drinks were fantastic! Loved the mimosa flight!
Food, service, and atmosphere were all amazing!
Everything about it was great.
I have been many times. Normally a decent spot. Waiter didn’t know what was available on menu for main course. Kept coming back saying we are out of that after we put order in. Also he had trouble opening wine bottle at the table so we did it for him 😂🤣 And oh ya fight broke out in main room lol real classy Charleston!! 5 star restaurant with people fighting.
We ended up in the private porch that sat 4 so we were able to enjoy conversations. Inside was loud.
Our servers were all friendly and attentive.
Food was good. The pork chop was huge!!
erin was the best!
Great food and atmosphere, unfortunately food took a long time to come out from the kitchen.
We felt like they were trying to turn over the table quickly. We were spending time on the large charcuterie platter, but then the main courses came when we were only 2/3 done. My wifes filet was good. I had the angel fish, and it was so tough, I had to cut it with my wifes steak knife.
Always a great experience!!
Food was delicious. Felt a bit rushed by the server. Dessert menu was left on the table when the main course was served. Servers were diligent with removing plates too quickly.
I’m from out of town and this was recommended. Had a great vibe and very happy with my experience! From food to service to ambiance.
The food was amazing! Interesting dishes and combination of ingredients. I love interesting food. The place was really cool inside and the waitress gave us a nice historical overview of the building. All the staff was gracious and friendly.
I was so disappointed in the service. The hosts were annoyed to seat me at a table for one, though I’d made a reservation for one. The waiter seemed genuinely confused to serve a table of one, especially when I requested an order of oysters on the half-shell and an entree of the day. Despite offering the tables around me refills on their alcoholic drinks, the waiter did not so much as check on my table during the appetizer. Then, the food runner who brought my entree, practically threw it on my table. Before I could take a bite, the waiter asked if I needed anything else. After attempting to cut into the entree with a butter knife, the waiter was beyond annoyed that I requested a sharper knife for my meal. While I ate, another waiter bumped my table and knocked my jacket onto the floor without acknowledgement or apology. Moments later, a food runner elbowed me in the back of the head as he said “sorry” without breaking his stride or looking my direction. I had to ask my waiter twice for a refill of my sweet iced tea, though all the tables around me had a constant flow of beverages. The manager kindly offered me a dessert menu and promptly removed my empty plate from the table. After the manager brought the check, the waiter had the audacity to rush me to give him my form of payment. While using the restroom before leaving, I overheard the waiter complaining about me, despite the 20+% tip I left on my check. I’ve never been so insulted or humiliated for dining alone.
We always have dinner here when in Charleston and we are never disappointed.
We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary with a weekend in Charleston. This was our first visit to 5 Church and it was better than expected! Everything was amazing from the service to the food. We will definitely go back!!
Outstanding experience. It was restaurant week so we got to enjoy steak and salmon and both were exquisite.
I would definitely recommend 5Church. The food was amazing, the service was outstanding, we would definitely come back again.
Waited 2 hours for the food to come out because it was delivered to another table who ate it, and then was made again and dropped 10 feet from our table. We understand that accidents happen, so waiter offered to bring free appetizers while we waited for the food to be made a third time. He never brought any appetizers. Food finally came out and was very good! When we got the bill we thought we might've gotten a couple drinks free since we had to wait 2 hours but nothing was comped. Waiter was really friendly and polite but service was still terrible.
Amazing meal! We caught the last day of restaurant week and enjoyed the steak. It was perfectly cooked and portioned!
Best skillet in my 74 years. Outstanding!
Sunday brunch food was awesome from a menu with excellent options. Busy place, so it was somewhat loud.
Staff was engaging and courteous. Food was excellently prepared and presented.
Cool ambiance, excellent service, and everything was delicious. The praline french toast and grits were the faves of my group!
Great restaurant... Food has always been very good... Love the look of the place... It can get quite noisy (only negative)
Amazing atmosphere, all service staff were attentive and polite. Food was absolutely amazing and we were given complimentary champagne for birthday celebrations!
Our table was so close to the door that goes to the outdoor patio that we had to lean back to let the server out. Our server kept making us feel like we were rushed all throughout dinner. He came to ask if we wanted the dessert menu within minutes of getting our main course. He never asked if we wanted a refill on our wine. Once the check was brought out, he came back within a few minutes to see if we were ready, which we were not. I asked if he was rushing us out and he said no and apologized, which was nice but overall it was not a good experience, especially for what we paid.
Service was amazing and the restaurant was busy!
Food was very good, just would have loved it to be warmer (eggs) which I know is hard to do!
Overall we love 5Church!
Weren’t accommodating, no number to call if you’re running late.
All was very nice except the loud noise level. Couldn’t even converse with my companion.
Maybe some sort of noise buffers/ absorbers should be considered.
Celebrated our anniversary and Jon M provided THE BEST SERVICE - So kind, engaged, thoughtful. He planned a special surprise for us. Can’t say enough about the pride he takes in his work and how it translates to the customer experience. It was a wonderful celebratory evening. The space is also a feast for the eyes. Cocktails were delicious (spritz, smugglers run, strawberry cucumber). Chef’s special 60 second steak was amazing. Thanks 5Church.
Food was absolutely DELICIOUS. Service could be better. Restaurant was stunning! Bathroom was super dirty though ….
