Absolutely LOVED eating here. Such an amazing experience and delicious food!
Went for brunch. Atmosphere was great. Building is beautiful. Food was very good and priced appropriately.
5 Church went above and beyond for us. They were very busy and tried to accommodate all reservations and they did just that. We were unhappy at first but made sure our experience was beyond satisfactory and everyone was happy. Great service and even better food. Atmosphere was outstanding. Highly recommend!
We had an absolutely wonderful time here! The service was excellent, great knowledge of the menu and very attentive. The food was beyond amazing. I had the beef tenderloin and it was cooked perfectly and had great flavor! This will definitely be on my come back to list of restaurants in Charleston
For this restaurant you're clearly paying for the ambience and experience which is very cool. However, MAKE SURE TO SPECIFY YOU WANT TO SIT IN THE CHURCH ITSELF when booking through OpenTable. We did not do this and sat in a side room, still cool but didn't get the full experience. Food was good, but nothing to write home about. Menu seemed a bit sprawling as well and pricey but that can probably be said for many CHS restaurants.
We come to Charleston twice a year and we cannot be in town with our stopping!!! It’s amazing every time
Great location in the heart of Charleston, fun for groups but a little noisy for an intimate dining experience. We had great service and the beauty of the old church has been preserved well. Tasty innovative cocktails and meals.
The food and staff were brilliant. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
We enjoyed our meals during our vacation to Charleston and this was one of our fav..need place and good food- mussels were exceptional and so was the dessert which was complimentary for a birthday celebration.
Just an incredible overall experience, from the food to the service to the stunning building. We ate here and Husk our two nights in Charleston and 5Churchblew Husk out of the water.
Everything was wonderful. It’s a very interesting place to eat with a creative menu
Amazing service, atmosphere and food. Blown away at how awesome the entire experience was! Go there people!
The building was cool, but the waiter tried too hard to please, even seating himself at our table.
He did give us a lengthy overview about the history of the church.
The food was a bit dry, not the freshest.
It is in a touristy location.
The food was amazing! I ordered the scallops and they were the best I’ve ever had! The atmosphere was awesome as well. Our server Justin was great and shared the history of the church. I loved the band/music.
We had an amazing evening! The sushi tots and Ahi Tuna Poke bowls were unbelievable!
Ask for Julia she was very helpful and had great suggestions for the experience
Everything was perfect -- except that it was difficult to hear server due to the load background music.
Interesting restaurant. We had a fun time Food was good
Our server was one of the best waitresses we have ever encountered. She was so helpful and told us the story of the restaurant. Her name was Julia. We will be back. Loved everything we ordered.
Wonderful food and great service!
Nice decorations but food was terrible.. ordered a Bloody Mary and it tasted like watered bland ketchup.. very disappointed in overall experience would not recommend anyone to eat there but nice dining room
I love the atmosphere of 5Churh, it is so gorgeous. However, I made reservations for 4 people at 1145 on a Sunday afternoon and we did not get seated until about 1210. The restaraunt has high, beautiful ceilings, which unfortunately makes noise carry A LOT. We could not hear a single word our waitress said to us. They also advertised they would have their famous 'Holy Sh*t Breakfast' (which was the only reason we went) and come to find out they did not have that that day. The food was delicious & the Poutine was to die for. The menu only offered 5 options with NO subsitutions. My boyfriend and I ordered the same thing and he had triple the amount of home fries than I did. Overall, I love 5 Church but my family was extremely disappointed in the experience.
The building is beautiful and pretty much worth eating there just to see it. We went for brunch and our food was just okay. My mom had the Crab vs. Eggs and the bread was hard as a rock. I ordered the Southern Breakfast, and the biscuit seemed like it had been reheated in a microwave. Also, when we got there the menu was more limited than what was online. But the prices are very reasonable and the service was good. I'd give it another chance.
We were seated without a high chair after letting them know ahead of time we needed one when we made our reservation. It took 45 minutes to receive our food...all while trying to entertain a 2 yr old who had to be held. We walked the restaurant and saw only 2 high chairs in use...2 for a restaurant that size and on Fathers Day. We were offered a half concerned apology. Our water glasses stayed empty and we had to flag people down to ask for more. They had a limited menu without any notice. That being said, they offered 3 items for our 2 and 4 yr old...$8 grilled cheese and $14 French toast(no sides included) were 2 of our options. Then we had to ask for our check and then waited 20 minutes to get it then 10 more to get our card back. What a stressful unpleasant Fathers Day experience.
Geez folks!! Poor service, poor customer relations, and descent food makes me go from a restaurant I would recommend to one I will never recommend or go back.
Fathers Day Brunch was disappointing to say the least. The menu was very limited with very few choices. One of our party is vegetarian and the only option was a salad. The food was just so so, our waiter was not very good or attentive, our drink glasses sat empty almost the whole time. We asked for refills, waited about ten minutes and had to ask a hostess who finally got them filled. I’m a local and had heard good things about this restaurant, but there are too many fantastic restaurants in Charleston and I don’t think we will be going back here.
VERY disappointing! Went there for Father's Day because they advertised a Holy Shi* Breakfast only to arrive and be told it wasn't at this one but the Charlotte location......seriously?? Several VERY disappointed Father's at our table. The food was very limited and nothing special for the price! We def would have gone somewhere different that made the Father's at our table feel a little more special! Will NOT go back!
I’m disappointed in the Father’s Day brunch menu. I was told there would be the Holy S*it breakfast and there wasn’t. Some food items were not hot and our waiter was disappointing. I love 5Church but today was a big disappointment!
It was my wife's birthday and typically I just have a get together at the house with a few friends but, being that this was her big 40th, I called up a buddy (who knows downtown Charleston like the back of his hand) and asked him to help me out with this. He immediately suggested 5 Church. I recognized the building from my clubbing days as the old market Street saloon but I was shocked when I walked in. The building had been completely transformed into a beautiful restaurant complete with a selection of wine and spirits in a display to the ceiling behind the bar (We're talking 20' tall). The menu was very well put together without including everything and the kitchen sink which I am a fan of. It was a bit pricey but I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" and boy did we. There were four of us in the group and we're best friends so we each order something different (so we can sample each others lol). The food was outstanding! Long story short; terrific atmosphere, outstanding food, friendly and we'll mannered staff. The only tick (if any) I'd give is that our waiter seemed to be a little unfamiliar with the drink specials (which my buddy had to correct him a few times) but he took it in stride. (I should note that my friend is the "Van Wilder" of downtown so it's not the servers fault). Would definitely suggest this place if you don't mind paying a little more than your typical eatery.
The restaurant is beautiful & I would have hated to miss seeing it, but while I really enjoyed the tuna tots, we found the rest of the food to be really heavy handed and not enjoyable. Our waiter disappeared for a realllly long stretch and while a host/manager picked up the slack when we asked for things, it was strange to have him gone for so long. The bar tender was unhelpful & not knowledgeable regarding the cocktails on the menu (specials or regular) and overall we were disappointed. The ambiance was amazing however - a not to be missed (maybe for a drink of something route at the bar).
The food was delicious! We got the duck (spectacular,) fried chicken, sushi tator totts, and the meatballs. The service was even better. Our server was super nice. They gave us a hand-written note wishing my mom a happy birthday. Hopsitality was spot on.
Service and ambiance were outstanding
We are visiting Charleston for the first time. 5 Church was a perfect choice for a delicious meal and a lovely evening!
Celebrated our engagement there. One of my favorite places in town, food was amazing and personalized congratulations card on the table.
Great ratings and beautiful historic ambience delivered very mediocre food and an unexciting menu for lunch. The heirloom BLT was two greasy 1.5in slices of bread, a pitiful tomato and some dense mozzarella on top of a pathetic piece of white iceberg lettuce.
Have eaten very well in Charleston until this meal. Very disappointing.
Amazing love it food was great really cool inside. Went to bruch everything was great even down to the coffee
Our waitress, Alyssa, made this experience exceptional. Great food, great environment. It is loud so if you’re looking for a quiet meal this is not the place. Will be back!
Cool venue, very tasty food. Hot spot with lots of energy.
Great atmosphere, great server, bland food. We would not recommend.
Disappointed we weren’t able to sit in the sanctuary area that is shown in the photos. We were told that area is a bar and was closed by the hostess. Food was terrific and was service.
The food was amazing! Our server, Patrick, was very nice and super attentive. You cannot beat the ambiance and atmosphere!
The fried chicken BLT was delicious and the tomato basil soup was probably the best that I’ve ever eaten!
This will be a most eat place for every trip to Charleston!
