The waiter took close to an hour after finishing our meal to getting the checks to us and our payment cards returned. First experience dining here and it was not a good first impression.
The hostess was not pleasant. The food was average; the mimosas were made with a powered orange beverage that tasted like tang. Amy consider going back for dinner but definitely not brunch.
Great service the whole way through. Service is most important to me when dining and the service here was top notch!
Thanks Gina! We hope you come back soon!
I was excited to try this restaurant. It wasn't what i expected. When fries come out cold 3 times that's not good. I love fries that's my guilty pleasure, so I indulge once a week. So, they suppose to have great fries, I can say I was disappointed. Then they ran out of several dishes, so my experience was lackluster
The waiter's really good.
Thanks for the feedback, we've passed this along to our culinary team. Fries should never come out cold - we are so sorry for that! We appreciate the feedback!
All in all it was ok. I had the chicken and it was very dry. My cousins had the burgers and they said the bun was too hard and the lamb was not seasoned. The ambiance was nice, but the ambiance and the food did not match. The server and staff were very attentive and very helpful they tried their best to make sure we enjoyed our first time there. The hostess were sweet and beautiful! Maybe we just came on a bad day. Hoping others experiences were better than ours.
Service was great, food was delicious. Definitely will be going back
My food was delicious! I tried the pork bao buns, grilled octopus as appetizers with skirt steak with horseradish cream sauce and Brussel sprouts as my entree. Everything was well seasoned and tasty! We had a reservation but waited at the bar first as our entire party arrived, and the bartender Mitchell was amazing! He is a true mixologist and overall gem! He had us cracking up! The Holy Water drink he made was heavenly. I ordered another Holy Water when we got to our table that was not as great, the bartenders serving the tables were not as knowledgeable. Also our server was new and had to go check when any question was asked. But overall great experience for our girls night out dinner.
Thanks for the awesome review Chan!!
Jairus was so great! Amazing service, great food, beautiful atmosphere- I wish one was near where I live in California!
Janice was amazing! She was very attentive and friendly :)
Thanks Lisa! We will be sure to pass this along to Janice :)
Mussels are a hit here, but everything thing is outstanding. The 60 second NY strip was best steak I’ve had out, and I travel extensively. Definitely will return often
We agree, the mussels are amazing! Thanks, Jeff!
Very nice vibe, drinks were good.
I enjoyed the coconut rice, shrimp & brussel sprouts a la carte!
Thanks for the awesome feedback! We love the Brussels too!
I was a bit surprised to see a gratuity tax in the bill. Have not seen that at any other restaurant. Also found our from the servers that the employees have to pay 22 dollars to park in the garage and the restaurant doesn’t cover it. Rubbed me the wrong way. Feel like there are a lot of other restaurants that take better care of their employees.
Gratuity tax is per the city of Atlanta. All restaurants must apply this tax when a gratuity is added. Our receipts separate the taxes, that's why you see gratuity tax separate from the regular food/liquor taxes As far as parking goes, there are many free parking options for our employees! We never encourage them to park in the Colony Square parking deck, but our staff does have that option if they want to pay. Otherwise, there are many options that anyone can park at with ease for free.
Excellent food. Salmon dish is amazing. Great for lunch.
Thanks! Join us for lunch again, we may be adding new dishes soon!
The food was great. We had the seafood omelet and short rib hash. The servers could "up sell" better. I think we felt we were "missing" something and then the couple next to us "paired" grits with their dish. Just a suggestion. Love the vibe. The Holy Water and Viper were great drinks and presentation was nice. Will be back. Parking is a challenge but you are downtown.
Thanks for the feedback, it is all noted! We completely agree that parking in the Colony Square parking deck can be confusing. We have been in communication with them to improve upon their signature to better help our clients find their way around!
Food ok, service was inconsistent at the beginning but got better at the end. Overall it was the food that wasn’t that tasty for the price that didn’t do it for me.
Thank you for the feedback. All your comments will be passed along to the entire team to evaluate. We will work on improvements so that this experience never happens again.
We love 5 Church in Charleston, SC but our experience in Atlanta was not on the same level. From service to quality of food it was adequate when we expected exceptional because of our experience in Charleston.
We were curiously ignored for 40 minutes before being seated. Appetizer didn't come. Wrong cut of steak came at 9:40, a full 1 hour 10 mins after our reservation time. We asked for the steak to be comp'd and my girlfriend didn't touch it. I did eat and the grouper was good. Horrible experience, worst so far in midtown
Enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was good. Dessert was a little lacking, though. Overall, I would choose to eat there, again.
Thanks for the comments! What dessert did you purchase? We've love to hear more and improve upon ourselves!
had a good time colony square was a fun place to go out and 5church fit in well with the new development
Thanks Patrick! Colony Square has done such a great job on the redevelopment! We love it as much as you!
Chef Mark Alba's menu is top notch. Everything was absolutely delicious!
We love Chef Mark! Thank you so much!
We had a reservation for 5 and the dining room was nearly empty. My friend wore a baseball cap (you know, bad hair day), but was super trendy and cute. The manager watched us walked, hostesses sat us, waiter took our order, all was well. Until the manager asked my friend to take her baseball cap off per policy. She declined and the manager asked us to leave! I was appalled. We were starving, ready to spend our hard earned money in her establishment and she lost out on $200 over a baseball cap in an empty dining room?
We do apologize but we have a strict dress code that is listed on our website, on OpenTable, and at our host stand. "5Church embraces individuality and politely asks that our guests be respectful in their choice of attire. No sports jerseys, athletic wear, sweatpants, flip-flops, slides, crocs, ball caps or swimwear are permitted. Gentlemen please refrain from wearing sleeveless shirts. Dress to Impress!"
Great atmosphere and location. Server was attentive and made my first time visiting feel special.
The food was great. The ambiance at 5church and the colony overall was 😍. Coming back soon.
Good food and great, attentive service. Recommend for a date night or spot to hang out with friends.
Wife & I had a great Anniversary dinner. Food & service was the best. I do not eat ANY seafood, but the mussels my wife ordered were really good. Think I would order them for myself. I had the lamb burger & it’s definitely top 3 burger I’ve ever had, and I’ve had burgers from many different places. Our server Janice was very nice & attentive. It was our first time visiting 5Church & she definitely made it worth our while. Thanks Janice!
The only thing I wasn’t too impressed with was the virtual lounge upstairs but I’ll give it a pass because it had been raining. The virtual lounge was a key factor in me deciding to try 5church, because I was looking for somewhere we could dine & then continue celebrating after dinner & not have to relocate. Again I will give it a pass because of the rain. All in all a great experience & we will definitely be back!
What a great time!! We are so pleased you enjoyed your anniversary dinner at 5Church. Please come back soon & try out our rooftop bar, Virtue, when the weather is better! Its a great space!
The food and our bartender were excellent. I can not say the same for the hostess. After confirming our reservation, we sat at the bar. Watching the hostess come and personally get other guests and take them to their table, she did not do the same for us. So we decided to eat at the bar, 35 minutes AFTER our reservation time.
I went to the podium to tell her she had skipped us multiple times, and we are just going to eat at the bar. She said she texted me, which was never mentioned beforehand.
When I’m at dinner with my girlfriend, I do not check my phone, instead only enjoying the company.
I am pretty turned off by her behavior, attitude, and overall demeanor when I told her we had been skipped
They offer a glass of complimentery champagne for your birthday instead of a dessert. That would be ok if it's offered at the beginning of the meal instead of the end after one has been drinking already and full from the meal. I suspect that most guests decline the champagne which saves the restaurant money in the end. No cake. No champagne.
A suggestion would be to bring the glass of champagne with a sparkler initially with the appetizer s. I bet that would get the celebration started and the guest would likely order plenty of drinks!
Other than that we really enjoyed our dining experience.
Thanks for the comments, we have passed this along to our FOH team to encourage our staff to offer the complimentary champagne at the beginning of the meal instead of the ending. Unfortunately not all tables inform us of a birthday until halfway through the meal or at the tail end when desserts would normally be ordered, because of this, some staff members have to offer the champagne at the end.
Terrible service followed by overpriced meals. This was supposed to be a special occasion with family from out of town and it was a disaster. The chef refused substitutions for those gluten free and the were out of items by 6:30. I was completely embarrased.
Service, food & atmosphere was great!
Went for Sunday brunch, food was great, service started off great, but then slowly got worse.
The food and service was amazing, I would definitely dine with 5Church again.
Thanks Ashley! Hope you come back soon!
Super nice and good food, restaurant is extremely loud though so if you’re looking for something more intimate this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for a fun upbeat place then this is perfect
Thanks Caroline! Our fun, hip vibe is part of our concept so that music is usually very fun & upbeat! We will make sure that management will keep an eye on the volume level in the future!
Good place to get together and eat some decent food. It was nice to enjoy the rooftop seating!
We're so glad you enjoyed your time with us and loved our rooftop, Virtue! See you again soon!
The food was great but service was below average. Was not that crowded and waiter hardly stopped by. Took forever to get our checks.
My short rib hash was all right, but my friend was a little underwhelmed by her kale salad. Given the cost snd the hassle of getting around a confusing layout (though I worked at Colony Square a long time ago but still see my dentist there), it’s unlikely we will return there. Not a bad resto, but a little underwhelmed.
Thank you for the feedback. We will speak with our culinary team and look for ways to improve. We are sorry about your difficulty with Colony Square's layout. We will be sure to pass this information on to their concierge team as improvements & better signage are needed.
The service was horrible. The server continued
The Fried Poor Boy Shrimp was delicious.
Thanks Cynthia! We LOVE the Fried Jumbo Shrimp PoBoy too!
The mussels were amazing and a must have. The flavor of everything was so vibrant and intentional,
Our waitress Leah was amazing! It was my husband’s birthday and she definitely made our evening enjoyable. And the food was aaaammmmmaaazzziiing!!
Thanks for the feedback! We will be sure to let Leah know!
