I have been to 5A5 about 6 times...it never disappoints. Boy do they know your beef. Whether you are in for domestic cuts or springing for Wagyu, they handle the prep with aplomb.
It was an awesome dinner , service was great, great food and drinks. It made our friends birthday dinner more special.
Every dish was wonderful, highly recommended place for dinner.
Prime rib was awesome!
The service was not too bad
Great food great service!
Worst waiter. So rude!
Amazing restaurant.... we are from Australia and eat out at some of Melbourne best steak restaurants i.e. Rockpool, meat & wine co. , steer and we were very impressed with what we were served at this restaurant. The wine and whisky list was just enough, the steak list very impressive. To top of the experience... the service was impeccable! So pleasant, tentative, respectful and knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend this venue as a ‘must eat at’ spot when visiting San Fran!
Ordering family style allowed us to taste a variety of items. We totally enjoyed the waygu ribeye and the bone-in ribeye. In addition, we ordered a variety of sides and starters. The octopus salad and mashed potatoes was delicious, as was the cauliflower. For dessert, we ordered the creme brulee trio and the sorbet. The black sesame creme brulee stood out for all of us. The restaurant surprised us with a chocolate cake surprise for the birthday girl. The wait staff was attentive, friendly and helpful.
Awesome resuatuant, amazing food!
Service was perfect
Thee best steakhouse...period
Heard about this place., it was okay, nothing stands out.
Lobster tempura appetizer was good, which was big enough for a meal.
Hubby had the 32 oz bone in rib eye steak which was okay, but wouldn’t order it again.
Server messed two things up. Steaks were good but not great. And my friends couldn’t even convince me to keep the bone for broth.
Best steaks
Excellent food and Service.
Nice restaurant, nice staff, Wagyu seemed to me overpriced—maybe I just prefer Angus
Great food! Fast service. Lots of booths too!
Great prime rib, best i ever had
We went here for a friend's birthday dinner. The atmosphere is great. Very swanky. The service was excellent. They brought out the different types of wagyu and explained each type. They have a great wine list. Very pricey but we will go back for another special occasion.
Overall food and service were good, but I have had to ask for a complimentary anniversary desert when I don’t order from desert menu. I always had complementary desert with this beautiful letters and decorations every time but we had to ask this time which is no nice.
Great service, incredible food in an upscale setting!
The food is good. The waiter was not friendly though. Very rough in food handling and groaned when we ask for service.
Great dinner. The bathrooms are super funky..
Liked the lounge atmosphere, and was pleased to be offered various ice options, but it was disappointing to have the gin for a gin and tonic measured using a jigger. You see this in hotels, but not usually in high end restaurants. I was also surprised to see the bartender being responsible for serving food in the lounge which left the bar unattended for some time early on a Monday night. As for the food, the mac and cheese looked very basic, but the Ribeye steak was huge and flavorful.
Great food, excellent service. Perfect for a date night.
The food was good, I would not rate it as 5 stars. My entree Sea Bass was cold, the waiter was very good at taking it back to warm it up, but at this restaurant I would have never thought it would be cold in the first place.
$28 for a side of Lobster Mac n Cheese that had 2 pieces of Lobster the size of a quarter, small pours on our cocktails,
hostess and waiter forgot to celebrate our daughter’s birthday, good service by the bussers and runners though.
Not a horrible experience, just not a good one for our family if you’re gonna charge $500 for four people.
Rosie was our waitress and she was delightful. Food was very good and I liked the amuse bouche, and also your mango version of a palate cleanser. Nice touches.
Only suggestion would be to dry age all the steaks. Otherwise, service was exceptional, from the servers to the front of the house. I would go back.
We came here for our anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint! Love the little extras sent out from the kitchen, our steaks were perfect, and the drinks were perfect!
Dinner was great! Service was amazing! Ben took care of us all night!
send off dinner for a number of friends heading to South America for 6 months. The service was fantastic, our waitress and the rest of the staff were friendly, provided great (not just the most expensive) recommendations.
Food was delicious as always and we got a late reservation so there weren’t too many people in the restaurant. Service was amazing.
Delicious and fantastic. A phenomenal menu with great friendly service.
Food tasty but so cold half the dinner was inedible. Although offered a replacement didn’t want to hold up the rest of the meal. Too expensive for this kind of service but the food was tasty.
Anniversary
Food was exceptional. The service was a little uneven and slower than expected for the price you pay
Valentine’s Dinner. A5 Wagyu filet was expensive but incredibly good. Tempura lobster tail was sublime.
Beautiful layout, crisp, uncluttered, although there is a serious need to re-carpet the stairs down to the lower level, they looked like something out of a frat house. The lobster bisque was delicious but it needed to be served much hotter, I had to eat it faster than I'd planned to avoid cold bisque. I asked for bread with it but it was never brought to me which was upsetting because the tables are set with a bread plate and a butter knife. What's the point if there is no bread?? Confusing. The New York strip was very good as was my husband's prime rib. The cauliflower and mushroom sides were fine, nothing spectacular. We enjoyed our meal but not for the $222 we paid for it. We didn't even have wine.
They ran out of our first choice and the waiter said that happens regularly by “this time,” which happened to be 7:30...that’s pretty early to regularly run out of prime rib at a steak house. We ordered two glasses of wine neither of which were served by the time we’d finished our appetizer. When asked the waiter said they had to go to the wine cellar to get the bottle of Grenache. This was one of four or five reds served by the glass...like running out of prime rib how do you not have bottles of your glass pours at the ready? He ought to have comped the wine by the time it arrived but he didn’t. The food was very good. The service, not so much .
The food was generally good, though simple requests for excluding ingredients due to allergies were met with "the chef won't do it because it won't look good in presentation." This makes business dinners difficult and ended up putting a damper on the evening.
