It was a great place to dine. Due to all of the shops around it closing however, because of COVID-19, it was rather dull outside. It is in a part of town where there is a high homeless population due to the closing of major storefronts. The place wasn’t very populated and they are totally practicing social distancing.
Great food. Past and lamb chops were outstanding. Service was excellent. Wine list left a bit to be desired, but understandable given the current environment. All in all a very nice evening. We’ll be back.
Absolutely delicious food - could have drank the tomato sauce! Wonderful service and well spaced tables- felt very safe. Can’t wait to return.
Great service, amazing food, and perfect outdoor dining option!
A great place with delectable food and a warm ambiance.
Waiter and hostess were adorable! Waiter was knowledgeable, engaging and had good wine suggestions. Secondary waitstaff were also excellent. Hostess was pleasant & attentive. Downgraded ambiance because of a large group of young people smoking large quantities if marijuana next to outdoor dining
Really great food. Staff was amazing and good wine selection
food was terrific; heirloom tomato salad, cacio e pepe, great outdoor space for these very strange time; highly reccommended
Best outdoor dining experience I’ve had during the pandemic. Great wine list. Knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended.
If you want to have decent Italian foods, this is a right place to go. My friend and I had pastas and a bottle of wine that the server recommended, and those were one of the wonderful combinations that I have ever had recently. The con is that outdoor dining is only allowed now, and it’s crazy windy and gets cold in the evening. Also, the weed smell lingered outside when we visited here. Other than that, it’s a great Italian restaurant to visit around SoMa neighborhood.
First of all, the reviews are correct. The food is fabulous, particularly the rice balls. These are the best I’ve ever eaten. The outside courtyard seating was charming. The cocktails were very special. Add the exceptional service to the mix and you will not be disappointed in this restaurant.
Great authentic food friendly service felt like an afternoon on the piazza.
Covid-time seating is outside with good spacing. They have heaters and it is comfortable. The surrounding alley is a little dodgy, but what are you going to do? Staff was great, and pastas, as always, were outstanding!
The food is authentic Italian and delicious, great service, and great outdoor setup during these Covid days!
Don’t think twice! Book your table!
Excellent food and excellent service. I will most definitely return! Pleased to spend my money there.
Dining was outdoors on Mint Plaza. It felt like dining in a piazza in Italy. Service was excellent, wine by the glass list covers all the basis. The food was the star--Porchetta Finocchio to start--exactly like you find in Rome. Pasta course was Gnocchi with short rib Ragu. I don't usually order Gnocchi, because they can be heavy or gluey. These were light and pillowy and the ragu was great. Final course was the grilled lamp chops with broccolini. Chops were cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this restaurant for quality, authentic Roman-inspired Italian food. Excellent option for dining outdoors during Coronavirus.
Our server was great and the food was delicious! Would return!
Food was great and reasonably priced. Drinks are whatever and not cheap.
Everything was excellent: Food, Drinks, Servers, Location! - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Side-note: Called last minute to move our reservation even though the time was unavailable and they were flexible and accommodating, when we showed they took us right away even with keeping social-distancing guidelines. ALSO - marked birthday on the Open Table app and they brought a free dessert! Yum & Thank you!
Lik d the outdoor setting, the food and service was fabulous as always
I'd eaten at 54 Mint a few times in pre-covid19 times and had always enjoyed it. I'd always eaten inside in the restaurant and had never noticed their outdoor patio. This outdoor dining area is a perfect outdoor dining space. The tables are properly spaced out per the current guidelines. I felt very safe dining here. It was the my first time to dine out in SF since before shelter in place. Great food: I shared the Suppli with my friend - these are rice croquettes with melted mozzarella inside and were the perfect starter for our entrees as we each had the halibut which came with asparagus and tomato confit (no starchy side). The bread was also great. We ordered a bottle of Sangiovese Rose having received assurance from our waitress that this was more on the dry side, and it was perfect.
Great food and great service. Highly recommend.
We decided to celebrate our Friday Birthday at 54 Mint because they never fail you. The food was amazing, and our server - Alex was knowledgeable about the menu. We have been to 54 Mint more times then we can remember, and plan on continue going for years to come.
Excellent service and delicious food. Well setup to comply with all Covid mandates. We felt very comfortable dining there
Service is always slow for business lunches. That is my only complaint. The service is good otherwise and the food is delicious! The restaurant is super cool as well.
Return to 54 Mint - remembering lovely experience there in recent past. Visiting friend in city!
Live in Portland Oregon
As always great food and very friendly and knowledgeable service
Had a great time
Super positive experience from start to finish !
Italian pastas at its best
We loved it. It was new to us and I don’t know why we hadn’t ventured there before. Close to Westfield Center so recommend for a post shopping venue.
We had a perfect girls lunch...2 people. The service was charming and delightful, everyone we interacted with was cheerful and polite, and the food was very fresh and in season, not to mention delicious! I fine restaurant...I recommend it wholeheartedly!
Good location, good company, good food & good service
We started with the Cavalo Nero kale salad and the Suppli rice balls, both ample to share. For entrees we also shared the salmon with lentil ragu and the gnocci with slowed braised short ribs. The gnocci were puffy and delicious. The salmon we were served initially was undercooked. The restaurant manager promptly replaced the salmon dish and the second piece was cooked to perfection, some of the most tasty salmon we've eaten. Overall the food was outstanding. Our waitress, Martina was energetic and gave excellent service.
The restaurant has a good wine selection but prices seem to be more expensive than other restaurants in SF. They do have a Happy Hour from 4 - 5:30 where you can get a limited selection of wine, beer and cocktails for a little less. The restaurant upstairs filled up right around 5:30, people probably going to the theater. We'll definitely go back!
Excellent food! Love the downstairs dining room too!
We shared 3 items - salad (the orange and fennel salad); lake superior smelt (too salty by 50%!! but otherwise excellent); and a simple pasta - very good. Only complaint - salty smelt appetizer. Good wine list, reasonable. Great ambiance.
Fabulous experience, from food to ambience to exceptional service. Will definitely return again! The perfect location for pre- or post-theater drinks/dinner!
Food was just ok. Everything else good
Their food is so authentic with their homemade pasta that we thought we were back in Italy. Service attentive but not smoothering. I think the only downside is the prices a bit high- but still worth it! And noise level is a bit high. Bathroom really needs to be updated- it's not very clean. We've been many times before and will go again for a special night. Lovely cocktail menu as well and good suggestions for wines by the glass- they let you taste before you commit- that's nice.
The homemade pastas are delicious, as were the octopus starter and endive salad. Downstairs can be noisy, esp if large groups are seated there.
