Excellent experience! Our server Tania was very nice and knowledgeable! The timing of food from starter salad through dessert was perfect. We had halibut-so good, gnocchi in a meat sauce and the cacio e Pepe . All three meals were delicious! Definitely will return

We chose 54 Mint for its location given we were attending a show at the Golden Gate Theatre a few blocks away. We were seated right away at 5:30pm and ordered drinks and appetizers which arrived promptly. One of the drinks we ordered did not arrive and after 20 minutes we asked about it and were told it was being made but 5 minutes later were told the ingredients were not available. Drinks (Old Fashion, Margarita) were served in a small glass with 1 large ice cube that almost filled the entire glass and had very little of the actual drink in it. Expensive and just ok for the amount served. The ice cube was stuck to bottom of my glass and a few sips in it detached and caused the already little drink to spill out on my face and jacket. Friendly waitress asked if we were seeing a show and what time we needed to leave and was told we had to leave at 7:15pm but she did not take our order for our part of 5 until 15 minutes later. We started to worry at 6:45pm when our meals were not delivered, and when they did arrive the lamb chops were overdone and had to be sent back. It was replaced at 7pm so a rushed dinner unfortunately. The food was ok but not worth the price for the quality or amount.

Outstanding food and service. Short walk to theaters. If four or more people, consider ordering the gnocchi primi as an appetizer for the table. We will be back.

This was our second visit and the experience was the same: superb from the greeting at the door all the way through to our leaving the restaurant. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the wine selection, all Wonderful Italian wines. The food is delicious and perfectly cooked to order. If they have the truffles, you must try them. The fresh catch is local and sustainable. We will be back.

My wife and I dined here over the weekend for our anniversary dinner. The restaurant was beautiful, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. My wife was smiling ear to ear throughout the entire dinner. The wine recommendation was impeccable. She and I decided to share three entrees because we simply could not narrow down our choices. I simply could not put in to words how delicious the food was. From the presentation to the very last bite our meal was an experience and so so so tasty. We will definitely be back and we will be recommending 54mint to all of our friends, family, and anyone who will listen.

We had dinner here prior to taking my 90 y.o. parents to see a show at the GG Theater (celebrating their 60th anniversary). We had a party of 7, and I was worried we’d be pressed for time. When I called ahead to see if I should change my reservation time, they made sure to note our timeline. Our server was absolutely amazing, promised to have us out by 7:00, and we were paying the bill at 6:55! We had an amazing meal, did not feel rushed, and made the show on time! Thank you!

The ambiance and the service at 54 mint were excellent. The food was also flavorful and a perfect temperature. Everything we ate was wonderful. The restaurant would get a 5 star review except for two small things. It was extremely loud on the lower floor. The noise from a far table seemed to carry all the way across the room. Also, when we sat down, we were seated at a long table with another party seated on the other end of the table. I would've liked more space between us and our seatmates. Overall, I would highly recommend this place, it is especially nice for this neighborhood.

We had an early meal at 54 Mint before attending a show on a Friday night, and we appreciated that the waitstaff asked about our timing and ensured that we could finish on time. Wine service was helpful also. We enjoyed the meal. My husband liked his grilled octopus appetizer, and we shared a simple mushroom pasta and tasty, juicy chicken with crispy skin. Italian wines were very good and a nice complement to the meal. My only minor complaint is that we were seated next to a window that was chilly and drafty.

The oxtail was good. But literally only the oxtail on a plate. Nothing to sop up the sauce. Seemed odd. Especially for the price. The oxtail pasta was ok. Not very flavorful. The delivery of dishes seemed to be when ready not when wanted.

We had dinner before a show at the Golden Gate Theater. Our waitress, Tanya, was awesome. She was outgoing and made sure that everything was timed so we would make to our show on time. Comically bad, pretentious and irritating. Required a deposit to reserve for lunch when place was entirely empty. Asked for Diet Coke - “we only have Mexican cola”. Asked for vinegar for salad - “we only have 20 year old balsamic that we charge for.” Asked for refill of iced tea — “we charge for refills.” Asked for sugar substitute for iced tea - “we only have cane sugar.” And with all that, “are you guys ready to order?” “Can I clear you guys’ plates?” Food was good but experience was just plain silly. No wonder it was empty.

We were visiting from Portland and stumbled upon this spot on our last night in San Francisco. Excellent staff, great service, and the food was delicious. Our server recommended a great wine that would fit our taste since we didn’t really know the Italian wine options (pinot noir drinkers from the northwest!). We sat downstairs and it was quiet and intimate for the two of us. Would definitely recommend and go back next time we visit.
