Delicious food and a wonderful staff. We will be back
This place is really cozy and welcoming. We ate upstairs in the bar area as there was a private party downstairs. With exposed brick walls, modern light fixtures and antique tables and chairs, it is the perfect combination of rustic and elegant. The cocktails were creative, beautiful and DIVINE. Served in lovely vessels and designed to perfection. (I especially loved the rose-shaped ice cube in my copper martini glass full of the best gin, bitters and rosewater concoction one could imagine.) The pasta dishes are perfectly prepared. Simple but special. I had the octopus appetizer and it was a very generous portion with rich, spicy flavors. And perhaps most unique was the amazing service. There were quite a few servers around, quickly but quietly delivering and whisking things away. It didn't hurt that our head server was amazingly handsome and charming, while also great at making recommendations. It's so rare these days to experience caring, attentive service. We just loved it!
Steak served cold. Salad was horrible like cabbage with wet mayo
Great food, great service
Can’t wait to go back!
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner, and they even brought us complimentary tiramisu!
I would have given an Overall rating of 4 stars but the restaurant really needs to replace its dishwashing staff. It was hard to enjoy my wine with the white spots and grime streaks all over my glass, and the very palatable food was affected by the dozen large greasy finger prints all over my plates. I didn't call this out in the restaurant because I was with my son, and well, you know how kids are....
Prix Fixe menu for New Year’s Eve was good but the risotto was extremely buttery and I was disappointed as I ordered the vegetarian option in a béchamel sauce for my entree. Fortunately they noticed neither of us ate much of the risotto. They kindly made a replacement dish with a tomato sauce. I was delighted with the service.
The cacio de Pepe was outstanding. As was the gnocchi & the beef tenderloin. The pasta is made in house and was cooked al dente.
Authentic Italian. Casual. Elegant.
Mother and daughter-in-law out for an evening to the theater. The pre-dinner to the show was fabulous with exceptional service. A treasured find in SF.
Delightfully fun little spot! My husband ordered two entrees it was so delicious! The staff helped me with my food allergies and were incredibly kind!
Muy buen lugar, tranquilo y con comida muy buena, porciones regulares y de precio moderado alto. Recomendado para poder platicar y convivir agradablemente.
Love this spot but had a very weird issue with my CC.
When I paid I was told my card was declined 3 times. So my date paid. Went outside and checked-in with BAnk of America and learned (1) My card was actually charged and (2) BOA put a hold on my account because this restaurant has a history of CC irregularities.
Went back inside and they were nice enough to tell us that if they confirm the charge went through they would reverse it. That was two days ago and still have not seen the credit.
I really like this spot and hope that BOA’s warning was wrong and that we just had a CC mishap. Whether I return or not will be determined by if they refund the double charge in a timely fashion and without further intervention by me.
Food is great. Front end greeting less then welcoming. Arrived 10 min early and the place was virtually empty. We were told to sit at the bar (which did not have room for us) or stand in an area that there was no room to wait as we would be seated at our reservation time. When we were seated in the lower level, we were the first in the lower level as all tables were empty. I understand not being seated 10 min early when tables are full or staffing is short, neither appeared valid that night. I had more of a sense it was promoting an elitist attitude. The wait staff were amazing and did not promote that attitude and quickly changed the experience. We will be back because of the food and wait staff. Will avoid trying to check in a few min early :-(
Excellent service and great food the salmon was delicious and the oxtail was so tender and tasty. Would return again
Great bar and the food especially the lamb chops were exceptional ! Will return!
We loved our meal at 54 Mint. The appetizers were exquisite and the cacio e pepe was as good as any we had in Rome!
We had a delicious birthday dinner with two families for a total of eight people. Our server was magnificent and the gnocchi was marvelous!
Very good food and excellent service. This place is a wine bar with good dining options. Atmosphere is pretty funky and could use a makeover.
54 Mint is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in San Francisco, which is saying a lot. I had an orange salad followed by lamb chops, both excellent. There is a very good wine list featuring Italian wines.
The restaurant is small and on two levels. I was in the wine cellar, which is nice, but it was full and that made it a bit noisy.
The food was exquisite and interesting, and the waiter (who was very attentive) recommended perfect wines for our tastes. It was a little noisy for talking, but we loved the whole experience.
Fantastic birthday meal! Husband loves tripe and theirs was the best he’s had- even I (not a fan) liked it
Octopus app super tender and flavorful
Mushroom pasta dish with gluten free pasta shared then lamb also delish.
Our server was great and they surprised us with a bithday pot dish that was gf so I could have some too.
Lovely wine- would go back again soon!
Another stellar meal last night at 54 Mint, with a large group celebrating a birthday. The expert service was attentive without being intrusive, with great recommendations and care for everyone at our table, including an unexpected late arrival whose entree was miraculously ready at the same time as all the rest. Everything was fresh and delicious, and the entire evening was delightful. One of our favorite spots in the city -- it never disappoints.
Everything was amazing but the waiter rushing us to order.
Located in a quaint location. Smart casual ambiance with two levels. Dine for all occasions. Good wine selection ( mostly Italian) and delicious food. Fresh pastas, good portions and great service. It is two blocks from Powell Bart on 5th St.
Server was poor. He was not talkative or friendly. Food was decent but not great.
Excellent service. The lamb is a must have! I had the ox tail which was amazing, but my husband’s lamb was epic!
Our first time. We know what good Italian food should be and what good pasta is. As a result of our recent travels in Portugal we are especially interested in finding reliable SF sources of octopus & squid dishes. 54 Mint fulfilled our longing for a genuine experience from walking in to that last bite of a fine desert. And their seafood offerings were fantastic. The staff is professional and attentive. We will go back happily and soon!
Our Waiter dropped the ball. The apps came out very fast.... but our mains came an hour later and after other tables who were seated AFTER us we served their mains. Poor service. But the food was good and the place is clean.
Great place to eat before a theater show. We were a large party and they made sure we were out on time.
Oxtail was really good , rich tomato sauce with melt in your mouth oxtail, highly recommend..
Wonderful restaurant with excellent food and excellent service. Have been here 3x in the past 2 months. They are lovely and accommodating and the food is exceptional. The gnocchi is heavenly and the branzino special was superb. Also the pork chop! Manager is happy to help find an Italian wine to your liking. This is my new before-show go to place.
Wonderful dinner and an easy walk from the Golden Gate Theater!
We had to move from downstairs to upstairs communal table as loud Xmas party downstairs. It was a very enjoyable evening.
Food was delicious and the service was exceptional
Every dish came far to fast. The main course came at the same second as they took the pa,tea from the starter, even though we said we wanted some space in between. Food tasted fine but nothing exceptional
Nothing to write home about really. I felt this place was little pretentious. Food was GOOD, but nothing spectacular or particularly flavorful that you wouldn't get at any mid-range Italian restaurant in North Beach. Service was extremely slow but I think this is the style and I did not mind it. I felt the ambiance was more for larger groups than for couples or small groups (as mine was). Very nice waiter. Wonderful hostess I must say - I was greeted immediately in such a welcoming way which set the expectation for a fabulous meal, but it just wasn't. Would I recommend to try? Yes most certainly. Would I go back? Unfortunately probably not.
Five friends came in for an early dinner recently while visiting from Canada. Service was EXCEPTIONAL from the moment we entered. Everyone enjoyed the food and we would not hesitate to return. Wine recommendations were very good.
This place is such a sleeper! Spectacular Italian food, excellent service, low key ambiance. Our favorite place to dine when we come to SF.
This place is a fantastic gem with great atmosphere and home cooked quality food.
