   Based on our first trip to this restaurant, we will never go back. The food and server did not impress any of our group. The food was ok, but not up to the 529 reputation or price point. The menu and kitchen are not adaptable to a gluten free diet, which I found very surprising. The original 529 is fantastic and can do most of the menu gluten free. I have always felt well taken care of there. This 529 Uptown experience was very disappointing. Most of the food contains soy sauce. (Alarming for the sodium content of their food. ) There is no gluten free fryer. When asked what I could eat the waiter was hard pressed to suggest anything, and had to be asked multiple times about individual menu items. Eventually he suggested the salmon with only salt and pepper as seasoning. I had to ask outright if there was a GF bun for the burger. He wasn’t enthusiastic about letting me know that was an option which did not bode well for the bun. I had a steak and a side of mushrooms. Not a baked potato, rice dish, or any other GF vegetable to be found to offer as a side dish. The mushrooms were ok but did not come close to what is served at the original 529 location. Our friends tell us the usual mushrooms at 529 Uptown are much tastier, but these were modified to make them GF. There is no need for GF food to be less appetizing. The kitchen is simply not prepared to serve GF food. That’s okay, you don’t have to be all things to all people, but your servers need to be better educated and be able to communicate the message clearly. But the GF thing was only for one of our party of 4. The other 3 also found the food to be ok, but not great. And the server was just really not very good. The bartender stepped in at one point and he was very helpful. Our experience surprised us. There are at least 2 other restaurants in the area that would better overall choices and would easily have managed the GF issues. We were not impressed.

    Food was amazing but took a really long time to get our food. Not our servers fault however wouldn’t choose this place before a Jets game again
