5 Napkin Burger - Union Square Ratings and Reviews
GREAT place. Came here with a group of 6 for my birthday. Amazing waitress that catered to our special requests. It was a little busy and took a little longer than I would have liked for our food and drinks. One plate was slightly undercooked but was taken care of swiftly and was no problem. Definitely a fun, trendy spot. Would come here again in a heartbeat.
Service was good, however there was a child's birthday party and the parents were very rude and had no respect for the other diners. Although an awkward situation, the hostess could have told them to quiet down as they were running around frantically and screaming in the restaurant.
Really used to like 5 Napkin, but haven't been in a couple of years, so I am not sure when they changed their menu, but the burgers are not as good as they used to be. The bun was wrong for the burger, the Turkey burger tasted like olive meatloaf and my wife's cheeseburger was dry and bland, neither of us finished ours. It is too bad, the drinks are good and the service and space are both good. Hopefully they will get things back on track soon.
Best burger I've ever had! Every bite is juicy and basically drips as you eat, but you never feel as if your eating a bunch of grease. Great taste, and very filling! The sides come separately but you better have a friend to share them with. Great service, even better food. It's casual dining that's right on the corner of a busy intersection so you can sit on the patio or still people watch from inside with all of the big windows. I'd stop here again anytime, it's perfect for a worked up appetite after walking all over the city!
They were very patient with me as I had a reservation but my lunch partner was extremely late. The food was good and came out in a timely manner. I got the avacado burger which was delicious but a bit of a mess to eat. Nothing a fork, knife, and five napkins couldn't fix.
The service was good. Food was amazing. However, I ordered a can ginger ale and the waitress said I'm lucky because that was their last can. When I took a sip it didn't taste as it should. Turns out it was expired 4 months ago. I would be careful if I ever go there again.
We made the reservation and was sat immediately. The restaurant was pretty empty. The waiter took our order and we figured it would be a quick dinner. The tables filled up and then we noticed that tables seated after us were getting their meals. We called the waiter over- he hadn't been by in a bit and asked-where was the food. We initially went there for a quick meal after we brought our daughter back to the city. We told him about the tables that got food that were seated after us. He came back- no food. "The manager is looking into it". The manager came over and said the food was being cooked and that it will be right out. He never had a reason for the delay, however he comp'd us for the meal and sides. The manager did and said all the right things so it was fine and we will go back. The Tuna nachos were really good. The wings were a bit on the spicy side.......
The food is okay, but for the price it should be much better. The bacon cheddar burger is bland and the bacon cooked to a wooden consistency. While waiting for me to arrive, my friend ordered a Hendricks martini at the bar. $20.00!! And then they suggest a 20% tip! They've got you by the short-and-curlies here, and if there were more choices in the neighborhood, they'd be in serious trouble.
This place is consistently good. The Union Square location is great for pre-theater dinner at CSC, and the Hell's Kitchen venue is great for pre-Broadway, or anything in that area. Fresh food, and really friendly service. Certainly one of the best beef burgers in NYC, and the Italian turkey burger is outstanding. A vegetarian burger is very good, too.
I have recently been given a few dietary restrictions that aren't always in line with what one might expect at a burger restaurant, but my friends wanted to go there They could not have been more accommodating at letting me tailor my meal. That's really important as in many cases where I can go is limited based on menus.
Excellent value for the money and a very nice mid-priced place in the midst of a lot of expensive restaurants. While I don't drink, my friends were able to take advantage of the happy hour and thought the drinks were great.
If you're going in peak times, reservations are highly recommended. The Hell's Kitchen location books up pretty quickly, especially in pre-theater times.
SO I'm a burger fan, and this place fit the bill! I had the cheddar bacon burger and was absolutely thrilled by the size and taste of the burger. Sweet potato fries and an onion tower complemented the meal. The atmosphere was MUCH more interesting and exciting than I was expecting -- this is a true New York destination! Make no mistake about its touristy sounding, brand name...the upscale decor explained locals who were enjoying the fantastic bar. This is an excellent place, and a refreshing break from the normally exorbitant prices of Union Square establishments.
I am a frequent 5 Napkin Burger diner and usually a big fan but the service this evening was so atrocious i just had to say something. It took probably 10 minutes to even be greeted; ordered items did not arrive, even after multiple reminders, and overall it was a deeply dissatisfying experience, to the point where my returning (despite the awesome burgers) is in serious doubt.
I came here with my family and my roommates for my birthday celebration on a Wednesday night. The dining room was quiet when we arrived, but picked up as the night went on. The service was good, and the food was delicious! They had something for everyone! The tuna poke nachos and the truffle burger are a must have!
