Best burgers in NYC. Wait staff seems a little overextended; restaurant could probably have more severs and reduce the number of tables staff is responsible for. But that's a small caveat. Great, reasonably priced place for a burger and a beer.
Very good burgers, cocktails were awesome and not too pricey.
Somehow the place is very noisy.
Waiters are very nice and professional.
Nothing bad, nothing wonderful -- except our server who learned we didn't have much time and who then rushed our orders. We were steeply appreciative.
Pros: our waitress was very nice. The decor/vibe of the place is nice as well, and it's a large space. I really enjoyed my rum punch!
Cons: My burger cost $15, and did not come with fries or any other side. I might have let this slide if it had been an amazing burger, but it wasn't. I got their (self-named) 5 napkin burger, and I found the cheese to be oddly hard and chewy - not melted - and the caramelized onions and sauce to be pretty bland. My husband and I both felt our burgers were cooked well beyond what we'd requested; his ended up well done and mine ended up SO well done that it was hard to bite into. If your main menu item is burgers, and that's the bulk of what you serve, you should have that down to a science. It was very surprising that getting the burger ingredients and temperature perfect isn't a top priority.
I also feel that this is a significant change from the last time I was there, when I quite enjoyed my burger. I'm plan to look around next time I want to eat in the area.
Quick bite to eat wandering around union square on a Saturday and pre-show before wandering into the theatre district. Burgers and fries were good. Restaurant was pretty empty so it was quiet. Waitress was only somewhat attentive..... for such a quiet afternoon I thought the service could have been better.
Met friends before going out to a bar for a friend who was sing, and recommended this place. Always spot on. They cook the burgers correctly. Medium tar is medium rare. Not a huge fane of our waitress saying “how would like that cooked, medium?” For this that say a temperature in the order. A simple - how would like that cooked would suffice.
Otherwise really good as usual!
I have eaten at this 5 Napkin Burger many times and have always enjoyed it, however, tonight I was very disappointed and annoyed.
I had a 6pm reservation and was not seated until at least 6:15pm. I explained to the hostess we had to be somewhere by 7:30pm and she assured me we would be seated shortly.
We were finally seated and then did not get our order taken for at least 15 more minutes.
At 6:50pm, I had a hostess check on the food, since the waitress was not around and she said it would be soon. Finally, the waitress appeared and went back to the kitchen and brought out the food herself, so it didn't have to wait for a runner, which I appreciated, but from a 6pm reservation to not be served until almost 7pm when the order was 2 veggie burgers & fries is not really acceptable.
I understand they were busy, but then they shouldn't accept reservations, if they can't honor them.
Comfort food , friendly service , casual eating , burger is a notch above Mcdonald.
Fantastic food as always, and great service even on a very busy Christmas day!!
Good reliable food - burgers, turkey burgers, great fries. Service varies. This particular day, server was a little less than attentive - forgot drink order, didn't return, etc. Nice enough but not well-trained. No big deal but less than good.
Took my family when they visited from out of town. Everyone agreed that the burgers were amazing! Great atmosphere as well.
Love this place. Very friendly service, great food, nice vibe. What more could you ask for?
Great burgers for a great price and awesome service. Booths are hard to find in NYC, and 5 napkin has tons of them.
Great selection of burgers
Great burger but the onion rings, which I remember as being amazing in the past, were clearly mass produced, out of a box, and very disappointing. Go for the burger, the onion rings....not so much.
