5 Napkin Burger - Hell's Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
5 Napkin Burger is one of my top 5 restaurants in all of Manhattan...possibly all of America...And this is without question my favorite Burger in the whole world. We had an awesome meal hanging out with our close friend who was in town from LA, and he was blown away by the Original 5 Napkin Burger and the sweet potato fries he ordered, and both my wife and I LOVED our meals, but we ALWAYS do. If I could actually eat it I would order at least 2 if not 3 burgers from the menu, because they're all DELICIOUS!!!!
The prices here are incredible for the overall experience....Just writing this review is making me crave another original burger right now!!!
We were on a Mom/Daughter trip; 5 Napkin was a suggestion from a friend. So happy we went! We made reservations to have dinner before seeing Lion King. Our waiter (wish I could remember his name) was a hoot - so fun and attentive! We had buffalo chicken wings - delicious; tuna steak burger - amazing; Brussel sprouts - yummy and a great wine list to boot! We would definitely go back again and again!!
My burger was delicious and dripping with toppings requiring the 5 napkins of the name, the sweet potato fries were yummy too. They handled our large group well and our food came quickly so we had plenty of time to get to our Saturday night Broadway show. Unfortunately, it was incredibly loud, and overly dark so I couldn’t tell you much about the ambience, good or bad. It might be more appealing as a location during the day.
First off, the food was excellent. Unfortunately, the service left a LOT to be desired. While the waitress was attentive, she made it quite clear that she didn't care. We had a coupon for a free order french fries. When presented with the type of fries that we would like, regular, sweet potato or crinkle cut, we chose crinkle. When the food was delivered, we received regular fries. I mentioned this to the waitress, and she said, "No problem. You can keep those and I'll bring you some crinkle cut fries." My wife and I finished our meal, and we were presented with the bill. First of all, there's nothing more tacky than circling the "suggested tip amount" on the receipt. It's fine that it prints on the receipt, but to have the waitress actually circle it is like a slap in the face. Secondly, there was a charge for french fries. I mentioned to the waitress that we had a coupon, to which she responded that the charge was for the second order of fries. I informed her that I didn't order a second order of fries, and that if she was going to charge me for them, then why did she tell me that I could keep the first order? To this, her response was that once the kitchen delivers it, the charge can't be taken off the bill. It was at that point that I asked to speak to a manager. The manager removed the charge before even coming back to the table. It was that easy.
Combined with the circling of the suggested tip amount, I knew that the waitress was just looking to pad the bill. That's too bad, because what should have been a great night out with my wife, is now a talking point to all friends when they ask how my trip to 5 Napkin Burger was.
