5 Napkin Burger - Boston Ratings and Reviews
The ambiance and food were wonderful, however the service was much less than to be desired. It took a while before we even got to order our food and we’d been there an hour and a half (mostly with empty drinks) before we actually got to eat. At one point, we actually got up to refill our own drinks with the pitcher of water at the waiters station next to us because our waiter only checked on us twice in the two hours we were there. As a restaurant that’s directly beside a convention center, I would expect much better service, especially since the place had multiple tables empty still, so they weren’t even packed. The food was pretty good, but I would not deem it worth the wait.
I work nearby but have never beer here before. I got the Avocado Burger medium. Cooked perfectly and the guac topping was delicious. I'll make it a point to come back in the future. E everything is ala carte which is nice if you are trying to watch your weight. If you give me fries, I'm gonna eat them. Happy they don't just come with everything. My friend got them and they were tasty.
We ate here after the Boston Pops concert. You could walk to it, is is about a 12 min. walk down the street. Parking is easy though, at the Pru Center and you can walk to it in a minute or two from there.
It is pricey, but worth it because the burgers are amazing! You will need about 5 napkins to eat it! They are very accommodating. We changed our reservation time an hour prior and it was not a problem.
I've never been to 5 Napkin Burger before, I'll be back. I went because it was a convenient spot and when I glanced at the menu on-line, it looked "fine". It was way more than fine, it was delicious! Actually, none of us traditional burgers and we all loved our selections. I will go back there to try more of the food. I had a grain salad with deliciously cooked salmon on top as did my friend. Another friend had a tuna steak sandwich that was also cooked correctly and yummy. The brussel sprouts were also so good.
I thought it was a knock off of a different burger chain and it was SO much better and so much more.
Our server was very good, too.
We really enjoyed our meal at 5 Napkin Burger and would definitely return. It's not a place we'd go every day, as it can get moderately expensive quickly (1 cocktail, onion rings, and a burger = $37/person), but the menu is exciting and worth trying more of. My friends loved the lamb and truffle burgers, while my turkey burger was on the bland side. Boozy shake and onion rings were great, and we had seconds of the house-made pickles.
This was our first time at any 5 Napkin and what a treat it turned out to be! We were able to get a pre-theater reservation -- unusual in that area on a Saturday evening. Our waitress was terrific: efficient, pleasant without being obtrusive. The food exceeded our expectations in terms of quality and value. I had the lamb burger on a salad and he had the beef burger on a salad. Our only "criticism": portions were gigantic and because we were going to a concert immediately after dinner, we could take the remains home. We're looking forward to our next visit.
First visit. Pleasantly surprised because I expected a "burger joint" but this was far nicer with an imaginative menu for serving mostly burgers, as well as a couple other proteins. I would go back for a casual meal prior to a theater or other type of performance in the area, which is what brought us there last Saturday. I did find it a bit pricey for what was served however... our bill for 2 was over $70 before the tip and we each had only one cocktail. That will temper how often I go back, but I definitely will return.
I was very disappointed by this place. They somehow managed to get all of our orders wrong. Not to mention we waited over 35 minutes for our burgers to show up.
Burger were wildly over cooked, I asked mine to be medium, and it was 100% well done. My friend asked for the egg to come on the side of her burger and they didn't do that either.
My other friend asked for an egg for his salad and didn't get it. I asked for sweet potato fries and they put it on my friends order.. to top it all they forgot about my other friend's order of milkshake.
what a complete MESS.
The waiter was just unprofessional and we really did not have a good experience. Ate so many better burgers than this one - BBC, yard house, five guys, tasty burger and more.
Will not be coming back there.
After seeing this restaurant, which has locations in NYC, we were excited to try it. The burgers are large. That said, the quality was average. I had a Kale salad bowl with Tuna, which was nothing special. My family had the burgers which were not as good as what they had at Red Robin. Disappointed.
The decor was plain. The service was good.
Love at first bite. Didn't recall what i had ordered on my last visit, but as soon as I but into the burger I remember why we were back. Good drinks, GREAT burgers. We were late for our reservation but sat us quickly and got our food out quickly so we could make our show. Good food, good service, good times.
I went here earlier this week to celebrate my brother's birthday. The service was awful to say the least. We went at 8:30PM, the host was very welcoming but the waiter acted as if we were barging in last minute, the place closed at 11PM!!!! We went on a Tuesday, so it was pretty dead. He got annoyed at me when I changed my drink order from a glass of wine to the same beer my brother ordered. I apologized but he ignored me. We split an appetizer and before we could even dive into that, he was rushing us on our entrees. So, we ordered them on the spot. I was pretty surprised to see this place charged $5.50 for fries alone since they don't come with the burger. The food was pretty bland overall. The waiter didn't drop off our food nor did he come over to ask how everything was. Was pretty inattentive to our waters being empty for twenty minutes as well. While we were still eating our burgers, he dropped the check off and didn't asked if we wanted dessert. Which would have been nice since it was my brother's birthday. Bill came to $86 for two burgers, three beers and an appetizer. Oh! Don't forget the $11 for fries. I didn't realize I was in Fenway park. For that type of money, we should have gone to Capital Grille across the street. Better service and the food would be worth that type of money spent. Also, the to-go boxes would maybe fit a kids meal. Mine would not stay closed for anything. I had half my burger and left over fries in there. It opened overnight and the burger was totally dried out come morning. Low quality meat for a $14 burger. All in all, I won't be going there again.
Service was not friendly and very slow. Server checked in with us only to take drink order, dinner order and then to bring the bill (without even asking if we were done). 4 of us all had overcooked and WAY over salted burgers. Been to other locations that were great. Will not be returning to Boston.
Dinner for 3, early reservations (5:30). Seated right away. Prompt greeting and waters from server. Good craft beer and cocktail menu, better quality than quantity of selections. Had the original burger, a truffle burger, buff chix, chili waffle fries, 3 beers and a milkshake for $88 before tip. A bit pricey but appropriate for the upscale, city location. Ordered my burger med rare, but it was closer to rare, but still amazingly good. The done-ness is pretty subjective anyway, so no complaints. Really cool ambiance. Urban, upscale vintage / retro look. We all enjoyed our meals and recommended it to friends.
Burgers are good (even the tuna burger!) Beer was fine -- the selection spans a lot of ground, but not deep. Noise level was high due to single very large table, but once they left, it was fine. Service was slow. Not sure what our waitress was doing, but we didn't see her much. Didn't know that March Madness games would be on TV, but that was a bonus.
We have been here several times, and each is just as good as the last. The original 5 Napkin burger is to die for. Delicious! Great beer list here, and good cocktails. The Smoky Tommy margarita was delicious. Our waiter was personable and gave us just the right amount of space, and input when asked or needed. He made the evening that much more enjoyable. We will keep coming back!
The burger just wasn't good. Onion rings and sweet potato fries were good but when you have burger in your name, you expect much better! The server had a blasé attitude and didn't have anything great to say about the menu and it seemed like we were intruding on her life being there.
