Service was slow and non attentive. Food was overpriced and mediocre at best. Barely needed one napkin.
Came for brunch, pancakes had a lump of salt and service was terribly slow. The New York locations are much better.
Good food but service was a little slow .
I feel this restaurant is a bit of a hidden gem even though it’s situated in the prudential center. If you’re in the mood for a real burger then you can’t do much better than 5 Napkin.
The signature burger is one of the best I’ve had ever. The beef is delicious and juicy. The sweet potato fries were crispy and hot.
I was disappointed with the order the way things came out -- first. the french fries , second the burgers, third, the drinks, fourth the chicken wings. I did complain, and the restaurant did the right thing by discounting the meal. Nevertheless, food quality was good, service was also good and the portions were adequate.
surement pas le meilleur hamburger de boston, fait le job sans plus
Opted for a business lunch here. Very, very slow service (almost inattentive); a bit limited on lunch menu options. I've been here for after work drinks which has been a solid experience but lunch was another matter.
Server was absolutely horrible. A few of us ordered the happy hour sliders (ends at 6) around 5:55 and he said he could make it work, came back and told us he couldn’t put it in the computer and would ask if we could still get them, never came back and gave our friends who didn’t order sliders their meals and never said a word to us that did. I called him over and he said he thought because there were no sliders we would not want a meal and would sit with our friends while they ate. Absolutely not okay and very disappointing. On the other hand, the manager handled it PERFECTLY and was so kind and accommodating to us. He brought us out another meal for no charge. Food was great, manager was amazing, just got stuck with a horrible server. Hopefully just a one time thing but still very frustrating.
The food was great. But the service was the opposite. After we were seated, we waited for at least 15 minutes before our waitress even took our order. When we ordered, we ordered our drinks and food together because we had already waited too long. It took over 30 minutes to get our beverages from the bar, but my boyfriend’s drink had been sitting for awhile because there was no head on the beer. I had ordered a non-alcoholic lemonade, but it hadn’t been delivered to the table at the same time as the others. I waited for another ten minutes before I asked the host if he could have my waitress deliver my drink, having not seen her since she delivered the other drinks. We got our food, delivered by someone other than our server, but 10 minutes after receiving our food, she finally brought me my drink. The food was great. The service just wasn’t. It didn’t seem too busy, and the section that she was serving wasn’t full. It is too bad because the ambiance was fun and a friend recommended it to us.
Have been to 5 Napkin a few times over the years. I don't think they've bothered to change their menu once. They don't even introduce new apps or a burger of the month. It's stale, boring. I got a the texican salad with chicken and my friend got another with salmon. From the description, the texican sounds like it would be a hearty, delicious meal- not so. It was basically lettuce with watery "buttermilk ranch" dressing and about 5 kernals of the corn that's supposed to be in the salad. The chicken was good, but the dish was mostly a giant disappointment.
The food was just ok. Many better burger places in town.
The salad bowl with burgers were delicious. The service was extremely slow - over 40 minutes between ordering and getting served our meals. It has been much faster on previous visits, so I'm not sure what was going on with the restaurant that night.
We waited nearly an hour for dinner to arrive after ordering. Waiter, who disappeared for a long time, had no idea it was my daughter's b-day, which was in the opentable comment (probably not his fault). Have been to NYC location(s) many times and food seems better tasting/ quality (fries were super salty at Boston location). Kinda bummed us out..
The ambiance and food were wonderful, however the service was much less than to be desired. It took a while before we even got to order our food and we’d been there an hour and a half (mostly with empty drinks) before we actually got to eat. At one point, we actually got up to refill our own drinks with the pitcher of water at the waiters station next to us because our waiter only checked on us twice in the two hours we were there. As a restaurant that’s directly beside a convention center, I would expect much better service, especially since the place had multiple tables empty still, so they weren’t even packed. The food was pretty good, but I would not deem it worth the wait.
This restaurant is staffed by beginners. The food is hastily prepared without even adhering to the ingredients listed in the menu. Nearly frozen greens with scant add-ins. A rude and gruff maitre'd. Mediocre wine. Don't spend your money here.
Solid burgers, with interesting flavor variations. Exceptional shakes . Very good salad alternatives for those that do not like burgers.
This was my first time a 5 Napkin Burger but definitely won't be the last. Burger was massive more than I could actually eat and the fries were awesome. Took my 9 year old very picky eater and he wanted more fries. So definitely a big hit!
New Years Eve
I work nearby but have never beer here before. I got the Avocado Burger medium. Cooked perfectly and the guac topping was delicious. I'll make it a point to come back in the future. E everything is ala carte which is nice if you are trying to watch your weight. If you give me fries, I'm gonna eat them. Happy they don't just come with everything. My friend got them and they were tasty.
Service was good. Loved the Manhattan. Bacon on the burger was top notch, as was the burger (fresh lettuce, tomato an
I normally really love this place. But the service has gone down hill and the last time the food wasn’t as good as it normally has been in the past
We ate here after the Boston Pops concert. You could walk to it, is is about a 12 min. walk down the street. Parking is easy though, at the Pru Center and you can walk to it in a minute or two from there.
It is pricey, but worth it because the burgers are amazing! You will need about 5 napkins to eat it! They are very accommodating. We changed our reservation time an hour prior and it was not a problem.
I've never been to 5 Napkin Burger before, I'll be back. I went because it was a convenient spot and when I glanced at the menu on-line, it looked "fine". It was way more than fine, it was delicious! Actually, none of us traditional burgers and we all loved our selections. I will go back there to try more of the food. I had a grain salad with deliciously cooked salmon on top as did my friend. Another friend had a tuna steak sandwich that was also cooked correctly and yummy. The brussel sprouts were also so good.
I thought it was a knock off of a different burger chain and it was SO much better and so much more.
Our server was very good, too.
The food was very good and the service was quick. The hostess was kind to move us to a table we preferred. The background music was too loud and the waitress got it lowered. All around good job.
The burgers were great and very tasty. One came out under cooked but they cooked a new one and took it all off the bill without us having to ask.
We really enjoyed our meal at 5 Napkin Burger and would definitely return. It's not a place we'd go every day, as it can get moderately expensive quickly (1 cocktail, onion rings, and a burger = $37/person), but the menu is exciting and worth trying more of. My friends loved the lamb and truffle burgers, while my turkey burger was on the bland side. Boozy shake and onion rings were great, and we had seconds of the house-made pickles.
Horrible. NYC much better.
We were celebrating 21st Birthday and it hit the spot for him. Casual, huge burgers and fun drinks. Definitely more younger persons place, and that's what we were looking for.
This was our first time at any 5 Napkin and what a treat it turned out to be! We were able to get a pre-theater reservation -- unusual in that area on a Saturday evening. Our waitress was terrific: efficient, pleasant without being obtrusive. The food exceeded our expectations in terms of quality and value. I had the lamb burger on a salad and he had the beef burger on a salad. Our only "criticism": portions were gigantic and because we were going to a concert immediately after dinner, we could take the remains home. We're looking forward to our next visit.
Service, food and location was Excellent! We will be back!
First visit. Pleasantly surprised because I expected a "burger joint" but this was far nicer with an imaginative menu for serving mostly burgers, as well as a couple other proteins. I would go back for a casual meal prior to a theater or other type of performance in the area, which is what brought us there last Saturday. I did find it a bit pricey for what was served however... our bill for 2 was over $70 before the tip and we each had only one cocktail. That will temper how often I go back, but I definitely will return.
Noisy crying babies, expensive,Rude waitstaff, and When did fries become A la carte?
Burgers were juicy and tasty. Shakes and floats were delicious.
I was very disappointed by this place. They somehow managed to get all of our orders wrong. Not to mention we waited over 35 minutes for our burgers to show up.
Burger were wildly over cooked, I asked mine to be medium, and it was 100% well done. My friend asked for the egg to come on the side of her burger and they didn't do that either.
My other friend asked for an egg for his salad and didn't get it. I asked for sweet potato fries and they put it on my friends order.. to top it all they forgot about my other friend's order of milkshake.
what a complete MESS.
The waiter was just unprofessional and we really did not have a good experience. Ate so many better burgers than this one - BBC, yard house, five guys, tasty burger and more.
Will not be coming back there.
Waitress was not good. Burgers came out over cooked and we actually had to bring the burgers inside (we were doing outside) manager did come out with the new burger, just not a great experience. Will not be going back.
After seeing this restaurant, which has locations in NYC, we were excited to try it. The burgers are large. That said, the quality was average. I had a Kale salad bowl with Tuna, which was nothing special. My family had the burgers which were not as good as what they had at Red Robin. Disappointed.
The decor was plain. The service was good.
Good food in a central location. Love the pickles! Good choices of burgers and drinks.
We enjoy this place before concerts at Symphony Hall and it has become our tradition for lunch on Marathon Monday. Food and service always great.
Was here in Boston for my husbands conference. The food was good, but a bit overpriced given the quality. The burgers were huge, though! Overall a very good choice of restaurant!
