Weird concept....no menus, just tell them whatever you want. Aside from the fact that you have to ask about prices (and that seems so rude), you don’t get to experience anything creative or new.
We just ordered burgers, which were good, but it just felt so off. Not sure I’d go back.
Also, no staff wearing masks, although sign on door clearly stated they were required.

This was our first time at this restaurant. I had informed our server that this was our first time as well. She rushed and we could barely hear her about how the restaurant works. Also there wasnt any explanation on pricing.

We were there with a party of 8. 2 other tables 1 a party of 6 and the other a part of 4. They were seated after our party but both tables ordered before us and left before we did.

Food is great. No menus but they will prepare you just about anything. Good, fresh ingredients and great servers. Talk to the chef to get more ideas of what you want him to make. Prices can be very high for some folks but talk to your server up front and you can avoid sticker shock when your bill arrives at the end of the evening. Great hidden gem of Milwaukee!

We loved 4th Base. There is restaurant seating but we sat in the bar area. It was fun to have drinks and music in a pub like atmosphere but still experience an upscale food experience.
The oysters were amazing and we loved both the steak and scallops.
Would return for sure!

Trying to rate this place is hard because it’s unique- it’s rare to find a hole in the wall bar with great food. We didn’t really know anything about the place but came for dinner at 5:30 on a Saturday night- when there was a Badger game on tv. We had a reservation but that seemed kind of unnecessary when we were just told to sit at a sticky high top in the corner. The case of fresh meats, seafood and vegetables was really different- we spoke to the chef and told him what we wanted and how we wanted it prepared and that was great. The food came out separately as it was done- and as we sat listening to the locals yelling at the football game. We ordered wine to go with our $50 steak and the waitress wasn’t sure if they had a Cabernet. The bottom line is if you’re going strictly to experience the food- it’s worth it. If you want ambiance and the things that usually come with a $100 per person bill, you should go elsewhere- because in the end it is just a local bar.

Excellent food as always. Wasn’t thrilled with the lack of masks on bartenders and cooks during this time, our server did have a face covering. Still top notch food in a relaxed environment.

WAY!! overpriced. ala carte no prices in a dive bar. My meal was $89.00. Not even close to worth it! Beers were $6 for tappers that at any other good bare are $4 to $5 tops. Food was good but not even close to worth it.

Just be aware, no one here wears masks; not the bartender, server or chef. No social distancing of tables either. If you are okay with that you will enjoy your experience. If you are not, I do not recommend you go as the operations will make you uncomfortable.

This was a valentine's dinner for two couples. Outstanding experience. Choosing your food by viewing it in a cooler was outstanding. The food itself was impeccable, the service was above average and we enjoyed ourselves very much. Well done 4th Base!

4th Although it might be well known by locals, we stumbled on it by accident, thanks kto Open Table! Just go up to the deli case and pick out your steak or fish or seafood and all of the sides, and it is prepared right before you! Great food!

Pretty good but extremely expensive food. Very loud buts it’s a bar. I booked it through open table thing it was a steakhouse as that was how it was advertised Very surprised to find it is way more of a sports bar than steakhouse.

No menu and prices charged appear to be random. I’ve been told pricing is very subjective based on a number of factors.

Like I said, food was good but I would not return because $65 for a ribeye is insane.

GTown, Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review and I am glad to read you enjoyed your meal. I hope you keep in mind the next time you look to attend a "steakhouse" the similar quality of food and not judge us on our decor. Our Ribeye is a 1.5lb Bone In Ribeye that will cost you a similar amount anywhere you go for that size and quality of meat, regardless of sides that you order with it. Thank you for dining with us and trying the 4th Base Experience. CJ

It’s a sports bar, covered in vintage sports memorabilia. They serve very minimal food choices and have no menus. The food they serve is al la carte meaning you go to a refrigerated display case and choose your meat and vegetable not many choices, however the food is delish! I picked a jumbo crab leg that was approx 1lb. my wife got a simple grilled chicken breast. Being that there are no menus there are no prices displayed, so we found out that one jumbo crab leg, one chicken breast and two vegetables baked potato and asparagus was $104. For the type of place, location and price I say not again, BUT the food was good and the server was excellent for a local dive bar scene.

Angie, I apologize it has taken me so long to respond. Please keep in mind that we offer the biggest, largest Alaskan King Crab Legs in town. They are not intended to be cheap but intended to be the best. If you both ordered chicken dinners it would not have been that expensive. CJ

Service and chef were awesome. First steak came over cooked but there was no hesitation on their part and the second attempt was perfect. The chef was very apologetic and said no one is leaving this place unhappy, especially on their birthday. I highly recommend. The scallops were some of the best I’ve had.

To start I was not impressed with the 14.00 Bloody Mary, And although the food was very good , ( i/we did not like the fact there is no menu), I and my party of 8 was not a fan of the fact that yes, you can order anything you want and they will make you whatever you crave, you do not know how much your meal is until you get the bill. Which is much higher than the $$ signs on their web site.

We actually did not go in. We were met in the parking lot by who we assume to be the cook and he told us he would have liked a little notice that we would be there. I thought he was kidding at first but then he persisted that he was not expecting us. He seemed a bit intoxicated. I showed him my open table reservation on my phone (while still standing in the parking lot). He said I needed to have spoken to a real person. We told him we would just eat somewhere else. He said no he would make it work. We said we would find another place. He followed us to the car and apologized and said he didn’t mean to run us off. I told him next time he might try saying “welcome” instead of telling us we inconvenienced him. So we never made it into the restaurant and never tried the food. Poor service met us in the parking lot and I honestly feel like we dodged a bullet by not going in.

The atmosphere was just what were looking for! A "divey" type place with great food. No written menu. Just go to the deli cooler and choose. We enjoyed delicious fresh-made oysters Rockefeller, prawns in bacon. Or choose a fresh cut ribeye or Porterhouse! Of course 4 has the usual bar food too. The server and chef are friendly and helpful. Don't miss this place!

The place is basically an older bar. The food was excellent. The service was slow but the place although VERY small was very busy with just one waitress and the manager had to help her. There are no prices on ANYTHING so beware and be sure to ask. We had the portabello with crab appetizers which were outstanding BUT....$25 EACH!!!!!

Cool concept for dining! Pick your food and preparation method. A little pricey. Everything was delicious except the pricing of our crab stuffed portabella mushroom. There was very little crab for a charge of $24- not worth it. Other than that, the scallops were perfectly cooked and everything was delicious.

Revisiting from Texas after 3 years to celebrate my Wife’s Birthday. Chose 4th Base since Bryan, the Chef was still there and treated us with a great meal and great service. Amanda, our Server treated us like Family and the Owner made sure our special dessert request was delivered. It is rare to find this kind of dining experience at any price!

My husband an I had our very first date at the original location many years ago, and would go there often . Took my daughters there to relive the experience.
The burgers were inline with what you would pay at any other place and for the most part were good. we had 6 people in our party and 3 of the orders were wrong and had to be sent back. All of us had the fries but some had cheese sprinkle on them and some did not?
Not really fond of the "NO Price" menu. The food was good but, not worth the price It's ridiculous! Seriously 65-75 for a steak? at a Pub? Who would pay that for a steak at this place?
When asked about the price of the shrimp scampi? the reply was "well it depends upon how many shrimp you want in it". $7.00 per shrimp? Left me to wonder how much the butter and garlic cost.
It doesn't even include any sides.
The waitress was nice but, had trouble answering our questions.. which were not that difficult. We asked the cook about one of the Specials on the board, he couldn't even tell us what it was? He's the guy cooking it.
There is a reason the place only had 2 other customers besides us on a Saturday night.
Sorry 4th Base but you disappointed
