Food and service was outstanding
I took my two sisters, friend and my wife there for the first time. We were going to the brewers game and my sister's birthday. The food was great and the server was very knowledgeable. Everything was served in a timely matter. No complaints at all!!
Thanks for the great time.
This was a little different than I expected. You pick everything you want and he cooks it. Food was very good but pricey. Waitress was outstanding, pleasant and patient.
We were very surprised that this place was a bar setting, no white table cloths as pictured. Would be able to find just as good food without going to Milwaukee!
Would not return, thought food was over priced for location and setting.
The chicken Alfredo was fantastic. The price on the jumbo bacon wrapped shrimp was 8.00 a piece and so was the scallops. When you first walk in its a bar, then they take you back to a little room with a few tables. It was good foo, but because of the prices I would not go back. If it was a fancy place with more choices I would. It was worth trying 1 time. Just make sure you ask the prices before you order since they don't have menus.
Good and fresh food. Unique method used to order. Ridiculously overpriced for both food and drink. Atmosphere of an old corner tavern - fine with me - but priced like a 5 star fine dining establishment.
We were going to a Brewer game and staying at the Best Western. It was on way walking to the game. The service, food and atmosphere were awesome. We stopped after the game and had a drink. Great place
Got there at 10:30 and ordered our food. Some of our party never got there food. Go there for a drink but don't order if your in a hurry to get to a game!!!!
I waked in and thought where is the $50 per person place? It is basically a small whole in the wall that serves the BEST freaking food in Milwaukee! We had the bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp and OMGosh! Then had the cheesesteak with REAL strip steak shaved. Food was awesome as was the service. First place I have given a 20% tip to in a very long time. Definitely be back!
Love the concept of designing your own meal from the cooler behind the glass to Brian asking how you would like it prepared and then cooking it to your exact specs. Just love the atmosphere and concept of something different.
The sports memorabilia surrounding the ENTIRE bar floor to and including the ceiling was remarkable making the conversation fun and energizing. The staff was fun and interesting making for an overall happy night at the bar. The only downside was the exceptionally overpriced bar food. Perhaps a burger and fries would’ve been better priced. I’ve had their Sunday morning omelette and Bloody Mary which are an exceptional value. But the seafood was skimpy, overcooked and overpriced. The haystack onion rings tasted of old oil more than anything else. If you’re looking for a night out drinking and talking sports this is the place. If you want appetizers head anywhere but here.
Absolutely great dinner...a little pricey (it is an ala carte menu), but the freshness and quality of food amazing....
My husband and I went to 4th Base for dinner one night. They have delicious seafood and steaks, however, there are no menus provided because all of their food is made to order. So be careful!! Our bill ended up being over $200 including tip. The next time we stop by will be for drinks only. Very good service though.
Food and staff was amazing!! I deff would come bacj
As always, dinner was excellent. I appreciate the fact that you can "build your own dinner." There is no menu, but you get to choose the number and types of items.
As always delicious food! Brought several friends there for their first time they were impressed with the food. Service was outstanding, very helpful and attentive and we had a larger group.
A friend recommended 4th Base to our group as we traveled to Milwaukee for business. We loved the restaurant, the food and the atmosphere. We will highly recommend 4th Base to anyone traveling to Milwaukee looking for a place to eat, drink, watch sports and have fun!
We love coming here! Food is awesome, you have a little bit of this & a little bit of that. Chef always comes out to talk to you after the meal. Great sports themed bar.
No food menu, you just pick your steak from a meat case. The food was very good, but prices were very very high.
A tad bit on the expensive side! $230 for four people with no drinks. And although they had a good variety of fresh fish I’m not sure it was worth it! In the air If I will return or not
Used Open Table to find a place we had never eaten before. Pleasantly surprised! The unassuming exterior and feel of a corner pub hides a nice selection of steak and seafood which is cooked to order. Definitely a hidden gem.
My family of five went for lunch on a Sunday for my son’s birthday. The creative idea of not having a menu and a customized meal based on your preferences was exciting unfortunately; the food quality did not deliver. My sea bass was inedible - seafood was not fresh, possibly because it was Sunday. Service was fantastic however; ensure you ask market price as everything is ala cart when ordering, for the five of us our bill was close to $500. I am all about paying for a phenomenal meal (even a $500 lunch) however, this was a far cry from phenomenal.
The place is kind of a dump; but that could have been overlooked. The entire staff consisted of a cook, a bartender and 1 waitress. I don't blame them; but staffing was horrible. Management of this establishment aught to be ashamed.
It's a small bar near the VA and stadium that has INCREDIBLE food. You wouldn't know it walking in but you order from the case based on what you see and server recommendations. Not cheap but the food is amazing! We had a great time from the minute we walked in to the moment we left.
Those giving this place low ratings don't understand the value of high quality food and truly gourmet cooking at what's otherwise a dive bar. If you're looking for a place that serves pre-made bar food, like mozzarella sticks and wings, at $5 a pop this isn't your place. If you're looking for a historic bar with tons of atmosphere and fabulous, fresh, well-prepared food, this is your place. We will be back again and again.
We had a great experience at the 4th base. We've never had crab that tasted so good. Great food. The waitress was busy but awesome. We would highly recommend it.
I have to agree with some of the other reviews-4th Base is expensive. The food was good but not outstanding. My meal of perch and vegetables was in the area of $30. Charged $6-7.00 per shrimp. Drinks were also expensive. The staff was great! Would I go back? Maybe for a burger.
The food is always great; love fancy food in a bar setting before a Brewer Game.
I moved out of state 17 years ago and hadn't been back to 4th Base since then, and I remember having great dinners there. I came into town for the US Open and was looking for someplace out of the ordinary to take my husband and our out of town guest. 4th Base popped up on a web search and I was so delighted to see it! My husband and our friend were very surprised at the quality of the food for a place that looks like a corner tap. They loved it and so did I. We will certainly be back again--and I won't wait 17 years! Our waitress, Jenny, was outstanding and really made the experience even more special!
Our waitress and the food prepared by the chef was outstanding. Neighborhood hole in the wall bar, escape to the backroom dining.
great place... no menu as you pick your food from a fresh food display. I ordered 2 plates it was so good. I am very picky.. great place at very reasonable prices. get your drinks before you to the game and pay 3 times more.
Great food, fun waitress and excellent customer service. Had lunch before a Brewers game and will definitely be back.
Had a really nice Mother's Day brunch. Food was delicious (especially the crab benedict). However, it took a long time (1 hour) to get food but they have a tiny kitchen and it was a busy day. Service was great...server kept giving us updates on our order. My only complaint is no menu or prices and the bill was much higher than I anticipated.
Everything was great except for the "kiddie cocktail" my 7 year old had that was loaded with tequila. Didn't really get an apology for it which was upsetting.
Extremely overpriced. Ask for pricing prior to ordering.
Wonderful service, the bartender and waitress were extremely welcoming and helpful. The food was second to none! Fantastic fresh selections of just about anything! Highly recommended.
It seems a bit of a strange fit. A casual neighborhood sports bar that offers fine dining selections at fine dining prices. The staff were very upfront, helpful and friendly. Wonderful choices of quality meat cuts and a fresh seafood selection My sister was very pleased with the Chilean Sea Bass while I savored the tender braised sea scallops. If you'd prefer to skip the dress and sport coat and watch a game or two on the big screens while treating yourself to a fine meal, then this is the spot.
We met for a college reunion and it was the perfect spot to gather. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The food was very good and they were very attentive to everyone's needs. We had been to the original location in the early '80's in Piggsville and this location was just as good.
Think of combing a Morton's Steakhouse with your favorite neighborhood sports bar (in fact Major League was filmed here). They have a deli case where they display the finest steaks, scallops, shrimp, and veggies. You can pick your preparation (i.e., grilled, fried, broiled), which I love, because I am a healthy eater. I had the shrimp and scallops grilled and green beans and the meal was fantastic. Jennifer, the hostess and our server, was amazing. Super friendly, personable, helpful and provide great service. Brian, the cook, was also awesome, and cooked our meal to perfection! They have multiple t.v.s so you can watch sports, and the ambience is cozy and warm. Everything was wonderful and we would definitely go back. Just be prepared to bring your wallet. 2 shrimp and scallop dinners with veggie and 3 beers was $114.00. Fine dining in a sports bar atmosphere. It doesn't get any better.
Way over-priced for what you get, quinoa was too garlicky/salty, one steak was way over-done and had to be sent back, 1 crableg as an appetizer was $60.00! The red wine was really warm and pretty bad. Will not go back. Perhaps the reataurant is resting on an old reputation that doesn't exist any more. Our waiter was very accomodating but had too many tables/people to take care of.
