Diners at all MFA restaurant locations pay regular Museum admission, and can visit for free on Wednesday evenings and during Community Celebrations.
First time at 465 for a preconcert dinner. Service was attentive and all staff was friendly. Very quiet with few diners since it was early, 5 pm. Only complaint was that the rolls were very stale. Otherwise food was delicious and beautifully plated.
My husband and I went for Sunday lunch between visiting exhibits at the MFA. This is a peaceful restaurant, and nice place for conversation, or meeting friends. The menu is short, but most people should find something they like. (I had the chicken paillard on salad - freshly cooked, tender and healthy, if not too imaginative, while my husband had the individual quiche, also freshly cooked.) The service was outstanding.
An evening at the MFA is a delight. The food at 465 Bistro is very good. Oddly, the service was not, though the servers were pleasant and well-meaning. For example, dinner was rushed with the main course brought out before we were close to finishing our appetizers, which meant chaos on the table.
I went to the 465 Bar and Restaurant for brunch before a lecture at 2:00. The atmosphere and ambiance is lovely and perfect for a Sunday afternoon. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and personable. My only reason for lowering my scores for this restaurant is the food: I ordered Crab Benedict--basically Eggs Benedict with crab instead of Canadian bacon. The English muffins were thin, topped with eggs and a very small pile of crab, and placed on a huge pile of baby spinach that overwhelmed the dish. The crab seemed to be from a can rather than fresh. We ordered a side of roasted potatoes that were good.
They changed from the old restaurant that was there - to tell the truth, the food from the old
restaurant was much better. It is still a great option to go toan exhibit and then go upstairs to
eat 0 you don't have to move your car, etc. I will continue to go there but hopefully they will
upgrade their food.
This was the perfect place to relax and have a nice light meal before a concert. The service was wonderful, plenty of space between tables so we could carry on a conversation without others listening. It was nice to be in a restaurant where we didn't have to speak loudly to hear each other. The server was so attentive and very sweet. We will be back!

Although we were surprised by the brunch menu presented on a Sunday, we're glad we stayed. The meal was excellent. Service was attentive. Lovely venue.
465 Bar and Restaurant was a very soothing experience in the Boston Museum of Fine Art. The beet salad and artic char were delicious. The ambiance is very cool and it was a great time!
We enjoyed everything about our extended lunch here on a quiet Friday afternoon. The service, food, and drinks were all fabulous, and the atmosphere invites one to linger and relax for as long as one likes.
We'll be sure to make this a part of our next museum visit!

Excellent restaurant. One of best in Boston for ambience, food and comfort. And having great art around to see before and after a meal is marvelous x
Food was delicious and service was spectacular. Drinks were great. Only issue was the very limited menu options.
Because it was Valentine's Day, and we made a late reservation, we were in the less plush part of the dining room - usually dedicated to meetings and large groups - but the nighttime view into the lighted courtyard was pleasant. The video art in that space, which had been on the last time I was there, was turned off, and that was disappointing. One of the best features of 465 is that it is comfortably quiet. It was possible to have a relaxed conversation.
Sweet pepper soup was pleasant, although the caviar garnish didn't come through to me as much of a flavor. The pate was excellent, with perfect accompaniments. I thought the lobster fettuccine was disappointing, primarily because the fettuccine was overcooked.
Despite that criticism, this is one of my favorite venues for dinner and conversation. A bonus on that frigid Friday was a short, indoor walk to an interesting movie - or, in this case, a goofy one, "The Princess Bride."
We chose small plates to experience as much as possible. Gorgeous presentation, very tasty combinations. Beets and artichokes were great. The scallops were excellent, though $16 for 4 scallops seemed like a lot. Duck breast was good -- it did not stand out like the others.
The dessert we shared was excellent.

Although the service was oddly slow and stilted the mushroom bisque and roasted cauliflower were fabulous. The roasted eggplant was bland and unremarkable. Gorgeous dining room.
We loved the food. We had two small plates and one large plate between the two of us and enjoyed the presentation and the flavors of everything we ate. The food was interesting, colorful and carefully combined to bring out the very interesting combination of flavors in each dish. The amount of food was just right for the two of us. The accompanying session beer and sparkling rose were lovely. Service was good and the space is quieter than most restaurants, wonderful for those of us who enjoy conversation without competition. We will return for sure.
I love this place, but liked the old name,"BRAVO" better as 465 is harder to remember!
Usually super quiet and love banquettes and art viewing ahead of time. Was an event when we were there, but sat away from it, so not bothersome. Food very good!
This is the fifth time we’ve come. It’s excellent and improving upon itself. The small plates are inventive and delicious. Keep it going! The wine prices are very reasonable. I just wish there was more variety. There’s more to life than Cabernet, although I have seen some movement to diversify.
Quite place for a business diner. Highly recommend for serious discussions.
I met a good friend for lunch and a leisurely stroll through the MFA over the recent holiday weekend and was delighted with 465 Bar & Restaurant. As a new member, it's nice to know that there are a variety of options for dining at the MFA and we both found the setting to be quite relaxing, the service was great and the food was tasty.
It was my first time trying uncooked butternut squash spirals and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was (crisp, sweet, refreshingly good). However there were not any pearl onions served with it.
The scallop skewers were also delicious, but they were out of kumquats. The only thing that was substandard was the greeting when we arrived...the woman who seated us wasn't warm and friendly at all.
A 1st class dining experience inside the Museum of Fine Arts. Staff & Chef were very attentive & accommodating. Diverse menu with vegetarian & vegan options. Delicious!

The service was fantastic and the food was very good. There wasn't as much selection on the menu as there had been when it was Bravo, but what they had was good. I thought it was a little pricey, but considering it's inside a museum, not unexpected.
The food out of the kitchen was fabulous. The only issue was the rushed delivery of entrees, well before we were ready for them. The manager said that she would talk to her staff about this.

Located in the Museum of Fine Arts 465 Bar and Restaurant provides an inviting opportunity for a relaxing meal of excellent quality. After visiting the Nubia Exhibit my adult daughter and I went for cocktails and dinner. The atmosphere is very pleasant and it is quiet enough (not too quiet) for conversation. We enjoyed excellent craft cocktails and sampled a wide selection of small plates. All were very good, we particularly enjoyed the mushroom bisque and the chorizo risotto. A delicious flourless chocolate cake topped off the meal. Our waiter - though confessing to be new - was excellent. He was properly attentive while leaving us time to enjoy our meal. He knew the menu well and was able to answer any questions we had. This is a great place to top off a visit to one of the best museums in the U.S.
465 is quiet and elegant, a truly unique Boston place to dine offering a peaceful setting. The service is always good and food is delicious. The brunch menu could have used some lighter options, but all was well prepared and excellent.
My wife and I had our adult daughters join us for Friday night dinner after they finished work - one arrived late and our server didn’t skip a beat; he seamlessly caught her up with us. Was a lovely meal.
My one suggestion is having the museum bring in some of the collection into the dining space. Possibly rotating some of the more unique items from time to time.
Both our lunch entrees were excellent—mushroom bisque and grilled salmon with salad. Pleasant uncluttered decor, good and courteous service. We recommended this restaurant for years under the old Bravo label and will revisit and recommend the new 465 with equal enthusiasm.
Lovely meal. Good food, unobtrusive but efficient service. 6 of us were able to talk and laugh and enjoy ourselves and the meal. Recommended if you're visiting the MFA and want a relaxing, delicious meal after.
Our first visit to what had previously been Bravo - a restaurant we had frequented regularly on evening trips to the MFA. Will just start by saying the food was good. Selection is not huge, as might be expected given the surroundings, the basis for why people might find themselves there, and the likely requirement to pay attention to holding the line on operating costs. A small selection of tapas plates and a small selection of main courses. We went w several tapas plates. For those familiar w Bravo, this is arranged very similarly, but, and I think this is a mark in the negative column, even more sterile and w less color. Everything that I remember seeing is beige. The spacing between tables is generous - really generous in my opinion, as in lotsa open space. Our one concrete issue was w service. All service people seemed very well-intentioned. The problem was not that no one cared. My assessment of the problem was that no one was offering guidance (do more of this less of that), direction, or oversight. Perhaps as operations settle in this will improve.
We loved having dinner at 465 with friends! It was great fun to peruse a few fabulous museum exhibits, take a break for a leisurely, yet well-curated dinner, and then get back out there, revived and refreshed for another exhibit. The food was absolutely delicious and creative, and the wait staff was attentive and helpful. The wines were all spot on, and our server was kind enough to bring over a sample before deciding on one. The newly done decor is quietly sophisticated, modern, and beautiful. The atmosphere is perfect for folks like us who actually enjoy a hip, but subdued scene, instead of the loud clanging vibe found at many hip spots in town. The one suggestion we have is that it would be even more intimate and elegant if the lighting were turned down a notch, and candlelight was added at the tables. All in all, it was a lovely experience!
We liked everything about our experience at 465. Five of us sat comfortably in a lovely booth, more open than most conventional ones. We had appetizers, the most outstanding of which were clams with pesto and sun dried tomatoes. Our entrees were delicious as was the dessert we shared. The service was excellent and given how quiet this restaurant is, we were all able to easily converse. It was one of the most relaxing dinners out I've had in a long time.
The food was excellent. We had lunch. My nephew had the lentil mushroom burger with sriracha chips, which he said was excellent. I had a trio of small plates - portabella mushroom soup, roasted cauliflower, and risotto, all of which were excellent. We were seated at a booth in the bar area, and the service was a little slow. Luckily, we were not in a rush. Ambiance was excellent - fairly quiet, comfortable seating.
Our second visit and will go again when we are next in Boston. Comfortable, quiet spot to enjoy a fabulous selection of small plates. Service and management excellent!
It was a lovely setting to enjoy time with friends and delicious food. I’ll be back!
