We serve classic American fare with an emphasis on Southern traditions. Like many of our favorite Southern cooks who came before us, we are inspired to build on this culinary foundation with new innovations every season. We are proud to bring a variety of fresh, high-quality food to the Nashville community, as we have for eleven years and counting. We love to draw on the bounty of ingredients produced in Middle Tennessee, and we buy local whenever possible. Nashville bakery Provence provides all our sandwich breads, and our famous house blend coffee is fair trade and organic.

Such a wonder ambiance. The wait staff was outstanding and it was obvious great care was taken in preparing our food. Everyone loved their meals.
Restaurant was not crowded yet it still took over 2 hours to get in and out of there for lunch. Over 45 minutes to get appetizers. They said their kitchen was backed up but we didn’t understand why because again, it wasn’t crowded. They didn’t seem very concerned about the terrible service either. After all if that, the food was not great. The chicken club tasted very off and I didn’t eat most of it.
We chose 417 Union pre-TPAC-event based on the recommendation of a friend, so perhaps just caught them on a bad night. Our waitress was very, very sweet but overwhelmed and not well trained -- and committed the cardinal sin of table service by putting someone else's dirty dishes down on our table while she took our order. Then she dropped those same plates, splattering us with salad dressing (but, things happen and she was apologetic and there was a quick clean up so not really complaining about that -- just setting the scene for what wasn't a comfortable experience overall). Our dinner salads were great and served quickly...but before we were even halfway finished with those here came our entrees out of the kitchen, a real pet peeve of mine, I'll admit. I ordered the fried chicken and the chicken breast had two bites of meat on it. The crust was crunchy and well seasoned and I could see why the fried chicken gets good reviews, but the pieces I was served were all crust, no meat. The mashed potatoes were dry and tepid. I thought the meal might be saved by the banana pudding but it was overly sweet and did not taste homemade. My husband got the chicken fried steak and was pretty happy with his meal but also though the pudding was awful. When the bill came we had to agree that the total was far too high for the quality of the food, ambiance and service experience (and we have no problem going out for expensive meals if they are worth it!). I wanted to love this little place, but it just wasn't their night.
Order the biscuits!1 they are amazing. The bloody Mary’s are great too.
Good food & service in a fun historic restaurant! Definitely make reservations. Uber if you aren’t in walking distance and enjoy!
I had high hopes for this restaurant but was disappointed. It’s located pretty conveniently near the downtown attractions, it’s hipster cute inside. We had a 5:30 reservation and were seated immediately, and our server greeted us quickly. I ordered a dinner platter of ham, southern green beans, and cornbread stuffing. It was served lukewarm, the ham was a thin , uniformly oval slice of what appeared and tasted to be highly processed ham. The beans were tasty but had 4 large thick stems in the mix. The stuffing was served as a scoop so was a dense blob. Biggest peeve, there was a cold stale roll served with it; i saw many plates go by with biscuits. I was told they serve what they have at the time; I guess they start the biscuit baking when they open and till they are ready you get a packaged roll. The banana pudding was all cookie barely moistened with pudding, also a dense scoop. I think the breakfast here is supposed to be popular but dinner was a bust especially for the high price.
We loved everything about this place. The avocado toast, the brioche french toast were outstanding. I especially loved the Peanut Butter Whiskey Cream Brulee...outstanding.
Restaurant was not as nice as I expected. Food was average and coffee was cold!
Great over all dinner, home style meals but prepared very well!
Waiter completely screwed up our checks, not very helpful in fixing them.
A hidden gem when you don’t want to deal with the crazy of all the popular Nashville restaurants and you just want some good food this is the place !! We didn’t even need the reservation we just walked in was seated immediately and had the best meal we ate the entire weekend - service was great and price was fair
Great place! Food was excellent and our server Asia was excellent. Will recommend to all family and friends.
WE chose this for a big breakfast before a day of honky tonks and it was amazing. Every dish we ordered was right on point. HIghly recommended!
Great little bar with great food. Highly recommend to anyone
We were looking for a place away from Broadway and this place was rated high on OpenTable. The food was very good. The catfish fillets were pretty small but the quality was great. It’s a small place and doesn’t hold a ton of people so the noise level was very low.
Food was indifferent, service was excellent
Excellent restaurant within walking distance to the hustle of Broadway. Food was amazing, service was outstanding and we would definitely visit again. Highly recommend a visit to this little gemstone.
Atmosphere, food and drinks were great. Pricing was good but a tad high. Service was slow as it seems they only had two servers working with a full restaurant on a Friday night.
As’a was the best waitress ever !!! Great place with awesome food!!
Excellent food off the beaten path. Small and quaint. Excellent service and selection. Full bar.
Food was excellent and service was on point!
While service was fine, most of the food ordered by 4 of us was terrible. Fried chicken was so dry it was almost inedible. Country fried steak was tough @ tasteless. The Greek salad was awful; chicken dry, feta cheese impossible to find. My sister said it was worse salad she ever had. The fish & chips were rated as very good as was cole slaw.
We had a reservation, but we had to wait for a table with all the walk-ins.
What's the point of OpenTable or "taking" reservation if you don't hold a table???
Would not recommend unless your time has no value.
The food was fantastic! This is a little hidden gem !
Excellent Southern cooking and service!
It was ok, service was good, needs a food presentation boost! It was just ok! They sent us upstairs into an empty dining room would of rather had a booth on the first floor!
Nice breakfast menu. The waffle was light and tasty.
Seemed like a favorite local spot.
Wonderful southern food! Had the fried fish and red beans and mashed potatoes and it was just like sitting down to my grandmother's dinner table. And the service was exceptional. I'll be back!
Good food and great service.
Food was fair. Had to send part back because it was cold.
Disappointed with the overall experience after fighting to find parking...
Such a fun little “dive” with delicious country food😋
We celebrated my husband’s 50th birthday in Nashville and his family came from different parts of the US to surprise him. It was important to have a place where we hear each other the first night in Nashville and just have some time to catch up. 417 was the perfect place! The food was so good and the ambiance was perfect. In fact we loved it so much several of us came back for brunch on Sunday! I highly recommend 417. The service was so good! Leslie and Mike were fantastic and made sure we had everything we needed. Both visits were exceptional!
Great little place. The waiter was so gracious and super friendly. Would go again.
The food is good but I think the prices are high and the portions are ok.
Great breakfast in a very historic building. Nothing fancy, but great breakfast.
Menu had great variety. The fried green blt was fabulous! We had a party of 12 and no push back with separate tabs.. would definitely come back
Love the food. Delicious and at a great price. Service was excellent.
Excellent food for a wonderful Southern style breakfast. Excellent service and best Bloody Marys in Nashville.
Great food, accommodating staff - would highly recommend.
