   It's too expensive since the food isn't great. If I'm going to spend that amount of money on a meal I want to be impressed. We were sadly disappointed.

   Food was not a good experience. The steaks were thin, the salmon was half the size of a deck of cards, the brussel sprouts were mushy, the drinks were small for the price. There was one other table in there and the bar and kitchen took forever for food and drinks. For the high price of the menu and drinks I expect way more. One of the worst meals I have had out n a long time.

   I was in town visiting family on a Friday night with a 6:30 reservation. The place was empty. Our waitress took forever to address the table and we noticed a variety of things that were off. We had the wrong menus, our water glasses didn't get filled. We waited even longer to order drinks. My party ordered a few glasses of the house white. It took 40 minutes for them to get the wine. 40 minutes. we noticed a few other tables that had arrived also had the same thing going on. No service, so ordering, nothing. Eventually we were able to order and got water. Overall the food was fine, but the experience left us with a bad taste. The sad part here is that they left so much money on the table. They could have sold way more beverages but there simply wasn't the service.

   The 40 day wet aged New York strip was not worth the price. Was tough even though cooked as ordered (med rare). The filet is butterflied and not wrapped in bacon so it was dry (med). The brussels sprouts were good and cooked well. I do like the atmosphere when we were there (not many tables seated). It would be hard to carry on a conversation if they were at capacity. Our server was very nice, easy to understand and very helpful. Overall, I'm glad I went the one time to experience 40 North. That being said I will not go back unless it's for just a quick burger and a beer. If you are wanting a good steak I would look elsewhere.

   The waitress did a good job, but seemed too busy to provide great service. My steak was terrible and they didn’t charge me for it. The food took forever and it wasn’t even that busy. The beer was cold though.

   Medium well 7 oz. beef filet came well done and appeared to have been tenderized..? Only about 1cm thick with multiple dimples.. replacement came cooked medium rare and over twice as thick..? Two other steaks in party ordered came over cooked as well.

    Amazing food, pretty darn pricey. There were only a couple other sat tables when I arrived, and it still took 2 hours to get our food. I could tell mine had been under a heat lamp for quite some time (hot plate). I feel like their kitchen could use some more practice.

    We have eaten here on several occasions but this visit was the worst. Our server apparently had never opened a bottle of wine as I had to ask her to remove the foil before inserting the corkscrew. The bruschetta was created with stale, untoasted bread. I requested my steak to be rare but it was medium well to well done. When I requested a replacement, it was medium to medium well done. When you are paying $36 for a steak and one side dish, it should be prepared to the customer's request. A very disappointing evening. I hope this was a one-off night due to the chef being away.

    We arrived at 7:30 for our reservation. We were not greeted at the door for 10 minutes. We waited over an hour and a half for appetizers. Our drinks were incorrect. We never received food after finally deciding to pay for our drinks and appetizers at 9:45 pm. We went to Chicken Coop which was close by. They were out of multiple menu items, our server told us they went to the store to buy pasta, the police arrived to escort another guest out bc they were so upset about not receiving their food. The manager never came out, just our server in tears apologizing. What manager sends his staff out to deal with guest instead of coming to talk to us!?’ We went for my birthday dinner and it was ruined. I called the day after to speak with a manager and ask for my $93.00 bill to be returned because it ruined my Birthday. The bill was still $93.00 for three appetizers. The mojitos that were ordered didn’t even have mint. When we asked for mint the server brought out four small leaves instead of remaking the drinks. They did not offer any compensation and I would NEVER go back again. Next time I will drive the 30 minutes to Hastings to go to Odyssey.

    Ambiance is absolutely beautiful! Way too beautiful for the quality of food and service that you will receive. Our food was cold, not what we ordered, burnt. Hard to believe that something can be burnt and then cold. Service was super slow. 3 hours to have a meal. I mean I am all for relaxing but this is ridiculous. When I spoke to the manager about our concerns, he was very defensive and told me to try hiring people when all they want to do is sit home and collect stimulus checks. Ia m the customer so I don't see how this is my problem. His voice was raised and then he threw a $10 git card at me and my friend and told us to try it again in 3 weeks. My friend left her gift card and said she would never be back. I asked the manager to calm down and told him that he didn't need to throw the card at me. I didn't ask for a discount. He asked how the meal was and I was simply providing my feedback. There is NO need for this type of behavior. Don't ask a question if you don't want to hear the answer! Too bad because this place is beautiful and could have so much potential.

    The food was great..... but... we went from one server to another and kind of had to start over. We had dietary needs, (gluten, sugar, etc) and the server that we ended up with made several trips to talk to the cook, (chef) to see about ingredients. As we placed our order, the server came back 3.... THREE times to tell us about food that they were out of. A certain kind of chicken, baked sweet potatoes and salmon. 3, THREE of the items that were a part or a side on our orders. After an hour of our reservation time, our order was finally placed. 30 minutes later our food arrived. The food was great. We had an 8 year old child with us and this is just too long to have to wait. The "manager?" came over and acted as though it were out fault that the order was so long to be finally sent to the kitchen. It was a frustrating time spend when we wanted to just have a special dinner. Training is needed and information given to the servers if certain items are not available needs to be passed on. I would recommend if these items could be taken care of.

    We dined here months ago and the food was so amazing then. We were so excited to come back. This time, it was like a completely different restaurant. Absolutely no flavor. It was like the recipes had been changed. Definitely not worth the prices. We also waited forever for our food even though the restaurant was less than 3/4 full. We won't go back again. With prices like theirs, they can't afford an off night.

    We arrived early for our reservation and it was suggested we go to the bar and wait until it was closer to our reservation time and the host would come get us. 40 minutes later and 10 minutes past our original reservation time we checked on our table, at which point we were told a table was being prepared for us. Back to the bar to wait. Several minutes later, we had still not been retrieved so we proceeded back to the entry way of main restaurant at which time we were seated and waited on immediately. Food was good and server was good.

    Very disappointed in this establishment as there was a lack of hospitality and service was very poor. Upon heading to the restaurant, we made a phone call to check with the reservation and the staff, including the manager, was VERY rude and sarcastic in regards to our requests for dinner. Reservations were made far in advance, yet we did not get seated until 30 minutes after the reservation time and kept having to remind the staff of our reservation. The menu was limited on food choices for a restaurant that considers itself as "fine dining" and was falsely advertised that way. A menu was sent to us prior with food options completely different than what they were offering which was more bar food type. We were put at a table in the corner and were forgotten about. We waited 40 minutes for our food which showed up cold. The ribeye was a poor cut and also burnt. The price we paid was too much for what the food and service was worth. Highly disappointed in our first overall experience of this establishment and will not go there again not recommend to anyone.

    First, We were seated at the bar when we arrived 10 min. before our reservation. Advised we should order a drink, pay for it then he would seat us. After we paid for our drink, we were seated at a table, less than 10 ft. away which had been empty the entire time. Milking the bar tip??? Also our last visit the smoked Manhattan was delivered in a small glass container filled with smoke. That night is was in glass, smoke stayed in the container the drink was mixed in. We were surprised and disappointed at the limited menu. We ordered a New York steak and a Rib Eye. We received 2 Rib Eye steaks, identical in size and shape. The Rare steak was almost medium. Cooked more than ordered. Food was acceptable, just a bit disappointing, More of a nice Bar and Grill than the Upscale Restraints we expected for the money we spent.

    Service was great. Food was extremely sub-par for the price. Menu was very limited and not as advertised on the internet. Ribeye was merely a charred piece of beef with no flavor. My baked potato had been sitting for quite some time, and had become gummy inside. I believe they were cooked much earlier in the day for the the Valentine’s Day rush. I’ve had far better steak at other establishments in town, for a fraction of the cost. Someone in the back was yelling “food looks fabulous guys”, perhaps in an attempt to be a cheerleader. However, it only looked good, and tasted terrible which was a huge disappointment since our bill for two people was $120.00. Drinks were good and the overall ambiance of the place is good too. Shame the food is not that good, and very expensive. I think that “fine dining” is a bit of a stretch. We will not go back.

    We were disappointed in the new menu. Our meal was ok, but I think they are overpriced for the quality of the food. Our poor server was so busy as they seemed to be understaffed. The other waiter had a mask on but his nose was uncovered the entire time and he only had it over his mouth a couple times. They have a nice atmosphere, but I prefer other restaurants over this one.

    Music was too loud, why remove the fireplace? That was a nice feature. The limited menu leaves much to be desired, bar staff was in a horrible mood and had an even worse attitude. Too much "easy to prepare" fried food on the menu...I am guessing you are missing a chef? My seafood alfredo dish was good, the other 4 Adults with me hated their meals...flavorless and uninspired.. The server "Dakota??" was good, she seemed experienced. No one greeted me at the door/entrance, I stood there for awhile before anyone even looked at me or walked over...

    The food was great, amazing flavor. However the menu was very limited to a few items and they had run out of one of the items. Service was ok, the waitress was very green but she worked hard. It wasn’t very busy, however it took a long time for our food to arrive. Drinks were good and the food was hot a full of flavor, so overall a good experience.

    The selection of the menu is very small. You can either have a steak, burger, or an appetizer. I ordered the 40 day aged steak and it was a poor cut of meat and not tender at all. Cool place to drink beer but not so much for the meals.

    We came in at 6:00 PM on a Saturday night. One guest with us ordered a Miller Lite and was told they were out. When it came time to order, the same guest ordered a chicken fried steak, was told out of that as well. We were already disappointed by the very limited menu when I had looked at it online earlier that day and had my heart set on the scallops only to find out we could have a burger, chicken sandwich or steak. My steak was the sirloin cap and it was tough with a line of gristle down one whole side and I could barely chew it. I expected better for almost $30 For this being considered a more upscale restaurant, I have to say I have had better steak at places like the Chicken Coop and Kitty's sports bar in Hastings for a better price. I understand that COVID has had an impact on things but restaurants are at full capacity now so I would think there would be better menu and also needs updated online. Had I seen the limited menu before hand, we probably would not have drove to GI to eat there.

    Not upscale dining as advertised, waited 5-10min to be greeted, went to bar before we were seated waited 5-10min before asked what we wanted to drink, they forgot about us at the bar the bartender had to remind then we were waiting for a table, limited menu you could either have fried food or a steak. Should be advertised as a sports bar.

    The current menu is NOTHING like the menu listed on their website. We drove 30 minutes from out of town because we were drawn by the eclectic menu with interesting pasta and seafood. Got there to find out there were only a few steaks, a burger and a chicken sandwich. Apparently the chef had walked out recently and no one else knew how to cook. Should at least change the website menu to indicate what the limited offerings REALLY are. I ended up with only a side salad....husband had a steak. His brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes were good. Doubt we will be back.

    I had planned this birthday celebration for a while and was very exited to travel from Kearney and meet my family who were in town from MN to try 40 North for the first time. The menu available online showed a wonderful selection of entrées that would suite my families varying tastes and dietary restrictions. Upon being seated and opening the menu, we were shocked to see only steaks and sandwich options available. After asking why none of the options listed in the online menu were listed despite still being available to order online for pickup, we were told that the kitchen staff had walked out the week prior and only food items that could be prepared by line cooks would be available. This was most irritating since we drove an hour just to dine at 40 North and only because of the menu options listed on the website. Why were we not contacted prior to our reservation and made aware of the change to the menu? Why was the website menu not updated or taken down? As if this were not bad enough, after deciding to make due with the limited options rather than trying to find another place to eat during dinner rush on a Saturday night an hour away from home, our food was terrible. The mushrooms we ordered were icy cold in the middle. A new order was offered but did not come out until 15 minutes after the entrees were served and were cold in the middle again this time. The meals were bland comparable to cafeteria quality food. If the owner had any respect for their customers and servers, they should have closed the restaurant until it was properly staffed to offer a quality dining experience rather than subjecting them to just a miserable evening. I felt so terrible for our server who was trying her best but had clearly been hung out to dry by the ownership. I would recommend the remaining staff walk out this week and go to work for someone who has some dignity and respect for their staff and community.

    The restaurant is going through some changes with staff, especially the chef and the menu is completely different than what is featured online. We loved 40 North prior to Christmas. Our steak was cooked well done and the mashed potatoes were dry and cold. In addition, the menu featured bar-like food. Cheese curds, hot dogs, chicken sandwich, etc. Nothing that was featured on the online menu was actually available for purchase. Some suggestions for the management team would be to make guests aware of the transition the restaurant is going through including a limited menu, hiring more chefs, etc. Had we known this was the current state of the restaurant, we would have never gone there and spent $100 + for dinner. I hope they can get back on their feet because this type of restaurant is something Grand Island needs. The staff was friendly, the drinks were good and I understand struggling but communication is key, especially if you want returning guests. Fingers crossed for 40 North!

    This restaurant has changed a lot since opening. We used to love going there. Our last experience we were given a wobbly table, the wrong menus, and it took over an hour for our food to be prepared. We were only 2 of the 7 people in the whole restaurant. Food was good but then I got an upset stomach an hour later. Very disappointing since this used to be a favorite of ours.

    We made reservations online, a week before. Had a few update emails if we needed to change or add people to reservation. We were on our way when received a call from Katie, just noticed we had a reservation but kitchen was under maintenance. But we could come for drinks. You need to update website, it was for a Birthday, threw away gift card. Poor Service

    We were seated up front rather than the dining room. It was ok, just seemed more like a sports bar. Food was great. Seemed understaffed as the 2 servers were running to keep up and barely had time to take our order.let alone answer any questions. It was our first visit but we didn’t have trouble getting a reservation. Will be back as the food was good.
