4 Bells Ratings and Reviews
For our entree we shared the special: a whole black sea bass with bacon and shallots, sweet potato puree and green beans, and a side of brussel sprouts. All were excellent! Our baby octopus appetizer was good, but a little tough. Servers were prompt and helpful.
The service was exceptional. Very knowledgeable and addressed all questions quickly.
The food was very good. We got the scallops, fried snapper, and an app and some side dishes to share.
We sat at the equivalent of a high top bar table. There wasn't a ton of room between tables, but the background noise kind of cancelled out any loud nearby conversations.
It was a fun night, but I don't know if it was worth it. The scallop dish was over $30 and we got a total of 3 scallops. The fried snapper was very good and more worth the price.
We had a delightful time. The menu was broad and enticing. Our server was helpful and charming. The food was uniformly excellent. And the whole ambiance was warm and fun. We checked out the upstairs and the balcony on our way out. Can’t wait to go back to any of the restaurnant’s multiple dining areas.
Last time my husband & I were there , it was a totally different menu. More of a Southern cuisine. We really liked that so when we invited some friends we were expecting that and were a bit disappointed all those former options were gone. The new menu was ok but not spectacular for choices. Miss the fried chicken & biscuits. Also the place did not seem as vibrant.
Small cramped table right next to the kitchen. Appetizer came out right away. 53 min wait for entrees after order was taken. Didn’t make a big deal about it. But should have. A free drink or desert should have been offered. Was a Saturday night but really wasn’t that busy. Really confused and probably won’t go back. Need more for the money
The interior was tasteful and elegant. Our server Susan was absolutely delightful and patient with all our questions. The good was delicious and we were all satisfied with our orders. The rainbow trout was great and the shellfish were fresh. I had pear pavlova for dessert and it exceeded my expectations. Overall a great experience and would definitely come back again.
We met friends there for an evening for a performance at the nearby Basilica. We were all so happy with our meals, service, and overall experience. Very attentive and polite wait staff, tasty cocktails, and delicious food. We all commented on how it was so nice to have a meal without the music blasting so loud that you can't even have a conversation, and not a TV in sight! We will definitely go back there.
sat at booth in the bar area, was cozy and not too loud. service was fantastic from start to finish! server gave great suggestions, drinks and started came immediately. we had calamari, peel and eat shrimp and snapper civeche. Civeche was just ok, rest was great. Halibut entree and nightly dish special (tile fish) were wonderful. steak was great, though I think overpriced. overall, a great experience and delish food and drinks!!
Several of us had the halibut amd it was over done. Since that happened they came out with dessert that they did not charge us for. The rest of the food was very good. Dessert were wonderful. Overall it was a very nice restaurant and I would go back to the restaurant.
The food is divine...
The beet burrata salad was full of flavor. The tomato tart was delicious, the tomatos bursting with flavor. The scallops were cooked to perfection, tender, lovely texture. The plantain/mango/curry sauce was the perfect complement to the scallops and seasoned just right. The cauliflower was nothing special. The servers were very friendly and helpful with suggestions. It was a busy night and we did wait for our food, but when things go wrong – the staff made it right, giving us complementary dishes for having to wait. We will be back!
After my first dining experience at 4 Bells about two months ago I was dying to make another visit. I am from San Diego and have struggled to find great seafood in Minneapolis, but now have a new favorite spot. Not only is the food incredible, but our servers on both occasions were well versed in the menu and gave great recommendations. I don't typically do dessert, but after being blown away by our appetizers and dinner (tuna poke, oysters, halibut, and snapper) we had to top off the experience. We will visit again as soon as possible!
Went to 4 Bells for 20 year anniversary. The food was terrific, but a bit noisy for conversation. Also, pricing was top level and it's easy to exceed $100 per person if you order wine or drinks. Would go back for another special occasion, but too pricey to eat there regularly.
We three friends been celebrating birthdays together for 30 years. 4Bells is among our favorites. Our reservation was at 5:00. We arrived about ten minutes before the restaurant opened and were welcomed in anyway. We were told the kitchen is “ready.” We ordered the scallops, the market prep salmon, Brussels sprouts and dutchess potatoes to share. The food was great and the service, too. Adam was terrific! He explained the dishes well, was attentive but didn’t rush us, and a birthday dessert was “on him.” Noise level was good, probably because we were so early 😉. A very pleasant experience!
This was my second time at Four Bells. It is literally one block across the park from where I live, and within walking distance. I’m so glad to see it thriving. We were there on a Friday night and it was very busy. I had no idea how big it is inside with lots of dining rooms. We were seated by the food line pick up and it was very interesting to watch. Not being a seafood aficionado, I questioned my choice after looking at the menu. It ended up being great. My partner had the top sirloin and I had the brick chicken, both excellent choices. Most notable were the side dishes, the garlic pull apart a that melt in your mouth with a subtle note of garlic. Also, the wild rice salad. Dessert was a pear pavlova that was amazing.
Only request would be to have a few more reasonably priced wines.
We were treated with a lot of respect and courtesy throughout our evening. The entire staff was fantastic. The venue was very busy and with good reason. Our party of eight had seven different entrees. The Brick Chicken and Pheasant getting the strongest comments. One entree was not to the liking of one guest and was quickly traded out for another. Thanks to them for being a part of a great evening.
I was very disappointed with my experience at 4 Bells. I read reviews online ahead of time that mentioned the noise level was pretty high, so I called ahead and asked if we could be sat in a quieter section, and the host assured me we were. When we got there, we were put at a table by the bar right next to the kitchen, it was so loud, and there was a VERY loud group right next to us, it was a big party of about 10 people. I thought since I had called ahead it was very poor planning of the host to seat us next to such a big party AND right next to the kitchen. Also, the food was VERY expensive. It was good but I don't think it warranted the prices. We did oyster flights too, and three out of the four oysters I got were the smallest oysters I'd ever seen. SO not worth the $16 that each flight cost. I had heard good things about 4 Bells so I am very disappointed our experience was such a letdown.
Food was excellent. Service was horrible!!! It took nearly 15 minutes for a server to greet us and we also celebrated our anniversary. I made of
Note of that on the reservation. Nothing was said??? We spent 150 bucks on dinner. Fix your stuff guys or you'll be gone by next year..
Not sure I would recommend 4Bells. This was my second trip to this restaurant. My first experience was not good. This time they did well on 3 dishes but failed miserably on the rest. Service was really slow. The Brick Chicken was not good, extremely salty. The Escargot was just plain bad, terrible taste. Seems as if they are trying too hard.
Celebrated my daughters birthday with her boyfriend amd her grandparents. The food, as always, was outstanding. The look on my dad's face when he bit into his steak was awesome... "wow, I don't think I have ever had a steak this good" The staff was friendly and inviting. Our waiter and the rest of the wait staff were attentive without hovering. Excellent experience. Will keep going back. Outstanding.
We have happily eaten at 4-Bells no less then 10 times, enjoying the food, service , and decor each time. Early last Sunday we went for dinner after a play. Service was still friendly, helpful, and fun, but food was awful. Salt was the overriding seasoning, and we both like salt! The chicken brine was overwhelmed with the salt, thus the chicken was a salt lick. We ordered comfort food biscuits (sadly only served upstairs now, not in the main dining room), also brushed with a heavy hand of salted butter. We sent both back but we're very disappointed as we were looking forward to a good meal, after an average theatre event. One more chance will be given but after that........
