Renowned for his Uni Crème Brûlée as well as A daily-changing menu reflects modern California sensibilities and focuses on ingredients from local markets, farms and producers in a casual, neighborhood setting.
Great tasting menu - every dish was delicious, and great service.
The food was delicious and cooked very well. My favorites were the uni creme brulee and chocolate souffle tart. The halibut was cooked just right. My kid with allergies was able to enjoy his meal as well. The restaurant is cozy and the noise level a bit louder than I'd like. I really appreciate the use of hand towels in the restroom. Work on the ingredient pairings and you'll go far.
We enjoyed a very intimate and scrumptious birthday dinner here.
Nice neighborhood, no parking.
Incredible food and service as always. We ordered the uni, beets, and Hamachi to start all amazing. I got the halibut and husband got the steak perfectly cooked. This restaurant is a neighborhood gem. That’s even better than some of the fancier restaurants that I’ve been to. I’ll be back next month!!!
Have had better meals before, and it may have been an off night. Felt rushed in every way: food came out very fast, wine menu taken before we had offered, and no one explained the food. Generally very heavy with lots of dairy and frying. Octopus was rather chewy and over smoked in lieu of quality prep and seasoning - they should get sous vide machine. The crude was actually good but no better than Frances or foreign cinema. For the price , foreign cinema, Octavia, and Frances are much better. Also offered seats at bar when reserved table
Overall, it was a great experience. We shared an appetizer which is uni Creme brulee, I didn't quite like the taste but my friends seemed to really like it, it was creamy and flavorful for them. I ordered the black trumpet mushroom & black truffle ravioli as entree, though I wasn't very hungry, I did finish everything. It was very yummy and tasty, kind of on the salty side for me. I would order that again. This was my second time to the restaurant and OpenTable does make it easy to make reservations. I'd like to try other foods next time.
The best meal i never had! I highly recommend it! Best restaurant in whole san francisco
I totally love this restaurant. The food is bursting with flavor.
Lovely neighbourhood restaurant with a great menu and very friendly service.
The lobster risotto was the star of the meal. So good that we ordered another dish to go. However, the uni creme brûlée and the duck was outstanding. Definitely need to go back again soon. Loved it
Food was fantastic. My partner and I ordered 4 dishes and we ate every morsel of every single dish. Can't wait to go back with another friend to have the hamachi crudo again.
The grand tasting menu was amazing. Service led by Dion was great.
We were sitting at the bar table but I feel that they are rushing us to finish the meal as it came out quite quickly. Food was okay definitely didn’t worth the price I paid. 25 bucks for a small size of ramen? Seriously?
Great food, and excellent service
The only drawback on this resturant is the service level, services can use improvement on both hosting and the servicers. When we arrived we just stand there for couple of minuates, they were setting up the table for a party of 6 or 8 ( they arrived 20 min after we set down ), and there were available tables for 2 ppl ( my party ) , and there were another guest come in they almost try to set them down before us ( she come in 1 minuate after we arrived ), and i was just confused a bit. We had the tasting menu, the food was good for most of the dishes, the surf and turf was great.
Bad value. Food is good but way over priced for the portion size and service. 125-150 per person a in easily. There are a lot better places to spend your money.
Cozy place, amazing food, great service!
We ordered the tasting menu since we were visiting this place for the first time, and every single course was a delight. The wine pairings really complemented and accentuated all the dishes too.
Chef and staff was friendly and made sure we enjoyed everything.
Definitely looking for a reason to come back soon!
Reliably great food. Interesting combinations. Cabernet worthy.
What an INCREDIBLE experience! Visited for my fiance's birthday, and ended up doing the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairing, which was out of this world. The service was impeccable - we were there for 3 hours and every course was timed perfectly, we didn't feel rushed, and both our server Deon (!!!) and the chef were happy to chat, answer questions, and discuss the pairings.
Would 100% recommend and go back to visit again - a superior experience at this hidden gem!
Overpriced for what you get, had the tasting menu and nothing on it really wowed me. Service were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately nothing exploded with flavor and left me a little flat. Good wine selection.
Was a great meal & visit. Second time there, will go again.
Great food! Really fun combinations of meat & seafood. Worth it for a nice dinner night. It's also BYOB so feel free to get your favourite bottle of wine for the evening.
It was Valentines Day, so it was super busy. Our server seemed overwhelmed and kept forgetting what we and the people next to us ordered. Yet he was still very nice. It seems they got backed up in the kitchen with the main courses, so we had to wait quite a long time for ours. They were kind enough though to give us each a free glass of wine on the house.
The food was good, but it was quite expensive for what we got. Third Cousin is never cheap, but their V-Day menu was even more expensive because it was pre-fix. I liked the items I ordered, but, for the price, I’d hoped it would be exceptional.
Great cuisine and friendly staff. Portion sizes are fairly small so not so easy to share most dishes . Overall very good experience
This is a restaurant that I want to be able to go to for a long time. It’s creativity is off the charts, the beauty and tastefulness of each dish was exemplary and the small scale of the space made all the energy that went into the meal feel so personal.
We have been to this place for a few times. For some reasons this time, the temperature of each dish was not warm enough which impacted the taste.
This is a delightful find in the Bernal Heights area. The neighborhood is busting with quaint dining spots and third cousin is a jewel in the crow. The food was delicious! We did the four course menu and where stuffed I can’t imagine the 7 course but willing to work up to the challenge. We also went all the way with the wine pairing and it was fantastic. From the fried oysters & proseco to the choate tart ad desert wine we where enamored with 3rd cousin. The staff and atmosphere where relaxing and casual. An excellent night all around.
We had dinner here during restaurant week for a special occasion. There were 3 of us, and we each chose different things for each course. All of the small plates were quite delicious in different ways. I had the oysters for first course and though I’m generally not an oyster fan, these were quite tasty. Second course for me was the soup-sooooo good! Third was striped bass which was also delicious and well prepared. Had a chocolate torte for dessert. Yum!
We had the wine pairing, and all went well with each course. The service was attentive, but not overbearing. The bill for dinner was way more than what we usually spend, but for this spcial, celebratory occasion it was worth it!
Food was the saving grace. Staff made no effort to greet us or make us feel welcome. They seemed to welcome their regulars first even though there was a line in their small entry way. The waiter forgot our bread (which would have cost 6 dollars extra). If you’re going to drop $200 on a meal that at least should be free. Waiter did not check on us throughout the service or even ask if we enjoyed the meal. It was also too noisy and the tables were spaced very close together.
Many other places much better than this for the same price. Wouldn’t recommend this place.
The lamb was really good! We had a good experience enjoying the SF restaurant week menu.
Everything we ordered via SF Dine About menu were excellent! Definitely a place for quality over quantity.....Portion is small.
Went here for Restaurant Week. Overall the prix fixe menu had a fairly diverse offering. Overall the food was fairly good.
Solid. Loved the dessert and the pasta. Fish and meat dishes were too sour and didn't feel balanced enough (due to overly acidy sauces & vegetables). Service looked a bit bored all night.
The meal was terrific and we had fun experiencing it for SF Restaurant week. Such a special place in a great family neighborhood. The only bummer was that the server forgot to bring me my leftovers!
Tasting menu and wine pairing was fantastic. Service was wonderful. And the chef came out to thank us for dining with them. Really enjoyed it.
Uni appetizer is SUPER tiny. Two bites max for $24. Tt was okay not great.
Entrees were ok but nothing amazing.
Food was fantastic. A bit highly priced.
Menu and flavor of food was overall delicious as was service. Overpriced for ratio of plating by $1-2/plate. Good variety to choose from.
The food is outstanding, the ambiance cozy. The delicious cookery and fine plating that goes on here merit a look by all foodies in San Francisco. Cabs and Pinots dominate the red list. I will return!
