First visit tonight for our anniversary. Beautifully decorated for Christmas! Food was awesome, and our server, Claire, did a great job.
Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. The service was slow and inattentive....for example, it took forever to get our drink order; bread was not made available until after our entres were served. We were at the restaurant on Prime Rib night and most of our party ordered this for their meal. Everyone’s meat was very tough and relatively tasteless. However, the side order of roasted Brussels sprouts and cauliflower was good....the only portion of this meal that was enjoyable. We definitely would not recommend The restaurant and doubt whether we will return.
It was magnificent! The service, food, & the place is BEAUTIFUL!
This is a must when in Beaufort ! An unexpected fine dining gem.
Excellent food, ambiance and service! The dining room is a bit noisy. Not too bad , but a bit. The pan seared grouper was excellent! I like the use of local ingredients and we are a fan of Carolina Gold rice which is used in some of the dishes. The Makers Mark tasting was quite affordable and a pleasant touch. I happen to come back again soon!
Great service , with lovely views and delicious food!
Overall -- it was very nice. Loved the choice menu...the food was really good. There was a bit of difficulty getting seated but otherwise we were pleased. Thank you Beaufort Hotel! We are so glad you are serving the community.
We went for thanksgiving dinner. Arrived early so we sat at the bar and ordered 2 red wines and 2 cocktails. The bartender that served us must have been a trainee. She had to refer to an instruction sheet for the mixed drinks and kept going off to the back somewhere. The other bartender was very knowledgeable. I feel the trainee should have been serving beer and wine, not mixed drinks on a holiday. The atmosphere and ambiance was very pleasant and the other wait staff service was excellent. Our food, since it was a set menu, was already prepared and just ok. Will try the restaurant again when it isn’t a holiday.
Because the restaurant is relatively new it is possible that this was the first holiday event for the Chef and kitchen staff. The thanksgiving turkey entrée was ok but I expected it to be better. The cranberries were extremely sour and my dinner party could not eat them. The dressing was bland as well. Everyone seemed rushed and a bit stressed. We were concerned about the lettuce in the salad as romaine lettuce was recalled recentlydue to a health issue but romaine was in the salad.
Even though our reservation was after the designated time for the traditional turkey dinner, they still managed to accommodate us with all the trimmings and it was as delicious as it looked! The service was attentive and a special thank you to the staff that was willing to work on this holiday!
Unfortunately we were boxed in by a large group behind us and beside us. As is always the case many talk loud so those at the end of the table can hear.
After diner we went to bar and found bar stools difficult to move.
Need to put lights on water behind restaurant to help with atmosphere
34 degrees North, what a great Breakfast Deal for your guests and for us local folks! I look upon these savings as a thank you to the community. Whether for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks it’s always enjoyed.
A little dark where we were sitting by the wine
We were there for the "Locals Night" Prime Rib Special....the prime rib was juicy, tender and cooked to perfection. Sides are ala carte but large enough to share. Excellent experience and we will return!
While visiting your hotel we ate several meals in the restaurant. Everything was delicious!! Your dinner menu was exceptional from the appetizer to main dish to dessert! The staff was top notch. My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to anyone!!
Excellent food! Live music was a bit distracting from the ambiance and the view, but not terrible music. We were a few minutes late (dropped off the baby), and they mentioned it a couple of times, so we didn’t appreciate that. Everything else was excellent.
I ordered the scallops because of the photograph in 34 North's website. And for $14 I got two scallops and they looked nothing like the ones in the photo. The ones in the photo had a nice caramelized finish but the ones I received had none. I thought $14 for two scallops was ridiculous. I ordered a Caesar salad and the scallop appetizer and made it clear I thought to the waiter that I would like my salad first and then my scallops as my dinner along with my husband's dinner. Instead he brought my salad and my husband's complete dinner. Then walked away when he came back I said I really wanted my scallops as my dinner along with my husband's dinner and he said oh I'll go do your scallops now. No apologies. When he delivered my scallops he just set them down and walked away I just thought he was very very unprofessional. He made our experience there unpleasant.
The waitress we had for breakfast was very very good! Almost everything was good about staying at this hotel.
Excellent place to dine ! Food was well prepared. New establishment, hope they can establish a large clientele Not downtown Beaufort but worth the time to find. Should advertise more . Waterfront dining!
Beautiful restaurant! Love the wood floor. excellent service.
Constant interruptions from less than sophisticated waitress and perhaps the manager checking on us. Hard to tell since everyone was in Halloween costumes although it was 2 days prior to. Food was just ok. Nothing “artisian” about the cheeseplate. Meat overcooked so dry (chicken & pork) When exiting, found valets totally overwhelmed and cars parked every which way. When mine was returned there was wet sand all over the driver’s side floor. Not worth a return visit although the building and view were nice...
This is quickly becoming our go-to restaurant choice. Food is amazing, service is excellent, ambiance perfect. Highly recommend!
Beautiful venue. Friendly and helpful wait staff. Outstanding service. Food definitely did not disappoint. Everything was delicious!
Food was delicious...service was great! The only thing I’d change was the temperature of the food once it was brought to table. All meals/appetizers/soup could’ve been a lot warmer.
The atmosphere and staff were amazing. Food came out very fast and was delicious. Would highly recommend!
So you might ask what I thought of 34° North Restaurant. here is my review....
Where do I begin......
Went to 34° North for Prime Rib $15 special. First available reservation was for 8:30 pm. A little late for me but hey....Prime Rib for $15!? I’m in! Showed up a little early to see if we could be seated. Was a bit apprehensive as a couple was leaving and after the hostess asked “how was everything?” They were less than favorable with comments. But hey...$15 Prime Rib! I’m in!
So first the good...
1) It’s less then 1/2 mile from my house
2) The place is beautiful
Now the not so good...get comfortable....
1) they were OUT of Prime Rib at 8:00 pm!
2) we were immediately seated with bread and water but no plates and no wine menu!
3) when we finally got a wine menu and asked for recommendations it was painful. So I asked for a Rose......there was ONE on the menu and the server suggested that the “others” were more expensive (than the ONE for $29), so I said the $29 bottle would be fine. We were served one that was mediocre for $31.
4) asked if there were any app specials...nope. Ordered Pork Belly from the menu and it was a disappointing piece of pork. Needed something! Added salt. Was just very okay.
5) what seemed like hours later we were brought our dinners. The server was “vocal” about how it was all her fault the Prime Rib was out. Seemed surly at best most of the night. I figured this would probably be her last night as a server. Might be best.
6) another server was clearing plates and dropped a knife to the table left of me. Left it on the floor and even passed it later. A few other servers passed it without notice. Customer stepped over it......The expeditor (star of the whole night) eventually saw it and picked it up.
7) we had decided on splitting the ribeye. My friend had the wedge salad and I chose the cheese soufflé (crushed fingerlings were 86’d) and Brussels sprouts. Decided to add Mac and cheese too.
8- meanwhile the table of friends that came in 15
We're came for the prime rib. After 10 minutes of ordering a women came over and said they was out of prime rib. We ordered a 16 oz. Ribeye and a strip for my date. Both ordered med rare. Both steaks came out well done. And with no sides. Also both steaks had the wrong topping on them.
We had a great waitress and she offered to take the steaks back but at this point we didn't want to wait. Approx 5 minutes later our sides arrived. The asparagus was very good but the mac and cheese look to be thrown together. The waitress did give us a free dessert that was very tasty
Caramelized broccoli could have been cooked a little more. The potato souffle and the prime rib dinner was excellent. Katy, our server was a pleasure to deal with. Recommend you share noted special occasions noted on reservations with service staff. Overall we are very pleased with the restaurant, the food and the staff. WE'LL BE BACK!
We had a great meal. The staff were very accommodating and the food was wonderful. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious.
Great service, beautiful place. Food was delicious but was supposed to come with asparagus and got two small pieces, more of a garnish instead of side dish but the grouper and rice.. which was more of a risotto we’re delicious!
Rice/lantz wedding
The decor was great. I was there to conduct a bit of business and the atmosphere couldn't have been better. Also, our server, JJ, was superb! I will definitely be back.
My husband and I got married at the Boathouse 5 years ago and we went on our anniversary! Great service, and food presentation. We even got a free dessert since it was our anniversary- we got the coconut cake which was delicious but I’m sure they all are! We will definitely be returning whether it’s for a date night or special occasion!
This restaurant is a beautiful concept, incorporating elements from the old building into the new. The view was beautiful watching the sun set on the patio. But they have a long way to go if this restaurant/hotel is to succeed to match the vision. Food was good and a nice presentation although a bit limited. Nice wines. However, it became a total joke of an evening with the screwups and unprofessionalism of the hostess & wait staff. There needs to be some serious training. Also, my husband & I sat on the patio, and he ended up sitting beside me because the tables are incredibly wide. To top it off (and no fault of the restaurant), an incompetent boat owner took 30 minutes trying to dock an expensive, incredibly loud speed boat. People were getting up from their tables watching, and after they finally docked, there was a loud cheer. All in all it was an entertaining night to remember, but not what I think the management would like to be remembered for. Hopefully, time will help.
Everyone enjoyed their meal. I got the grilled cauliflower steak. I thought it had a little too much soy vinergarette on it. Other than that, everything was outstanding. The presentation of the house salad was also excellent. Will definitely return.
The overall experience was ok.
The grouper was excellent.
The flounder was dry and overdone and I suspect was not fresh.
Our waitress was fine and attentive and brought our meals in a timely fashion.
She was cute and pleasant, but I’m not enthusiastic about being served by someone with pink hair and tattoos.
The setting on Taylor’s Creek is superb!!
There were four of us, two of which got the fish tacos. The tacos were very good. The third person got the Caesar salad with fried oysters. The salad and fried oysters were wonderful. The fourth person got the special that was being served to a business group in the hotel. It was a Caesar salad with chicken. The chicken was very dry, which ruined the meal for her. I had gotten a chicken dish for dinner at a prior visit. That too was very dry. Otherwise, the service was good and we enjoyed the view of Taylor Creek.
Located in the new Beaufort Hotel
Free valet parking
Friendly, attentive staff; very knowledgeable about the menu
Spacious, open dining room layout; indoor and outdoor seating
Our entrees -- grilled grouper and low country boil (special) -- were excellent
A little pricey; 1 soup, 1 salad, 2 entrees, 2 glasses of wine = $108 before tip
The food was lukewarm, very surprising since the restaurant was not that busy at the time. The salad was brought to the table just before the main course. The service was great ,although, we were not ask to have dessert. We may go again, maybe for breakfast.
For the atmosphere, and price, we should not have been rushed...serve a drink, allow customer to finish their drinks, then serve appetizers, again wait and wait a little longer to serve entrees...could have gone to a fast food restaurant if I just wanted something to eat...we wanted a dining experience...
Beautiful restaurant and view. Wait staff professional and nice and good was delicious.
I had gone to this restaurant with friends and we had an awesome experience. I came back a few weeks later and brought my parents but the service was horrible. Out of our party of 4, not a single person received their correct order. We asked our server a number of times for whatever item was missing/wrong and she still did not follow through. We won't be going back.
