Wonderful experience at boltwood with amazing food, excellent service and great atmosphere. Five stars in every respect.
Excellent food. Fabulous service! Everything was amazing!
I love to dine here as 30 Boltwood is always reliable. Food is well prepared and features local produce. The wait staff are very well trained and whether eating indoors or out, seating is comfortable even in these days of Covid restrictions.
For an upscale hotel the dining room had no ambiance.. no table cloths … no bread.. fireplace but not working. Waitress was completely absent.. had to give another one of her tables the salt and pepper after customer had gotten up to search. No friendliness. All business… wanted salmon but they were out so I had chicken..
The food was very good but a glitch left one meal forgotten. When the mistake was realized no effort was made to take special care of us. The server was very apologetic but nothing more. So three of us finished eating and one person was still waiting for food. Normally a situation like this leads to a visit from the manager, an apology and an offer to comp some portion of the dinner. Instead we just had a weirdly out of sync meal.
So again good food but very poor management of the restaurant.
Ordered the Caesar Salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was overdone, burnt on the edges and the chicken actually tasted like it was "left-over" chicken. Would
not order it again.
Nice menu. Well-prepared food. Interesting flavors and combinations. Pleasant, low-key, inobtrusive staff provided just the right level of attention. Decor is kind of a blah, almost sterile and cold-feeling hotel ambience. Bare floors and table tops. However, given the food quality and reasonable prices for that quality, we would definitely consider dining here again when we are in the area.
Lovely spot to dine. Excellent food. Service quite slow but friendly and warm. I would eat here again.
We came to your restaurant during the October holiday weekend. Everything was fantastic: all the staff were very related/patient, the food was delicious/well presented and the atmosphere was perfect! We will return! Thank you!
My burger was tasty but was overcooked for a medium Burger and led to a stomach ache overnight because it was so charred. My wife's fried chicken sandwich was overcooked and burned and dry
Nice little restaurant inside of the Boltwood Inn. Small menu, but something for everyone, between a few breakfast items, and a few lunch items. Calm chowder was very good. French toast as well. Would return.
First time dining here and definitely the last. From the food to the serve an extremely underwhelming experience. Two of the 3 entrees had issues. The chicken was not thoroughly cooked and the Caesar salad lacked croutons and cheese. The sole exception was the filet mignon which was very good. The service too left much to be desired. The server refilled only 2 of the 3 water glasses. This place is overpriced for the quantity and quality of food. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Restaurant was understaffed so service was not attentive. Some food items were delicious but others were below par. The cheese and charcuterie board was very good but portions were skimpy. Overall a disappointing experience.
Cute little place for brunch. Nice and quiet too. Would go back
Noise was bad inside the restaurant by the bar that's why we went outside to eat
Ate on the porch, lovely setting, service was great, food outstanding.
Best place in town to enjoy an outdoor drink or appetizers or meal. Pricey. The radio speakers were a little loud in the background but not bad. We stayed longer than expected and just loved it.
30 Boltwood is so disappointing. We have had a few solid meals there so are sometimes tempted to go back because the patio is such a pleasant place to dine (especially in these Covid days). We tried again last night and had a miserable meal. Worse ever dinner rolls, hard, stale and served with olive oil that tasted rancid. Chicken dish which has pleased in the past was tasteless with overcooked carrots. Fried chicken sandwich, worse ever. Fish and chips passed. Cocktails good but limited appetizers making it hard to recommend for pre-dinner.
Anniversary date. The food was great but portions are very small for the price
Charming restaurant. The porch is a lovely place to eat on a fall day.
We went here for our 15th wedding anniversary- we had got married at this very spot 15 years ago in the tent outside, and were so excited to go back. The waitress didn't even say happy anniversary when we told her, the food & menu was ok, the service was ok but not great. Not bad, not amazing. Good place to grab some food if you are staying at the inn.
Our waitress was actually the best waitress we have ever had there. And I had eaten there the day before for lunch!
Early lunch to celebrate our daughter. We had roasted castelvetrano olives, hummus, arugula salad and a cheeseburger. Everything was very tasty and well prepared. We sat outside and while it was very warm there was a nice breeze. Waitress was lovely. Overall, an excellent experience.
The roasted cauliflower soup of the day was outstanding.
It's been a while since we were at Boltwood. The menu and service has been simplified (no more amuse bouche, for instance; no more choice of wine pour sizes) and not all of the staff are highly experienced. But they are friendly and helpful, and the chef is a good one. The main courses were delicious. And unless our memory fails us, the prices were lower than before the pandemic.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch outside on the patio. The food was wonderful and our waiter was excellent. We always enjoy dining at 30 Boltwood!
We did not enjoy our dining experience at the Boltwood Inn. My husband and I were excited to try out this restaurant for our anniversary. Unfortunately it did not match our expectations. The menu was very limited and the choices just did not seem like fine dining. To top things off , after 10 minutes of our experience the server informed us that the fryer was down and the kitchen would not be able to make any of the dishes that require frying. Unfortunate for us and the restaurant, we had just decided to order the Steak frites and the fish and chips. Oh well. At that point we got up and left. For the price of the drinks and food the menu just did not match up.
The location is great and the place does have appeal; however, the food isn't great. The nicest part was the relaxed atmosphere. Give it a try but don't expect top food. Prices a bit high for the quality.
Hosting out of town friends & it was their 1st time in Amherst. Table wasn’t ready when we arrived at 8. So we went to the bar to order drinks & wait. Bartender could not answer questions about the cocktail menu & did not offer to find someone who could.
Once seated, our waiter instructed us that the kitchen would be closing at 9 & we needed to get our orders in quickly. While waiting for our meals he told us that if we wanted to order desert we had to do it now. (Even if we just wanted a scoop of ice cream!) Half way through our meals, he asked us if he could bring our deserts out…!?!?
We were on time for our reservation & they weren’t ready for us.. but then we were rudely rushed. It was embarrassing…
The Boltwood used to be our favorite restaurant , we have had some spectacular meals there over the years. We hadn’t eaten there in the past year. We were very disappointed with the service, they were short staffed. The dishes were more expensive and smaller in size. The dried peaches on the meat and cheese board were dry and very tough. Filet mignon was very small for $34. The pork jerk was mildly seasoned . It was overall disappointing .
Excellent drinks (although only one allowed per person at a time) and entrees. Fish & chips was light and fluffy, shrimp & grits was tart and creamy (but a very small portion of grits), and the simple goat cheese/arugula salad was excellent. Avoid the "crushed cucumber" salad due to giant chunks of un-peeled cucumber and a very bitter dressing. The angel food cake and vanilla ice cream was a revelation! We enjoyed sitting inside (air conditioned and empty) and the service was cheerful and prompt. Will return! We prefer this place to every restaurant in the Berkshires, and it's a perfect halfway stop from Boston to Jacob's Pillow or Tanglewood. Reservations are required. All staff were masked and super polite.
30 Boltwood is an excellent restaurant. The food is priced fairly and delicious! Our server, David, was top-notch and remembered us from the last time we were there, which was several months ago. There is a variety of seating inside and out. During the summer our favorite place to sit is up on the Roof! If you're going for a cocktail and appetizers, I recommend the comfy lounge seating in front of the restaurant. During the winter months, the round booths are a must! Whether you're going for a night out or to celebrate a special day, 30 Boltwood has it all! Enjoy!
The shrimp and grits were amazing and the server suggested a great glass of wine to go with it. Lovely to sit on the porch and enjoy the evening. Lovely overall!
One poor dish. Good drinks. Other dishes were solid, but not memorable. Great service.
It took over an hour to produce first course soup. In the meantime, no bread or anything else on the table. The excuse was too many large parties taking up all the efforts of kitchen and waitstaff. So a party of two just looking for a quiet dinner (also meant to be a celebration) is out of luck. They did the right thing and didn't charge for food, only drinks;
but even if you accept the restaurant's apologies your evening is still ruined.
Centrally located with a very pretty and soothing location. All the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Food good; presentation ok; but slow service without explanation
The food and ambience is really good. This was our second time there and it’s always been great. The fillet mignon is amaze balls.
We ate on the outside dining area. It was dirty. Several insect nests next to tables should have been swept away. Clam chowder was good. Didn’t like their take on a Caesar salad. No croutons, just a dusting of breadcrumbs. No Parmesan cheese shavings, just grated Parmesan. No offer of freshly ground pepper, just salt and pepper shakers. Grilled steak ordered medium rare was mostly raw and grisly. Had been there before COVID and enjoyed it. This time not so much.
We had a great lunch. The lobster was fresh, the fish was amazing and the mac n cheese was outstanding. The charcuterie board was very tasty too. Our drinks were good.
