3 Doors Down Cafe and Lounge Ratings and Reviews
Three Doors Down had been on my list for some time, and it did not disappoint. We had an eclectic group of four, with one vegetarian. Our dinners were tasty, reasonably priced, the service was excellent, and the wine list extensive. The atmosphere is quiet, but not too quiet, dimly lit but not dark, and attentive without being pretentious. I will be back!
Three Doors Down has been a favorite for many years and continues to be. Always welcoming, always delicious and the ingredients are well-sourced and seasonal. It is central for friends to meet up and I never hesitate to recommend it to locals and out-of -towners alike.
This has been one of our go-to dining options for well over a decade. I have almost never had a bad meal here, and the service has always been outstanding. The pasta dishes are invariably tasty and quite often creative. The entrees change from time-to-time and there is almost always something delicious to entice. The peaches and scallops are the signature dish that, when available, you simply must have. The banana cream pie is the best in town by a wide margin. Chase it all down with one of their fantastic blood-orange sours and you'll be full and content. We keep coming back, despite the fact that it is not at all geographically convenient for us, because they so consistently and persistently leave us delighted with the decision, and do so for a reasonable amount of money. Portland is a city where fine dining is increasingly associated with an obscenely high bill. 3 Doors Down is proof positive it doesn't have to be that way.
It was not very crowded this Wednesday evening. The neighborhood around 37th has changed for the worse since our last visit. I hope this was not the reason as we have always enjoyed dining here. We did not feel unsafe but be careful. The sidewalk in front of Powell's was strewn with junk, as well as the corner of Hawthorne and 36th.
The wait staff is always incredibly knowledgeable, but totally down to earth. The food is delicious, and the Manhattans on tap (or otherwise) are a unique treat. The Happy Hour menu has some different options that are also fantastic… this is consistently great food and service, Enjoy!
We had friends visiting us from out of town and wanted to take them somewhere we could count on a great meal, great service and a friendly atmosphere. Three Doors Down didn't disappoint on all three points, but then it never does, which is why we chose to go there! The wine recommendation was spot on and all five of us were very happy with our respective salad and entrée choices.
We had a great experience. The staff was great and the service was too. We all enjoyed our meals and the wine was fantastic (2012 Gigondas, Domaine Les Chenes Blanc). Also, the restaurant had no problem with us changing our reservation from 6 to 4. Thank you! Can't wait to return.
5 of us gathered for a bit of a reunion. Our server was great- let us stay later than expected on a Sat nite knowing we wanted to talk and catch up with each other. All main courses, salads, drinks, and desserts were good to excellent. Price point was reasonable Having been to this restaurant before I can say that the servers have always been GREAT and the good is consistently good. Only downfall for this restaurant is that street parking can be hard to find. Must leave time for a bit of a hunt.
There were two of us, splitting several dishes from the appetizer menu. All were delicious and wonderfully prepared. We shared the scallop with peaches and honey basil cream sauce, ricotta gnocchi with sweet creamed corn, and field greens with almonds blue cheese. Our waiter was attentive and brought individual plates for us to share these three dishes. Although our tab was kept low by the sharing and eating from the appetizer menu, we were treated like customers who were ordering a six course dinner. A great experience.
The food at this restaurant was stunningly good. The service was impeccable. Two members of my party commented their particular dishes were "the best" of those dishes they had ever had. I personally woke up the next morning dreaming I was eating the rigatoni! Can't wait to return.
wonderfull evening, food was above par and met all expectations as this is our go to place. Steak was cooked to perfection. Cavatelli with bolognese sauce is something you can't stop eating it is so good. Gnocchi for an appetizer was exceptional! Service is well above what you would expect. They treat you as though you are in a fine dining establishment but you can be casual.
