The food was very good, and the service was awesome! A bit noisy, but, I tune pianos, so I use my ears to make my living, making me a bit more sensitive to than some! Definitely an enjoyable evening!
We went for Portland Dining Month. We chose this restaurant because it offered 3 courses that did not include a dessert, and we liked having 3 different options for main course. For 1st I had and liked the eggplant but my companions had the sausage and their plate was better. The mussels were very good, and also the chicken, but the mac and cheese was my favorite.
Just for fun we also ordered two desserts to share (bread pudding and tiramisu), and both were huge and delicious.
We were also happy with the friendly service. The place is a bit crammed and a bit noisy, I guess it couldn't be all good.
We dine here occasionally and have always enjoyed the excellent Italian food and presentation, service and ambience. It is our favorite neighborhood restaurant and we always recommend it to friends and travelers.
Very nice atmosphere. The staff was attentive and the timing of the courses was perfect. The food was very good. Recipes were unlike anything we've had before, but both very delicious and as described. Definitely would recommend for a nice dinner out, or an intimate special occasion.
Everything about our dining experience was fabulous! We were greeted warmly and efficiently. Our service was attentive and friendly. The food was spectacular! Every bite in each course was outstanding!! Very unique ingredients, beautiful presentation and a wide range of textures and flavors. It has been a couple years since we have dined here. I forgot what we have been missing! 3 Doors Sown three is well worth revisiting and making this your favorite! Wow!!
Stephanie was great and Matt made a great
The best Tiramisu ever!
Always a favorite for a a special date night. Service and food are always superb.
This small cafe and bar is a great neighborhood spot. Very hard to find parking but it was worth the frustration. The dim lighting made it a romantic evening. We went for Valentine's Day date a day later.
It was packed! No wonder reservations are needed.
Loved 3 Doors Down! Our wait person, Steph was personable and knowledgeable. I had flank steak with potatoes and veggies. Yummy! My husband had the special which was pasta, smoked tomatoes, asparagus and some other veggies. We shared the bibb lettuce salad which was tasty and enough to split. We shared a chocolate torte with bourban sauce. OMG! Rich and decadent! Prices were good, ambiance nice. You won't be disappointed. Online, it says that you can only make reservations if you have 6 or more, but open table let's you make reservations for 2.
We are very happy with our experience at 3 Doors Down Cafe and Lounge
It's been quite awhile since our last visit.
We have friends who live in the Mt. Tabor Neighborhood and come here regularly -
After they mentioned this being one of their favorite places, we revisited, and concur.
3 Doors is very cozy, elegantly understated, and has a delicious menu and nice selection of wines.
Eating here on a mid-week evening was a most pleasant experience. It was quiet enough for conversation, the food was outstanding, the half-carafe of pinot was luscious, and our waitress was friendly and very attentive. I look forward to my next meal here!
Outstanding service for our party of 6. Only small thing is my wife felt a little like they were "upselling" a tiny bit (i.e. suggesting more items to purchase) but it was comfortable for me. Great food, good portions, great atmosphere. Food was delicious.
I have never had a bad meal here and have come for years. Their menu is always tasty, apps and salads are great, pasta terrific, the fish fantastic... and I believe I receive a fair value for the price. I will be back!
Nice ambi, great service, nicely priced, I just thought the food was blan, left no impression on me to want to go back, but the others in my party liked everything.
The food and service were excellent; enjoyed the evening!
My husband and I wanted to try someplace new to us, and were very pleased with our dining experience. We like to dine early, so were able to enjoy the restaurant before it became crowded. Our server was very knowledgeable about wine, and we loved the bottle she recommended. The food was rich and satisfying, especially my scallops! I want to return soon!
Have been going to 3 Doors Down for 20 odd years. It's still quite good: food and service are terrific. Many menu and wine (and cocktail) choices and everything fresh and tasty (as always).
We hadn't eaten at 3 Doors Down for quite some time. It was very nice to come back. We enjoyed our meals and the service was great. We'll come back again and not wait so long the next time.
The service is personal and attentive. Menu options are great. We went with the house-made angel hair pasta with steamer clams. Absolutely delicious. The bread and bean dip is a great accompaniment. We'll definitely be back soon.
We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. This time was no exception. The service was great and the food thoughtfully prepared. Our guest was visiting from NOLA and is used too and likes spicy food. He ordered the clam linguini with lemon butter sauce. He said it was excellent though VERY spicy with hot pepper flakes. I tried it and my eyes watered and I choked a bit. Lovely, dish, bit maybe a tad too much pepper flakes? Anyhoo, the two other dishes were perfect.
After reviewing the open table reviews by customers of this restaurant went there with great expectations (open table reviews rated the restaurant very highly). First off trying to find parking in the area in the evening is very frustrating. The restaurant is located in a neighborhood where local residents use up almost all the available parking. If you can find parking the restaurant is nice in side - what you would expect of a local neighborhood restaurant. Nice wine list and very attentive service. The food is okay but nothing to rave about. This is by no means a fine dining restaurant. Would suggest making a reservation as can be full on a weekend night.
Awesome place right off of Hawthorne. Incredible atmosphere that allows you to enjoy your food but still do some people watching. The food was amazing. Only way to describe it. The staff was attentive without being overbearing or pushy. We will definitely return for more!!
Come here from time to time. Always awesome, I always get the same thing. Because it’s so delicious
Lovely food in an adult but not stuffy setting. Service was perfect and the food was better. Prices were also very reasonable. We split a duck confit appetizer that was perfectly prepared. We each ordered one of the pasta dishes and both were exquisite. If you want a lovely dinner in a relaxed but elegant setting where wearing jeans is fine, this is a place to go.
This is the most consistently good Italian restaurant in Portland. We’ve been eating here for 20 years and never had anything but a great meal and great device.
We always make a point of a family dinner here during holiday season.
Our anniversary date every year is at 3 Doors Down. It never disappoints and this year was actually stellar. They keep up. Trendy but nothing too bizarre. Just really, really good.
We've enjoyed 3 Doors Down for years and they continue to serve delicious food. They serve fresh bread with a warm bean dip that is wonderful. Scallops and gnocchi are my favorite appetizers because they change the preparation depending on what's in season. Although I usually have their fish selection, I had a chicken breast with beans and Cipollini onions and a fantastic but light sauce.
The staff are attentive and friendly, remember we've dined there before and remember and ask how our adult children are doing.
The parking situation at 5:00 p.m. is terrible. There is nothing anyone can do about that except drive around and hope. I kind of feel sorry for the neighborhood. All in all, it is well worth the drive ( from Hillsboro ) and the parking problem. The 4 of us had appetizers: oysters, scallops and chicken liver pate, all excellent. We also had for entrees: New York steak, pork chop and risotto all really good. My New York was a little chewy but very tasty. All the drinks were also very good. Definitely will go back. Our server Jacquie was pleasant and efficient.
We stopped in because we were in the neighborhood and they happened to be having happy hour. We ordered a selection of items from the happy hour menus and made up our own tapas-like menu. Just about everything was very good, the one outlier was a simply buttered pasta that my son ordered which was just OK. My daughter is a vegetarian and her eggplant parmigiana was outstanding. Would definitely return.
I have lived in the Portland area (SE) for over 12 years and dine out fairly often. I had the best meal I have eaten in a local restaurant Monday evening! I had the Orecchiette pasta with cauliflower and tiramisu. Fantastic!!
Outstanding food and service, ample portions. Energetic and enthusiastic management/host
Service was fantastic and food was beyond excellent! Will definitely be back!
This is my third time to dine here and I have loved it each time. My partner will choose Three Doors anytime I want to take her out. We look forward to the next opportunity we'll have to go out to dinner. (We're from St. Paul and so are willing to drive through Portland traffic to get here. That should say something.)
Been coming for nearly 25 years. That speaks for itself, eh?
Excellent just right “care" by our waitress. Genuine. Great Smile. Comfortable personality.
Sorry, forgot name, but we sat in north window alcove for 2.
I love this place. I’ve been going for 20 years or so. Really nice people, great food, consistent, varied menu. Reasonably priced.
I have a family of four kids (now grown) with one that’s fussy about ingredient origin, another that does not like meat, and the other two that have big foodie type sophistication and it this place is loved by all of them.
Love this restaurant...consistently good & great service!
Amazing good as always!
Waiter was rude. After telling us the specials he said, "I understand if you just want salad." I thought about that and dismissed it. When we paid the bill, I used a $50.00 gift card on a $78 bill. I also put $44 cash in for a total of $94, which is a little over 20% tip. He ran after us after running the card saying there was not enough. When I said the card was 50 he looked again and realized he read the ticker wrong that the balance after the card was 28 and there was plenty of cash to cover. I should habe pulled my tip at that moment. It is not like we went to dinner is sweet pants. I was wearing a sweater and jeans with dress shoes and my wife had a black dinner dress on. The gentleman obviously judged us as undeserving for some reason from the start.
