It was a birthday dinner. However seeing different tables celebrating birthdays with desserts and not us was very disappointing. It was stated on open table and server was not informed. Food was good and server was good, my wife was disappointed that she wasn’t celebrated.
The food was very tasty but unfortunately not hot but good enough we would come back. Very loud though, sit on the patio if you want to have a conversation.
This was our third time visiting this restaurant and our first on a busy weekend during a holiday week. The service and food in the past had been excellent but not this most recent visit. The pasta was hard...not al dente...just plain hard, the mussels overcooked and rubbery. The service rushed and certainly not attentive. My husband especially did not enjoy the waiter's butt in his face every time he attended to the table next to us. We will go back because we really do like the menu but just not on a weekend or holiday week.
My wife and I have been going to 264 Fresco for about 10 years now. The food is delicious, the decor and bar upgrades are stylish and fun.
The restaurant is very upbeat, eclectic, fun, creative and a good place to be to enjoy some good food. There are tables, counters, a bar, patio, porch, just a myriad of places to enjoy its' originality. Our waitress was spunky, knowledgeable, happy and on task. Super fun birthday dinner.
Long wait, had to hail a waitress for a beer. Waitress forgot beer. Three of the four orders were missing something or screwed up in some way.
Worst service ever and i'd never return to this restaurant or recommend it to anyone. I left a long review on yelp if you need details of the experience.
Food was subpar.
The service was great as was most of the meals served. The restaurant is very noisy. Kids were actually riding their razor style scooters through the dining area. If you want a cozy dinner where you can talk to each this is not the place.
When we first arrived the noise in the dining room was very loud. We sat in the side patio and it was fine. Entrees took a while to come but server was attentive.
264 Fresco is a great new addition ( although been there for 18 years under a different name) Food , from the pizza to the shrimp/ cauliflower rice was outstanding . That being said, it was raining , so could not sit outside. Inside, the noise level, at peak times, is unbearable. Be warned if you want a nice romantic dinner , sit outside. The food will not disappoint !
Food was delicious, service was excellent good value and nice atmosphere!
This Italian-fare restaurant is located convenient to downtown Carlsbad and near the beach. Free valet parking is a plus in that area. Spacious outdoor seating space with fire pits in several areas. The inside area has bar seating with several large-screen tvs and high tops that get filled quickly during Happy Hour. The inside restaurant area feels industrial.. furnishings are spartan. We were shown to a table for two at the windows. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Food and drink were okay.. My date had pasta and I the veal parmigiana.. the veal was tasty and well cooked, smothered in capers. the vegetable medley was overcooked (boiled) for my taste. Wine is poured generously.
Our waiter seemed to be not prepared about today's menu. For example, he didn't know the cost of Risotto of the Day. We brought two different wines for dinner. He didn't asked if we need new glasses. Also he mixdd two different wines into the same glass
There for my birthday and the chicken, mushroom, asparagus risotto, which was not on the menu. I asked our server if the Chef might be able to prepare it and he did!!!! Above and beyond service! Thank you for making my birthday so special!!!
I had the sea bass with corn and almond side with lobster sauce - excellent. All fresh and a unique meal.
My wife and I have eaten at this restaurant several times and have been equally very satisfied about all that might be expected for dinner out.
Went expecting a good meal. Ratings seemed to be positive. The food lacked presentation, flavor, was undercooked, not at proper temperatures, and basically sucked.
My wife and I have taken my boss and his wife to dinner twice in the last several weeks when he has been in town. They loved Fresco’s just as much as we do! We live about a mile from your restaurant and it’s now one of our favorites!!!
Remodeled and improved, but noisier. Food and service both good.
Loved our waiter Steve, who suggested a great wine with a moderate price. One of our diners is a vegetarian, so she was thrilled to find so many offerings appropriate to her diet. The rest of our party enjoyed starters, tasty and unusual entrees, and lovely shared desserts. This is an Italian restaurant that goes above and beyond the typical--we'll be back!
It is too noise in the restaurant but the foods is delicious.
We made a reservation and walked in right on time, there was a long line just to check in but someone was checking who had reservations and then we got seated immediately. Everything was very good with a huge selection to choose from. We will definetly go back.
We were slightly late, but called and the restaurant was ready for us the minute we arrived. The food was out of this world, and the service excellent for as busy as they were. Definitely will come here again!
Food is fresh and perfectly prepared. Recent remodel of restaurant is a winner! Noise level is high, but vibrant. Wait staff is attentive yet not overbearing. As new locals to Carlsbad, this spot quickly became one of our favorite "go to" places.
Went during happy hour first time. Took over 20 minutes to get a drink. The ravioli was delicious - but surprised that the happy hour price of $9 - you only got 3 pieces. On top of that / came back another trip and the kitchen shut at 9:20 (early) when they were open until 10pm. Seemed like a lot of people were working there but not providing service to customers.
I’m disabled so I have a service animal the I use her puppy 🐶stroller to help me walk, and they were totally fine with it.☀️
A good place for a good italian meal. We were told that It was recently redecorated but you wouldn't know it; everything looks a little dated and well worn. But the atmosphere is casual and welcoming. The menu is good and the service was excellent, very friendly.
I order the capellini frequently. This time it looked like someone in the kitchen broke the noodles in half before throwing them into the pot. This is supposed to be an Italian restaurant. And then somebody forgot to screw the top on the bottle of hot pepper flakes. My wife dumped the entire container on her entree. The waiter got another entree very quickly and we had an uneventful dinner after that.
I was very pleased with the service and ambiance. The food was very tasty as well. It was a cold night when we dined, so we chose to sit inside. One problem we had was the temperature was chilly inside, and the servers kept leaving the doors open when they walked through them. Other than that it was a great experience.
Great ambience, attractive renovation, fun atmosphere, good seating, food is tasty. Our waiter Steve was personable and attentive. Wine list for Chardonnay lover’s is limited.
We live the new ambience, the food is delicious and help is friendly, helpful and enjoyable to interact with!
Reasonable priced and great service. Disappointing sauce on the chicken parm.
The lasagna was wonderful. Went to Italy in September and this was the closet to the lasagna I had there!
I've only refused to tip the waiter on two occasions, and this dining experience was one of them. The bus boy did a better job of taking our check and bringing our food than the actual waiter. While we did catch the waiter chatting it up with other customers for well over 15 min at one point, we only ever talked to him twice. Once to tell him we needed more time and the second to give him our orders.
I've been to this restaurant once before and the service was awesome, but this guy was just a horrible waiter. I won't be coming back.
Food and service were excellent. The meals are very creative, prepared with great skill and very reasonably priced. One of our favorites.
Lovely, near the beach in Carlsbad. This was a last minute meeting place with a friend. We sat on a sunny terrace with the ocean breeze blowing across (the well-screened parking lot). Delightful.
The location and ambiance are beautiful. However, we were expecting authentic Italian and it is more of an Americanized Italian. The flavor was good but the pasta was not al dente.
This was our second visit to Fresco because we found their menu was varied, the prices are decent and in general it was a great place for supper. When we are in Carlsbad again, we would definitely eat at Fresco's.
This is a really nice restaurant remodeled with a very urban chic atmosphere. Inside is very loud when busy but outside is lovely with nice heaters when it’s cold. This food is not cheap but top of the line home made dishes. The portions are reasonable mostly with salads being very large and shareable. We love it and are locals so frequent often.
We were there for a business dinner. The food is good with an extensive menu but service was painfully slow
