224 Boston Street Tavern & Restaurant
At 224 Boston Street, guests can eat inside or outside at the beautiful patio setting. Diners on the go can also grab some takeout and enjoy it elsewhere. For people that have a busy night planned or don’t like waiting, 224 offers the option to make reservations.
I had brought friends from out of town with me. They enjoyed the food and the atmosphere very much!
So cozy in here, love the vibe. The food is always amazing!
Great spot. Really good vibe. Nice, attentive staff. Food was very good to excellent.
224 is a great neighborhood restaurant. The bar area and dining room are cozy. The food has been solid here since it opened about 30 years ago. We had fresh oysters, salads with salmon and scallops, and some to-die for chicken wings. The server was friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.
We had brunch on their outdoor patio after some of us swam in the Boston Sharkfest at Carson Beach. The food was delicious and the buckets of bubbles were particularly appreciated. We will definitely go back and hope to try dinner.
Amazingly fresh food. The burrata was to die for. I absolutely love the charm of this restaurant - great atmosphere.
The garden and the food were spectacular! The spinach ravioli was one of the best dishes I've ever eaten, staff was very friendly and attentive also. Will definitely be going back again!
When we arrived they did not have my reservation set aside and offered us a table outside . ( it was quite cold). When I complained they said we could wait and get the table I reserved. Not a long wait. Table was fine. Food was awesome. Very noisy in the bar area where we ate.
Great food. Good value. They could change deserts more frequently though.
Cute entrance! Great food and drink options! Service staff are very attentive!!! Short walk from Andrew Square. NY strip was on point as well as pork tenderloin dish. Presentation was subtly impressive. Fun atmosphere on a Saturday night.
What a treat! Every time we go for brunch we make a note to come back for dinner because it is so good. Our delightful waitress was exactly what you want/need (but don’t deserve) in a server: warm, funny, a touch sarcastic, and most importantly she patient with our indecisiveness!
Incredible value and fantastic food. A real neighborhood gem.
Always great food and service!
One of our favorite places. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is memorable
this place was awesome, great food, good prices, and awesome location/space. I will be going back frequently
Food was excellent as well as the service! Air conditioning was a bit cold and they immediately rectified the temperature.
I used to love this place, now not so much.
Two servers on during a quiet evening and my friend’s NY strip became a burger. How do you confuse a steak from a burger? They weren’t even busy!
Anyhow, when the server realized she had screwed up the order, she just said ‘yours is ready (mine) and they could put a steak on now...’ basically selling my friend on the burger. He took the burger since he was hungry, however, it was mushy with cold, overly salty fries.
My lamb was basically inedible, aside from about four bites.
Our appetizer was comped, but overall, I don’t see any reason to come back here.
We hadn't been to 224 Boston Street in the past number of years but decided to give it a try again. NO REGRETS! We had a nice relaxed evening, first at the bar chatting with locals and management then on to dinner in the dining area. No waiting, but no pressure, The food was outstanding and our waitress was gracious and helpful. Perfect night for my Birthday. We'll definitely make 224 Boston Street Tavern and Restaurant a "go to" again. THANKS.
The atmosphere, staff, and servers were great. The menu was varied and interesting, and the food presentation was beautiful. Two small complaints that could be easily remedied: The duck confit special, though tasty, was EXTREMELY salty - I am known to family and friends as a salt lover and even for me it was very hard to eat. My second complaint is the main dining room was very cold, even to those of us wearing long pants and a sweater. We tried 3 different tables to find the least draft from the air conditioning vent, to no avail.
Fantastic place tucked away with seemingly not too busy of a crowd. Highly recommended
My husband and I went to 224 last night for the first time in a long time. I wasn’t impressed. The service was mediocre to basic at best.
I must say, The atmosphere isn’t great either. The lighting is weird and the dining room looks like it was set up that day with second hand tables and chairs. I’m not sure if they’re going for a run down, rustic look inside, but it would benefit from a fresh coat of paint and newer furniture.
I was not impressed with the beer selection. Very limited. I ordered a Belgian white ale and was given a can. No glass or anything, just a can.
I ordered the lamb frites which was delicious. My husband, however, ordered the short rib Mac and cheese and we literally had to look for the short rib in it. It was all shells and cheese with two little pieces of short rib. For $25, it just didn’t make sense. Way overpriced.
The overall experience was OK, and living nearby I’ll likely go back again. I suppose I’ll be more selective of entree choices overall.
Wonderful find with fresh ad delicious food. It was a great little surprise and a perfect way to end the day.
There were 5 of us celebrating our son's Birthday and we wanted a nice restaurant close to Boston. My husband and i hadn't been to 224 in years but thought it was worth another try. We had a wonderful time. It was cozy. The food was delicious, ours service left a lot to be desired. We will return
Great restaurant. Fantastic food and service. Highly recommend.
We LOVED 224! My partner and I wanted to try a new restaurant and love to find those little gems that are off the beaten path and 224 delivered! The setting is fantastic-warm, comfortable decor and seating...the wait staff is incredibly warm and friendly and provides the perfect level of attention: doesn’t hover and knows exactly when to drop by your table...the menu is really creative and DELICIOUS! We recommend the calamari and Brussel sports to start and the pork tenderloin is FANTASTIC! I had the NY Strip and it was absolutely delicious! I can’t recommend this restaurant enough! We’ll be visiting again soon to try their brunch!
We had a brunch date at 224 and absolutely fell in love with the ambiance, the quaintness, the staff, and most importantly the food! We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful patio and garden. We ordered the steak and eggs and the breakfast burger (added an egg)! It was superb! The owner, Lanie, treated us to some cinnamon sugar covered donuts after our brunch with mint chocolate syrup. What a way to end out dining experience! We will definitely be back for dinner and drinks next!
We love 224 Boston Street. Warm, welcoming, great food. The service and character of the place are wonderful. We chose to spend our 20th wedding anniversary here. Not fancy but lovely and charming place. Also beautiful patio outside seating for nice evenings. Only suggestions would be to get a cappuccino machine and maybe a few more veggie or gluten free options.
Absolutely Amazing! Sadly I’ve only had a handful of meals that breathe new meaning into life. This is one of those meals. Fresh and naturally simple with subtle bursts of fantastic flavor throughout. I wished it would never end. Definitely returning with friends to share these palette pleasuring morsels. Thank you!
Amazing food and service!
Love this neighborhood jewel! I've been coming for many years. I hadn't been in quite awhile because the last time I went the quality wasn't what it had been. However, happy to see that it is back to its previous excellent fare. Went there for the brunch with a few friends. We started with the little cream filled donuts - yum! I had the hash and eggs, and although the eggs were a little underdone for my taste, the hash was homemade, which I loved. Everyone I was with very satisfied with their food. I am looking forward to trying it for dinner soon.
We arrived late to our reservation and yet was happily welcomed. Our server was patient and guided us very well in making options and was super kind and happy to have us as her guests! I’m just bummed it took me over ten years to finally eat here, everything was delicious!
Meh, a fair experience at best. Not sure I’ll return. I thought the quality of the food in the presentation left much room for improvement tables were crowded restaurant was noisy service was a bit snooty, post was a jerk not the most pleasant experience.
Great menu, a little pricey for the area, but the food quality was good. Atmosphere is so cozy and welcoming. This restaurant is quite a gem!
224 Boston Street Tavern was quaint and the food, delicious! It wasn’t overly crowded and the staff made sure our coffee was never empty :)
Great food, restaurant was a roar because of Bruins game and the amount of people. But food and service and value top notch.
224 is the best restaurant in Boston! The food is phenomenal and the service is great, they really try to make you feel welcome. My fiance and I live around the corner and go all the time and they know us by name now and treat us very well. Highly recommend!
Consistently welcoming staff and delicious food.
Host, waiter were awesome. Very courteous and very expedient. Love the food and the place.
The burrata and Kung pao calamari were out of this world. I had the lamb steak which was cooked perfectly with a yummy chimichuri and my friend enjoyed her bolognese. 10/10 will be coming back for more!
Fantastic! Thank you Patrick for your hospitality!
